Read above answer !!You'll get to know the steed as you pile up the miles.
Learn to use front brakes along with rear brakes - later on you'll see that you use front discs more than the rear brakes .

Make sure to clean and rub the inner of the drum with emery paper. This roughens the surface and produces more friction and hence crisper braking. Also when you get new brake shoes fitted the cam also needs to be adjusted. IMO get it done at a local mechanic. Its a 10 min job.
In the pic you can see the HH emblem on the old brake shoes . The new one are compatible ones - ASK is a known brand .
Emery paper project slated for this weekend - provided my memory doesn't fail me !
Can someone enlighten me about brake cam adjustment ?

It'll be reassuring to know the brakes are there if/when you need them even if it is not used regularly .
My RX brakes were pathetic - I used both front and back .

Don't increase front weight too much ..
Rear tire change can be done to increase rear height - I guess.

Yeah bro,90 profile tire(eg:110/90-18) will increase rear height by approx. 1 inch.

Can i fit the pulsar 150 handle, it is a little heavier.
Over a period of time you'll get used to. It took some time(couple of weeks) for me to get used to ZMA when I bought, earlier was using Unicorn. Stick to what manufacturer has provided on bike as far as possible. There is every reason behind the way the bike is designed. It is tested with all the parameters taken into account before it is released in to the market. Altering the design, say in this case changing handle bar might cause handling issues.

I've already given the reason above. As it is already advised, may be if plonked a bigger profile rear tire might help to gain some height. Again, the intension was to have large foot print on road but not other way round.

I deligently use both front and back brakes. It is always front brakes that actually makes a difference in reducing the speed considerably. And while cornering (not many times) would only use my front brakes

Dear friend, RX in general known for a decent brakes(f&b) that came with the bike. I've always considered them to be well balanced between speed and control. Yes, insane riding or riding behaviour might make them look weak and for that si for any bike.

Well , RX rear brakes were good occasionally - that's when I adjust them . They faded pretty fast and I got used to them .( with Zmar the front will fade out faster,I guess) When I adjusted them they were much better than my ZMA r's brake. I sort of wore out brake shoes like they were lollypops . My motto was and still is - it doesn't make you less macho if you use the horn and brake more often . And I think front brake lock is worse than rear brake lock . When I sold it my Rx was running on 2nd oversize piston (skipped the 1st) and had close to 200000 km of history , but would still get past 120kmph on speedo with ease . Ha - nostalgia. Sorry for the semi OT.

Personally I don't mind the light feel of Zma front. Anyway now after changing my handle bars to clip-on the front does feel heavy. Btw, I don't think the pulsar handle will make any difference by its weight alone. If any, it should come from shifting of position.

To make it clear, My clip-on are quiet low as well as further away, so I kind of lean down a lot more than stock handle. They did feel kind of heavy initially, but now I got accustomed to it.

The catch: I had to remove my fairings. Low clip-on cannot be fitted with fairings.

Re: Increasing rear height, I recall reading one post where someone actually increased the rear by repositioning the piece that connects the shocks on the swing arms. Another option is to weld in a new bigger piece that will set the shocks higher up. Elongating the shocks is also possible by adding piece of rod, though highly undesirable. Just saying its possible if one must.

I guess you have changed the whole body panel including the headlight and tyhe rear cowl. How much did it cost you?

I booked a Red ZMA-R in early Sep (in Bangy). Yet to receive it. I was told 30-45 days, but i see it extending to 60 now. The dealer's sales rep told me that earlier the company sent 3 loads of ZMA per month but since Aug they are sending only 1. Also, last week they deliverd 3 ZMAs to people who had booked in Aug. I did see few black ZMA's and ZMRs on display last week so may be situation has improved.

I assume the delay is due to the Impulse. Production line has now one more model so it would have eaten into ZMAs share.

Brakes on RX have never been of trouble.
There is one thing which i observe not every mechanic practices.
When one fits the drum brakes and is tightening the axle, the wheels should be locked and then the bolts tightened.

Whenever the bikes are getting serviced ensure the shoes are roughened and cleaned (dry). All this is not done at a SC. They only tighten the brakes.

It would be great if we could have a excel sheet maintained of this.
A google spreadsheet where the part no. and prices are posted and maybe updated.
This way anyone wanting to get parts can simply look up for the prices instead of posting repeated requests on pricing. i usually buy my parts from outside and hence the prices would not be accurate. So if someone can start this, it would be great.
