It is possible, however, it will be expensive.

I usually don't like mrf and always preferred Michelin and pirelli. After booking the bike, I went for a ~100 kms ride to nainital on a friend's R15 v2 with a masseter. I was a bit nervous initially but after a few kms I started pushing her on corners. I was so so pleasantly surprised with the performance of the tyre. No noise, no skidding, no unwanted surprises. His tyre was almost 6000 kilometers run and still had 5000 kms of rubber left. This made me choose it for my bike and trust me the only better tyre is the pilot street radial which is almost twice the cost of the mrf,(3850).
If one can extend the budget a bit, you will get Metzler H rated tires.

I am seriously contemplating this bike and before I finalize something, I'd like to meet few Pune based FZ-25 owners to understand their bike experiences better. Please ping me if you can spare an hour or so in the evening, the coffee is on me! :-)

        Hello,

I am 38 about 6ft tall approx 100kg.Daily office commute is around 30km (15 one way) Weekends little bit touring (100km runs max) Looking for 250cc + bike.
Most of my weekend rides are going to be with Pillion (so Pillion comfort is must have)

Ruled out Bullets (used to own one TB sold it long back due to high maintenance and unreliability.

Test-driven FZ25 loved it! The only drawback I see is ABS (I live in Pune and we have to use breaks pretty much every other second)

Test-driven KTM Duke 250 felt like I am sitting on Tobu bicycle too lightweight for my taste and I felt it bit difficult to control.

Test-driven Dominor loved everything about it - only bad thing is brand Bajaj I mean should I really spend close to 2 lack rupees on Bajaj bike. Every single person (some of them even bajaj bike owners) are telling me not to go with Bajaj

I see some advantages with Bajaj with ABS, Slipper clutch etc, which are missing on FZ25 but I felt FZ25 very easy to handle especially in bumper to bumper traffic.

Any help choosing right 250cc + bike with primary usage as a daily commuter with great comfort. Budget is not a constraint.

If you've felt comfortable handling Dominar, then go for it. It is best VFM now - and Bajaj maintenance is lower as well. I would have gone for it myself, but despite 2 test rides didn't feel comfortable maneuvering it in Pune traffic (I am 5'5" and aroudn 61-62 kg). It ticks all the right boxes, if you find it comfortable.

FZ25 is good, but misses 6th gear, has poor headlights, poor tires, and no ABS. I also loved FZ25's nimble handling, but far too many compromises.

Dominar is excellent bike and I think it would be much less than 2 lacs OTR in Pune.
It is perfect highway machine, however not good compared to FZ25 in city or heavy traffic riding.

On Reliability side, Bajaj has improved quite a bit on overall quality and reliability. This one you can take chance.

Apart from City manners, economy and maintenance, Dominar is better than FZ25 in all aspects.

I guess if you're the daily commuter, fz25 is the one for you, totally unbiased opinion here. Dominar, as you said, is not great in the city. And please bear in mind mileage and also the frequent breaking down of Bajaj. CBR is far better than the fz25 yes, but then again, its a fuel guzzler and has sluggish low end in comparison to the fz25. Yes, the bike's not meant for touring. But unless you're planning to conquer the Himalayas, you shouldn't be too bothered.

I was in the same boat. Thoroughly ridden both. The dominar, although an excellent bike, didn't click me. It's more of a highway tourer than a city bike. Also, it's quite rough. Other things that I didn't like about it were the weight, vibrations and fuel economy which is poor at best. I don't feel that for a city commuter, it's better than fz25. In fact the Yamaha is much easier to live with. On highways, both bikes are excellent with dominar packing a bigger punch in the high rpms and a 6th gear. Fz25 is good enough for touring at 100 kmhr but above that dominar is surely better. Abs and slipper clutch may be missing from the fz25 but you'll not be in trouble as long as you are doing sane speeds, in fact the clutch is lighter on my fz25 than a friend's dominar. Also the fz25 has a decent headlight post leveling but still dominar has a good 25% stronger throw. But this issue can be easily resolved by adding a couple of auxiliary lights. Overall, fz25 is more versatile IMHO but the dominar is a better cruiser. If your runs are more city oriented, I'd tell you to close your eyes and go for the Japanese machine. If you are looking for a highway cruiser, go with the Bajaj. On a side note, do check out the MOJO, incredible sports tourer. If you do go for the fz25, please do change the rear tyre to a better one, get a seat cover with added padding and a couple led spot lights, this will totally transform your ride. Trust me. Please do hit me up with anymore questions if you have.

I had the same dilemma up until last month and today i am a proud owner of FZ25. Few observations that might help you choose

                      1. Bike is nimble in city traffic and should be good in highways too (havent tested yet. Planning for a long run in april).
                      2. Mileage has surprised me so far.. with sane riding 35+ is realistic.
                      3. Headlights is a controversial topic, LED's are pretty new for us and this being pure white and when thrown into the dark it just goes on unless hit by an object. This phenomenon makes one to belive light is not adequate. I tried tailing a vehicle in a distance and the road was visible and without any obstructions in front the same road appeared dark. Something we should get used to. With on coming traffic in high beam, no matter what you have, visibility is a question. Better to slow down when it happens. On side note, can use aux lamps (warrenty will be void).
                      3. ABS : I am not a huge fan of it, though it is a life saver. To me it kills the art of breaking, hence i dont mind if i have a ABS or not. In your case, in city when there is more breaking, i doubt you would be doing speeds and panic breaks where abs need to kick in. On highways being predictable and predicting the traffic should minimize the need for abs.
                      4. Gear shift will be hard, but as km piles up it does smoothen out.
                      5. With 5k km between services, i believe it is less on pocket.

Dominor is a cruiser not for city rides. It can stretch in highways but mojo does better job than Dominor and FZ25 is decent enough with good range, less fuel stops when compared to dominor. It does come with huge package. Slipper clutch, i doubt how many even use this in daily rides. ABS is added feature.

If your need is 70% city and 30% highway FZ25 is best option. If its otherway around you can look into Dominor or better yet Mojo.

If you're doing it, don't forget to re-position clutch/brake livers, and make sure the mechanic uses a T-wrench to loosen/tighten the handle bar bolt. Using a spanner will ruin the looks and functionality of the bolt.

Thanx I will stick with stock position of handle bar don't want to compromise on handling.

Yes and no. If the bike is undertired then it will improve and if not it will certainly make it slower. In case of the fz25, it has adequate rubber estate. Just upgrade to higher quality tires and you are set.
