        1. Normally ZMA shows 3,750 RPM for 60 Kmph,on 5th gear...if it is more and you feel it does not have good acceleration, then your clutch plates are Kaput.
        2. Engine suddenly dying out may be due to CDI loose contact,or frozen valve, both of which are self healing... If you are caught with dead engine try starting with kick starter..if the kicker goes down without resistance, the you have frozen valve, which will go away after a few kicks,or waiting for 5 to 10 minutes..
If you have resistance while kicking then try to start without giving throttle. If bike starts and idle but cuts off while accelerating then it is a case of CDI connector loose contact. For CDI connector loose contact you can open the seat and shake the wires to the connector and bike will start and be normal...later on try spraying WD40 into the connector and refixing it.

The clutch plates were changed recently in October. Anyways would go to CBZ tommorow for servicing. Also I noticed some oil leaking from the front forks. What can be the reason? I guess the oil seals.

Compression Loss. To confirm, next time this happens try using the kicker to start, if there's no resistance, total loss, if theres minimal resistance partial loss.

Just for my doubts sake, please check for any visible oil leaks. Or next time when you notice loss of performance, accelerate the bike in neutral and see whether you hear any phat phat noise, if no then try accelerating post 5k in 1st gear and observe for the same.

Yeah the kick brings back the baby live in 3 tries atleast. There was some oil found on the crankshaft. Also a smell like burning oil is found after the bike is taken above 80km/hr for long.

Smell of oil is common in ZMA.

Anyways just as a precaution its best you replace the required packing to stop the oil leak. And also keep a check on oil levels.

                  • I am facing a wierd problem in my zma-r. There is excessive vibration in the handle at around 40-60km speed. If i leave my hand i can clearly see the handle moving left-right. I checked from a mechanic but found no rim bend. Can it be anything to do with the cone set. Bike had completed only 8000km and has not met with any accidents.
Also does any one know where can i get the balancing of the alloy wheels done in bangalore?

Was rim bent checking done visually or using machine?
When wheel balancing is off, it results in vibration at certain speed.

Most probably you have tire wobble..get it checked.

A local mechanic removed the tyre from the rim and inspected it visually. I am trying to find a place where they do it with a machine.

Asking as a dent, for example, on the edge of rims, can be easily detected visually. Though such dents may not cause wobble/vibration. However if rim is even slightly deformed, like not perfectly round, or say you are looking at rim from the front and its not perfectly straight. Such small defects will be hard to detect by naked eye and requires precisions tools.
                            My opinion would be.
                            1. Check whether rim is deformed.
                            2. Check bearings.
                            3. Check wheel balance.

Sorry, can't help you where to check them.

                            • ok, I will carry out these steps once i get hold of someone who has these tools.
