The SAE90 oil is totally VFM.Originally posted by rohitmundra View PostI find chain sprays really costly...so took the alternative (using drained engine oil)
i will be switching to SAE90 grade...difference is..it must be thicker than the engine oil. Hence, it will be there for more kms.

Well even chain spray's splatter!Originally posted by chilled_fire View Post^^^ try Yam service center seems they have it now for R15s.
Also am using Veedol SAE 90 oil it wrks fine the only disadvantage is as Niranjan mentioned it gets splattered on the mags which looks bad.
I've used chain sprays for close to 15K kms (Wurth+OKS), after using both gear oil and chain spray I've learned that its more about the technique(method of application) that actually makes a diff. With gear oil I get minimal splatter these days.
I'll try and put up a post for cleaning and maintaining the our chains. Coz my chain sprocket lasted really long, I got it changed at 20K kms, which is a lot more than what it usually runs. So IMHO, I must be doing something right...
<hopefully>
My first chain spray (Wurth) lasted me almost 10K kms. And I used it really really liberally. But the 150/- rupees of gear oil will definitely last me the lifetime of my bike. So yes its totally VFM!Originally posted by jigar View Post^^ as per me, sae90 oil is just perfect! total VFM... handy.. easily available.. and good results too! Those spray cans finish up real fast trust me!!
Well they have categorically mentioned that they don't do deliveries, but the website allows you to place an order....Originally posted by Aryan View PostThe problem is there is no option to purchase it online. They do not ship it outside Pune! Ridiculous, really.

Get it loosened right away! Even some good bike mechanics can help you. Not necessary from PBK.Originally posted by jigar View Post@nitro: man.. the chain is soaked in oil... and please do tell me what is the other method? I also feel the pull in lower gears has decreased somewhat. And the sound is for sure... Should i wait to get it loosened on its own or get it done right away? or ob is better place to do it?
I had posted this before crash. They are some simple steps when u start the bike.
I had also experienced something similar.
1) Start the bike and put her on main stand,
2) Put her in first gear and let the wheel rotate freely,
3) the rotating of the wheel is not smooth and the engine sputters,
4) the wheel will rotate with varying speeds and it will even drop to low speeds, don't worry it will not stop,
5) after some time the speed will stabilize and so will the sputtering of engine,
6) your bike has now come to a stable state and can ride her.
This method works everytime for me in the morning. The bike is smooth for the rest of the day!Last edited by nitrosatya; 11-13-2008, 08:40 PM.

U'll probably get this thing @ Orion Motors, B'lore (the yamaha auth. showroom). Btw... I got mine from there (to Mumbai) onlyOriginally posted by prafultripathy View Post
The Motul Chain Spray does not stain the rims as Oks does. The motul thing is more 'sticky' than the other sprays.
Btw... am using Oks... and pretty satisfied with its performance.... just spray it less.... to avoid stains.
@Pranay: NGKs are available at JC Rd.... heres the address from NGK India website

I pray that u put up a thread ASAP and make it sticky as well after getting a mod's permission. It wud be helpful for newbies like me!!!Originally posted by prafultripathy View PostI'll try and put up a post for cleaning and maintaining the our chains. Start from how to remove a chain to how u put it back. Maintaining an open chain seems to be more demanding than maintaining a chain with a closed cover!!! Damn...

yeah.. i remember you posted this earlier on xbhp... but how does it help the chain? If i m right, this method is for checking engine harshness right? Still, iwill give it a try and secondly, get the chain loosened a bit.
Btw, any theory as to how ur method logically works will be appreciated!
Thanks again!
Glad that xBHP is back... and glad to be back on xBHP!!! :D

errr... i am not an engineer, but figured this way out somehow! I guess something in the engine area from where the chain comes out of it, re arranges itself! That is my theory!Originally posted by jigar View Postyeah.. i remember you posted this earlier on xbhp... but how does it help the chain?
