This is my first post in Xbhp. This is an awesome place for bikers, i have been following the posts from quite a few days and its very informative.
I got my ZMA R 2011 (gray), 17th last month. From SAI motors,bangalore.
It's always been my dream to own this angel from a very long time, now that i have it, i'm enjoying every bit of it.
Have completed 1100 kms on it. maintaining an average rpm of 3.5k during the run-in. the bike performs really well, superb acceleration,handling,throttle response, and superb smooth engine.
But i have a few bothering concerns
1.At the time of delivery the SS guys filled in 1 lt of fuel, I got it filled completely at a shell outlet (Shell normal petrol). the maximum i could fill was 16.2lts, considering the capacity of the tank at 17lts this is normal.
And after a few days of riding i completed 630 kms, i had to change to reserve, so i thought i was good for another 80kms atleast until the bike completely runs out of fuel as there would be 2 lts left. but to my surprise the bike ran out of fuel at just 50 kms. how could that happen?

2.First service done at 650kms. As i had to go somewhere i asked the HH SS guys to only wash the bike, change the engine oil, and check the spark plug. but from that day on the bike doesnt seem so smooth,there is knocking even in the 1st gear. the throttle response is not at al free.
Had been to the SS, they said it is normal after the first service.Could this harm the engine in anyway? Engine oil level is also OK.
But why is this happening? please help me out guys.

To all ZMA owners:

I understand that ZMA comes with 35/35w headlight. Can ZMA take 60/55w bulb without any mods? Sorry for my poor knowledge on this section, i just read somewhere.

Hai everybody i joined xbhp tis mnth. My Zma R(red new design) compltd 500 kms and is due for 1st service. Wat all should i tel the showroom guys, i got a decent mileage of 45 or above considering tat i ride below 4k rpm and mostly on open highways at 50-65 km/hr.

I once complained to the and after that the tuning was so poor that though I could comfortable reach 80 kmph but took ages and long stretch to do a 100 then got it reset again.

If not a divine intervention an expert intervention could help me. I am not greedy but a decent 32-35 would make me happy. Thanks in advance.

I'm a two stroker, however, have shared the general aspects of bike with regards to your post.

I see there are two clarifications in your post.

1.Are you saying that tuning made your bike sluggish to climb 80 to 100?True
2. What do you mean by reset again? - Are you saying that carb was again tweaked?The fuel screw was loosened to make the mix rich

Mileage and speed are two different segment. If you want mileage, yes the carb might be tuned lean to achieve mileage.

If you are getting below expected mileage, the carb is tuned slightly tuned rich.

My thoughts:

Need to check the carb, jets etc.Okay
When was the last time AF was cleaned?3months or abt 3000kms back
What's the color of sparkplug right now?I havent checked it, will do it.
Check the clutch plates.My bike is 1 yr/10.5k KMs new, so am doubting if that could be it. this condition is since day1
Apart from the above, quality fuel, regular checking of chain, sprockets, and wheel bearing do play a role in achieving desired result. try to fill from reputed pumps most if not all the times, chain tension is verified, sprockets and wheel beearing? what should I look for?

Seems as though the A.S.S had made your AFR lean.Check the spark plug color..the center electrode should be chocolate brown and not white. if it is white it confirms that your bike is running lean AFR. You can ask the same A.S.S to make it rich...which should solve the problem.

After going through the threads I am beginning to wonder how my ZMA R is consistently returning around only 25-28 kmpl even when I ride sane . I once complained to the and after that the tuning was so poor that though I could comfortable reach 80 kmph but took ages and long stretch to do a 100 then got it reset again.
