In regions where temprs. raise to as high as 38-42C...it always better to use 20W40 ! ! !....

Not really. A xW40 rated oil will only be as viscous as a 20W40 at higher temperatures. So it doesn't matter which grade you use in summers and it only has to be xW40 spec (if you don't mind the cost )

"The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has established a numerical code system for grading motor oils according to their viscosity characteristics. SAE viscosity gradings include the following, from low to high viscosity: 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 or 60. The numbers 0, 5, 10, 15 and 25 are suffixed with the letter W, designating their "winter" (not "weight") or cold-start viscosity, at lower temperature."

"Based on the coldest temperature the oil passes at, that oil is graded as SAE viscosity grade 0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W, or 25W. The lower the viscosity grade, the lower the temperature the oil can pass."

This does not prove that 20w40 is better for hot conditions, does it?

A 5w40 oil is less viscous only at cold start compared to 20w40 but the viscosity is the same at high temps.

I guess..if u cld go thru the link and if that doesnt suffice you...you can try any other website....to get clarification on this ! ! !

U can post that link too over here..which proves your theory on this...we will be glad to learn abt it ! ! !....

I have never said X is better than Y. I have just maintained it doesn't really matter as long as the grade is xW40 because the oil should maintain a certain viscosity when the engine is hot.

Now both 20w40 and Xw40 have same consistency when the engine is running at higher temps. So how is 20w40 better than some Xw40?

None of your links say so. And I do not have any theory

(If you are debating the point the 20w40 and Xw40 do not have same viscosity at higher temps, then you need to do some more reading )

                + 1 ,
a 10w40 and 20w40 will be having same viscosity when engine is warm but the 10w40 will flow better and protect the engine when engine is cold at starting in mornings etc. , majority of wear and tear of engine happens in the first 10 minutes of start when it has not reached its ideal operating temperature . same reason there are no full synthetic oils of 20w40 but you will get many in 15w40 ,10w40 and 5w40 grade .

i have ridden dragrex fitted fazer and it was insane but its sound just irritated my ears in long drive. and head pain.

OOppss... can you please post a close up pic of the bracket? I'm yet to install it, but I though of taking to the nearby mech. IF I need to have some brackets made, I'd love to see how it should be, instead of getting it designed and done with stock exhaust out... I use the bike a lot, so it being away in workshop while getting things done is quite a pain...
You help is much sought after and will be greatly appreciated...

Im using the Ceat Vertigo Sport....its an average tyre.hard compound..good on offroad.

The exhaust is loud enough and if dagrex bothered you... this will too. Its a worthy upgrade though.

Its a regualr bracket available anywhere....used when people have these box carriers at the side panel of their bikes. will try to get a pic.

So how is 20w40 better than some Xw40?(when the ambient tempr are high,(I never mentioned when engine running temprs are high)20W40 is better, thats why its the recommended grade by TVS)

Well,I hope u get my line of thought this time around....

                          • I guess my bike has picked up the "famous" hiccup problem The bike struggles in the 2.5-3.5k rpm band and also the vibes have somewhat increased in the higher rpm bands.

Time to take my baby for service I guess. It'll be my fourth service.
