I spoke to senior mechanic, he told me that the disc brakes have NO setting or adjustment..Just ensure the fluid level is above MIN,brake pad are not in worn out condition & perform brake bleeding after a regular interval of km..
Today my cousin took my bike to SVC as I had to attend a function. I spoke to the mechanic over there and he told that he checked the pads and they have not started to wear and the disc brake cannot be adjusted. Then I asked him whether bleeding would help.He told that it should not be done right now as it may cause damage to the cylinder(I didnt get what cylinder he was talking about).I told him to do something about it and ended the call as I was little bit busy in a function. But my cousin later called me and told nothing has been done to the bike...What shall I do?? Now I doubt whether the stock tyre is causing this ineffective braking..I had felt slight skidding at speeds 35 to 40 kmph...

TVS SVC don't do anything if you don't pressurize them, as usual..
The Mech. means the brake cylinder..Just ask him if "cylinder is important or life is important".. Give a complain to the workshop supervisor & bring it to his notice..The problem has to be the brakes only. The tyres will last atleast 20k km..May be the brake disc needs to be cleaned..If your bike is under warranty threaten them of taking this issue to consumer court,it works always..

          • @arjun better check the fluid levels and ask the SVC to guys to do the bleeding , while you watch. and only problem with TVS tyres is the wet grip, otherwise its well suited for the bike.(lasts long...really long) so its obviously the brake issue, and not of the tyres.

vibration is a characteristic of our bike, learn to accept that and rest of every bit about the bike will make you love it even more.
just a note , vibrations tend to reduce drastically with proper caring, use of good engine oils, proper servicing, etc. a perfect example of such a bike is Venu323s... one of the most vibe-free apaches i have ever ridden. he says and i quote " reason for less vibes perfect tuning and the mileage on the bike".

I have hardly known you or understood the reason behind your statement. So, don't take it personally.

Well, its an opinion one forms during the initial phases but, after a while, try riding a well maintained ZMA or something similar, you 'd instantly realise that most of the bikes lack the feel and the feedback that RTR gives you. Actually, don't ride any other bike. There are chances of one going mental because of the super smooth engine!

Got it fixed??The brake requires bleeding & disc might need cleaning..

I won't comment on that, but the vibes excite me. It reflects the awesome amount of power that the ride has to offer. I mean, other tvs vehicles don't vibrate like this. So its sort of like a trait. I enjoy it. But, after three months of ownership, I have to say, the vibes are almost gone. They show up at 100 again, but almost negligible. One my observation is this : shell petrol is amazing for the bike. As long as she runs on shell, the vibes are almost not there. But once I had to fill indianoil, and god. The vibes were very noticeable. Waiting to fill her up with shell ax7.

                        • Brake Pad

A query People, recently I had replaced rear break pad. What I noticed was the older pad had been rubbed off entirely, there was no rubber on one pad at all. What I want to ask is, is there any way to detect this earlier that the pads are near their end? My brake used to work properly until then. Also, this replace was after 11k on ODO, so I'm guessing it is the life period of the break pads. Am I correct?

                          • Hi, I too have the same bike as you have and stay in Pune. Well 11k is good enough life for your brake pads. If you still go on using that your brake pads scratch the brake disk and the disk has to be replace or it looses its effectiveness. I also had the same problem and I am still repenting.

Well in brake pad there are wear marks and we need to observe on a regular basis to ensure that we dont go below the wear mark level.

I am having problem with the front brake pads now. They have started screetching again. I have already replaced the front brake disc pads few months before because the pads had got fried during my trip to Konkan. I really dont know how to deal with this screetching sound. I got it cleaned with a high pressure water nozzle and the sound stopped but not for long its back again.
