The increase in performance is directly proportional to the size of the hole in your pocket :D

        • my ninja 250r tyre problem

hi, friends hope u all are well. i wish u merry christmas and happy new year 2011 . now talk about my bike's tyre problem. kawasaki ninja 250r
have a 130 section rear tyre. i rode my bike around 9000 km. few days ago i change my bike's tyre, i fit a yamaha fz-16s mrf tyre which is 140 section. now my bikes balance is completely destroy (the tyre is completely flat ). i want to fit 140 or above size tyre, if u have any idea kindly give me a reply (which company and the size and the tyres model name) . mileage is not a fact for me.

To start with, you have put the wrong tyre - the FZ16 is 140/60/17 where as the 250R takes a 130/ 70 / 17.

A Pirelli Sport Demon 140/70/17 should do fine. But have a look at the Pirelli 130. I have a Pirelli 130/70/17 on my rear and it looks much bigger than the IRC 130. People who have seen my bike can vouch for that.

And somehow if you can source the Bridgestone BT-45 in 130/70/17, you will not need a 140 - the 130 BT-45 tyre looks like a 150.

First of all never experiment with your bike. Its not safe and the size you chose is wrong. A lot of people are interested in fatter tires for looks including me but i would not compromise on handling and safety. Go for the size recommended by the manufacturer. As Rahul mentioned below, look for options other than IRC which will make the tire look bigger and comply with the spec's mentioned.

on a lighter note, we now know the FZ tire upgrade is a no-no. However you can go for the FZ hugger which is a easy mod job (even though its not mentioned in the manual )

Rahul, please share more info on the handling and grip levels of the pirelli's compared to the IRC's.

Hope that Rahul does not get any more such requests and everyone's bike is scratch free (and so is the rider )
