When you allow more air ,then adequate jetting alteration is needed...But apart from this the inlet Veturi velocity will be less with a free flow airfilter leading to drop in fuel atomization and ratio. This is felt most at the high RPM when the successive air pump events are taking place, and inlet vacuum will be less ,compared to low and mid RPMs.In a CV carb this is taken care of to a great extent...A flat slide non-CV carb will not be so tolerant....
Yes you can try the larger paper air filter with good results...
Since you are not interested in Red Lining but only in quicker acceleration your present set up with a little tweaking will keep you smiling for some time.

There are chances when your roots remote lock might fail:-
      1. When your bike battery malfunctions
      2. Modern theif knows what needs to be done i.e cutting wires
      3. If the place you have parked is remote, he might even take good time to find the wire when the first beep goes on.
This is all I could think.

+1 heard a lot about the same but difficult to source as well as expensive compare to regular security systems.
You may forget rest of the security system available at the market. XENA is the best of the best product available today and certified worldwide, just take a look at their website.

You may get in touch with someone who is flying down from US to bring a piece. buy from amazon.com and ship it to your friends/relative place since amazon has shipping policy might restrict certain items. Even if, Indian Customs might confesticate considering some potential threat who knows..

I got one last month and I'm happy to go any tour and never mind if the place is secured or not. It actually jams the front wheel disc and the built-in alarm shouts to a slight shake. I'm more happy withe disc lock which is at it's best. Spent 3k approx and I consider it as an investment.

      • Hello folks ... need some info ...

recently i had an accident ... and bike skid for about 5-10 meters ... the good news is i didnt get hurt ... few scratches on elbow and knee ... was cruising over 100 kmph on NH8... but my bike got hurt .. right side cowl scratched ... as in the fiber part ... silencer cover ... and my handle bar ...

handle bar replaced for about 450 rs.
        T joint approx 650 rs ...
and now going for insurance for cowl and silencer cover

        My query is ...

i was riding above 130 kmph ... and was at 8k RPM ... for about 15 min ... continuously ... does it effect my engine ... ???

        • Thanks Sriram and acs1207. I did not opt for security system right now but once i take the delivery of the vehicle i may. To begin with i will prefer some
mechanical system (like a disc brake lock). Please recommend some good ones.

As for helmet i already have a Studds Ninja. Need one for my wife though.

Welcome. Take your time and buy XENA and you'll never regret. With regards to Helmet, check out LS2 (with DOT certified at the rear bottom) else do not buy. I have long list when it comes to helmet but again it would be too much info and would come with a price tag like .

Ok , gotcha .. Happy Onam to you too psr'jee .
Yes I've measured float level on open carb by this method with vernier calipers . It's old and inaccurate (brass) ; a bit tricky to get correct readings with , but works . There is however another method of finding the float level , or float malfunction indication without opening the carb ... since you work much with carb tuning .... maybe you can use it sometime so lemme explain .
You'll need a (semi) transparent flexible tube of the size that fits the drain nipple/tube thingy snugly . About six inches of it . Fix it to that drain tube and make a U and cellotape the open end to the side of the carb , open end upwards . Open the fuel-tank petcock & the carburetor drain nut . Fuel will rise in the tube you just fitted and come to rest at the same level as inside the carb float bowl . Correct level for kehin carbs is just where the float bowl meets the main carb body (+/- 1mm) .. I believe . Higher level = richer mix , lower = leaner .
I am wanting to get a fix of the float level now , before opening anything ... in case I mess things up badly .. I'll have an idea where to come back to . Very scant info available on this Keihin PB carb (14mm I think) on the internet or elsewhere .

Have been taking the by-pass , have to check the NH soon . BTW do you think your engine was warm within that short distance ?

cool i just saw the debates and i agree with you all, But for every ones information, am using the same HL since 9 months. plonked hids before 3 months and now the FACT IS THAT THIS SETUP WORK LIKE CHARM, at least for me!! To reduce the power conception, am using leds in my tail lamp and all 4 indicators. removed ma rear license plate lamp. with this ive
low rated angel eyes and demon eyes.
Both angel eyes and demon eyes ?
not finished yet, i've a cell phone charging unit,
                  Gotta get myself one !
a roots gladiator security system,a real time volt meter , a pair of roots wind tone and another pair of roots Elephant tone horn.
I'llbe following you in some aspects shortly !!
Yup all in one bike and i still say all these works pretty well! ALL SAID AND DONE.

Disclaimer : As i said earlier, THESE THINGS WORKS FOR ME BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT IT WILL WORK FOR OTHERS!
Slowly , gradually , I'll make most of 'em work for me !!
                  THANKS

You can claim insurance or all the parts above mentioned,You will get more than 70% claim for handles and T-Joint,You mean T-Bar by T-Joint??
Handle is only some 200rs and T-Bar is 300rs.

Even if your engine had completed run in period,I wont recommend riding it above 130km/h,Why stressing the engine so long?

Yes,I had tried this and was hitting the side panel and it wont close properly,so modded like this and now its ok.

Ji, Yes I am aware of the method...except that here we are trying to set float level..it is the level at which float just touches the float pin..under actual condition the float rises and closes the inlet by pressure on the float pin..so there will be difference in the petrol level..ie., if you do the dry method of opening the carb and setting the float height the amount of petrol ,thus set, will be higher than when set WET, by the tube method.

Setting the Petrol level in bowl is different from setting the float height level...both will be highly different, since float sinks about 40 to 60 % in petrol ,depending on it's weight before floating to close the valve.

By setting the float in dry method you set it once and close the carb for good...in the wet method you may have to open and close the float bowl a few times which is not good for the sealing gasket and screw threads.

yup it was , kept the bike in ideal ~half an hour prior to the ride.

                        • Got the brake pads changed this morning at the SVC. OEM Nissin pads cost Rs.1115/-. The disc has got the bite now .

Does anyone here face the problem of front number plate fouling with the mudguard when taken over a pothole. I am facing that issue & because of this, there is a big scar on the front mudguard. Any solution?

1115 for pads thats a relief.
Yes the no plate touches the mudguard when you ride on rough roads and on big speed breakers,my bikes mudguard is very badly scared and also developed a crack near the bolt.Solution is to remove the no plate and get the no sticker-ed on the visor.

I'm experiencing the same problem . That seems to be the only solution . . but is stickering on the visor legal ?
