A wise choice indeed, but is 20w40 the factory recommended grade for the 2011 ZMA-R? I ask because this used to be the grade several years ago when i brought the ZMA brand new, I remember the factory grade having changed to a lower viscosity level now? Anyway, unless i am mistaken - grade change may void the warranty. If you have a good rapport with the SVC folks, they may let you get away with it.Originally posted by siddhesh View Post

AFAIK Thats a decent mileage figure he's getting.Originally posted by Aneesh@4GHz View Post@ Brat Bro

Highway don't know. Didnt get a chance to check
Ripping at 120 kmph gives 31km per litre. Ripping in city gave 38-40 when hitting tops upto 100 kmph.
Restriction of RPM at a specific point is'nt the air filters fault, it aint the carb also(i.e if the RPM's constant, if fluctuating then the carb may be the probelm.).... The prime suspect is the CDI or SparkPlug or its distributor cap.Originally posted by sunny_ View Post@PSR Sir,
Again that problem is back Sir, I experienced while riding today morning. I rode for 50 kms, toook a breakfast break and then when started it ran well but after sometime again rpms not going beyond 4-5k rpm, or it does but not like the way it does and also NOT crossing 6k anyhow!
I had reported this problem to SVC but they did not respond anything. They were just "pick up problem hai??" "airfilter saaf kar denge thik ho jayega".
Can I do it myself?
Help!
In my ride they applied a clear coloured gasket. It was mildly milkish.Originally posted by Aneesh@4GHz View Post@ Brat Bro

And now:
Paid tappet adjustment costs 50/-. And please do complain. Except the oil everything else should be free.Originally posted by siddhesh View Postyday i gave my bike for 2nd service at iceberg...mumbai at georegaon and told all the problem i had with the bike.in the evening i went to take my bike it was ok but i was shocked to see tht they hav charged me for tappet setting.he said he remved my tank and did the tappet setting so they charged me with rs125 for tappet setting.so my question is tht is tappet setting included included in free service and they also charged rs267 for crap hhengine oil which i didnt told to change and he gave me an excuse of low engine oil level so he changed the oil wit 1.2l..
the total bill was as follows...
e.oil...267
consumable..30
tappet set...125
chain spray..75
+ vat .....62
total...559....
so should i post a complaint with hero for this....
If you'r talking aboutOriginally posted by Aneesh@4GHz View PostYes bro,The shop guy forced me to buy Meguiars Mirror Glaze Diamond Cut Compound 2.0 which eats layers of paint each time,I asked him for the 3M.
Also get the oil leak problem solved asap bro,After that you can enjoy riding without thinking about oi leaks.
Ashwin used this "Meguiars Mirror Glaze Diamond Cut Compound 2.0" for polishing last time without knowing its cons and Formula 1 is not available here.

Then thats not it. The one am using has 3M Yellow Wax written on the bottle.
LOL.. Like the NASA thing...Originally posted by Brat View PostAs far as wax polish is concerned,
1) We get what we pay for.
2) Salesmen will tell us that it is the same polish that was used by NASA to polish Apollo 13 before it went into space.
3) Whichever polish we buy, someone has already had a bad exp with it.

sigh... How i wish the leak issue is as easy to fix as it appears.
Hopefully, me and my friend will get enough time to spend on it.
And Sir, Wipe and clean the whole engine with a damp cloth till its spotless and then redline the bike from 2~4th gear and check for leaks. After pinpointing them, fix them. Most probably the tappet door nut will be the one to blame, cause I was facing the same with my ZMA, i.e until we did the DIY and replaced it.Motorcycling Experience:

My zma got hurt this morning..
Was riding up to Nandi hills. All was good and was climbing up the hill. The road there is a bit narrow and there are a lot of blind curves. My headlight was on and i kept honking all the way. A bunch of morons on their bikes were coming down. They weren't wearing helmets and they were just speeding down. One of them was in the opposite side of the road heading right towards me. I braked and almost stopped but that guy couldn't. He came and banged me head on! I was almost near the edge of the left hand side of the road. And this *$@!#$ comes and collides head on!
Front forks got bent a bit and the headlight glass has chipped out a bit in the bottom. It's like I can insert two of my fingers into it.
Anyways happy that no serious injury happened. Rode back to the city like that only. Have to get the forks straightened. Any idea what can be done for the headlight glass?

Air filter was replaced in the previous service itself, so it is only 2k kms old!Originally posted by Aneesh@4GHz View PostHow old is your bike? Have you changed/Cleaned air filter before? For cleaning airfilter you have to blow pressurized air into the filter,I think atleast you need a blower to clean it.
1. Checked, except the carb part.Originally posted by psr View PostThe way to trouble shoot is as follows..
1. check if you have any contaminants in petrol like water or thick dust..in tank, in petrol tap filter and in carburetor.
2. check the health of your Air Filter.
3. Check the spark plug, and it's cap for proper fitting.
4. Check there is no loose contact in CDI connector
5. if after all this proves to be good, ONLY then suspect carb slide jamming.
I do not know your skill level and so I cannot straight away advice you to carry out the procedure to solve by opening the carb and working on the slide. However I will tell you the reason and how to solve it
The basic reason for the slide jamming is because the moly coating on the slide ,shedding and getting caught between slide and barrel of carb..
The fix is simple, you have to remove the carb from the bike, open top of carb, and the spring, rubber skirt and throttle slide with needle all can come out.You will see that the slide has black coating,...and where it faces the throttle valve, the coating will already be gone..rest of the places it will be present as a black coating..Now after removing the slide ,with a zero emery paper(black and fine emery)gently rub the slide from top to bottom till all the coating is gone.TAKE CARE NOT TO SCRATCH THE SLIDE WITH HIGH PRESSURE RUBBING., AND MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT DAMAGE THE THROTTLE NEEDLE OR THE RUBBER SKIRT.Make sure that the coating is uniformly removed from top to bottom, and leaving even a small area will result in jamming again....
IF YOU ARE NOT A SKILLED PERSON DO NOT ATTEMPT IT AS IT WILL RUIN THE CARBURETOR, NECESSITATING REPLACEMENT AT Rs.6,000/- +.
Part no 15 is the throttle slide inside the carb
2. Sir, air filter is only 2k kms old. Changed it in the last service.
3. I'm doubtful here because I'm telling them to change the spark plug since 15k kms but they are saying that the plug is perfectly fine and should not be changed.
4. No idea about CDI connector, I'll search the net for info related to this.
5. My skill level is zero as of now, and even the SC guys dont agree to play with the carb.
The funniest part is that this problem gets solved automatically after some time and therefore I cant illustrate the problem to them and they are ignoring this!

^^^ Bro. When you remove the seat of you'r bike you'll see a box like thingi near the rear end strapped onto the frame, its on the brake side of the bike. Just remove it, inspect, dust/clean and place it back. Aneesh bro had posted a pic of it.
But before directly jumping on the CDI I'd suggest you inspect the sparkplug and the distributor cap first.Motorcycling Experience:

I faced the same problem about two months back. It was indeed the fault with the carb slide getting stuck. Took me a while to convince the SVC but finally got it replaced under warranty. You start the game with a full pot o' luck and an empty pot o' experience... The object is to fill the pot of experience before you empty the pot of luck.

Be warned, this may sound stupid.
Is it possible to swap ZMA's transmission??? i.e for a 6 speed or maybe a more sturdier one.???Motorcycling Experience:
