              • Experience with ASC

Ok.. here is what happened yesterday in the ASC.. I took my black pearl for a service and as usual.. they made me wait for almost 3hrs before even touching my bike.. meanwhile i was just looking at another Black ZMR which had a horrible crash and needed the left fairing to be changed completely.. it seems the guy wanted part of the full fairing to be white and he decided to go for the white center part of the fairing which is just below the headlamp.. looked horrible to my taste no idea why he decided to change the complete headlight assembly and the visor even though the old ones were perfect.. Rich guy I assumed

Now back to my Black Pearl Story.. finally a guy name Ram Prakash brought my bike in for service..

                My Complaints were as follows..

                1. Heavy Vibration noise from the front fairing.
                2. water flooding in the Tank Fuel Lid compartment.
                3. Spark Plug Cleaning.
                4. Battery Charging
                5. there was some sort of sound coming from the front shocks when I apply brake.. so they said the ball races had to be changed..
                6. No Oil Change as I recently changed my Oil..
                7. Front Brake Switch for the Tail light was bad making the tail light to be on continuously.. so I wanted them to replace it...

They did a regular service which is cleaning the air filter and the bike.. the mechanic test rode the bike and he removed the chain cover and cleaned the front sprocket box and tightened the chain.. i let him do it to his satisfaction though i had the sprockets changed..

The guy kept asking me change the airfilter, sprockets, spark plug etc etc as it has completed 24000kms.. i said no thanks i have done all that already.. and the spark plug i am using is iridium..

Later he removed the front shockers and changed the ball races... My God.. the Ball Races were in horrible condition.. and part of them were even rusted.. it took him almost and hour to get all this done.. then before he packed up.. had to remind him to clean the spark plug.. he kept insisting it will be fine.. you don't have to worry.. I told him this is what you guys say everytime.. just do it now.. and atleast he was kind enough to clean it the guy removed the spark plug and he was surprised to see such a spark plug.. he was showing to all his colleagues.. and he kept asking me from where I got it and how much it cost me.. blah blah blah.. and i told him where and cost of it..

Then comes the Front brake lever switch.. it was all dusty filled with lots and lots of dust mixed with the grease.. he removed it and went to get a new one.. he got the new and it didnt fit properly just because of slight change.. then I asked him to check if they had the same one as the old one.. and they didn't have it.. even after 3+ years of launch.. they still didn't have the proper spare parts.. so asked him to just fix the old switch.. I will have to go and get the old switch working myself

and for arresting the vibrations he just used the double sided adhesive tape on the visor and some of the irritating vibrations were arrested which made me happy I was pretty happy with the overall servicing this time as they did whatever I asked them to do.. and the spark plug cleaning.. first time in 8000Kms they have cleaned it.. its just too hectic for me to remove the spark plug on ZMR.. i clean my friend's royal enfield spark plug.. not that I dono how to clean it

Finally the water stagnating on the tank.. My God.. that was irritating me to the coreeee.. since the water wash was done before the service there was lot of water stagnated.. opened the tank lid and showed the guy.. and he covered the hole of the tank and used the air to remove the water.. and he put it in that small hole and flushed air in it and the air ws getting blocked somewhere in the outlet tube.. then he pumped the air from the outlet tube and F*** there was like some 100ml of water coming out the small hole with lots of rusts and sand particles.. then he flushed the air completely that the air flow into the tube was free.. relieved me as the other mechanics didn't do a satisfactory job inspite of telling them repeatedly..

the bike was pretty sweet to ride after changing the ball races.. and braking appeared to be more effective now.. not sure why i had this feeling.. but yes.. it was better.. as some of the vibrations were arrested.. it was even more pleasant to ride

Overall experience this time with the Service Center guys were fine.. thanks to the mechanic Ram Prakash of Sahib Motors in Sahiabad Ghaziabad

Good that your problems were resolved.

Honestly speaking I feel like inviting you guys to my SVC in Kolkata and ZMRs getting a Service

Now regarding the Water accumulation in Tank.
Have never faced this issue till 32000 Kms and then it suddenly happened after coming from one service.
Went to my guy in the next servicing and got it resolved.

But I watched the process very keenly as I keep hearing this issue in the forum.

Basically what happens is that the rubber tube gets a bend inside and this is very strong one making a L or U shape.
                            Hence water never drains off.
The mechanic cut that part from the tank to bent portion and again inserted it.
N need to worry since the tube is pretty long.

Very simple mechanism and normal science and then again it resolved.
Would advise all the ZMRians to get this done to rectify this once for all.
34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

Yup.. you are right.. But in my case there was not bent on the tube There were rust piece from the tank mixed with sand which was blocking the water from flowing out of the tube..
