Differs from ZMA to ZMA. In mine(2011) the bike revs till 9.6K before hitting the brick wall(Note - No rev bouncing i.e ghi..ghi..ghi). But if I stay post 8.25K in any gear for a while then the bike shuts down.Originally posted by Jdsouza81 View PostAshwin, Could you elaborate on the rev limiter. Sorry, if its been discussed before, I must have missed it.
I recently rode from Mumbai to Banglore (around 1000 kms) with speed mostly above 110, not once did the bike stall or give any issues as such. Mine is a 2010 model and had completed 20K kms then.
In PSR Sir's(2007) IIRC the bike revs till 9.5K.
In Aneesh's(2006) the bike revs till 10K.
In a college seniors ZMA(2009'ish) the bike revs till the 10.25K mark.
Nope, no physical damage since HID's emit less heat. But the stray glare may be a pain to oncomming traffic.Originally posted by adityazma8315 View Posthey guys can i install hid bulb in my zma without projector will it affect my reflector plzz help me with ur rep

I was planning on Glass fiber reinforcement, and you have done cotton fiber one...it may not last long since the fibers are not that strong...but yours is very practical, and an easy DIY...Originally posted by Jdsouza81 View PostLike every ZMA owners, I had an issue with cracked front mudguard and side panels. I had tried using feviquick, but it would not last.
With the advise of one of my friend, I filled the cracks with feviquick and cotton. It has held strong since, even through the pothole filled NH66.
Has anyone else ever tried the combination of cotton and Feviquick before? When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Aditya, this has been discussed in detail in the past. Scroll back a few pages and you will find the information you need. I dont want to either, very satisfied with the bike the way it is at the moment.Originally posted by psr View PostYou cannot touch Rev limiter RPMs on 5th due to taller gear ratio, but in 4th you can..though I wouldn't do it..

Oh, so that is what it is called. Good to learn new thing on this tread .. specially thanks to you PSR sir.
So far the cotton fibre reinforcement has held on strong. Lets see how long it lasts. You start the game with a full pot o' luck and an empty pot o' experience... The object is to fill the pot of experience before you empty the pot of luck.

For lubing chain will try the oil grease combination next timeOriginally posted by psr View PostReplies in bold.
. The thing is that when grease is used too much sludge will accumulate. Oil just goes off after some time only needs to lubricate periodically. So when I do a long trip its grease + oil. And at other times its just sae 90

And regarding helmet this was the only one model in the shop that my head would fit in. I tried atleast 25 helmets all were tight. The shopkeeper was losing his patience.

I agree the choke returning is a boon indeed. For me too its really irritating when my rearview mirror is adjusted by people to see their hairOriginally posted by psr View PostCan't say that....HH might be saving the cost of the ball and spring, and also getting auto return which will ensure users don't ride with choke "ON",and report poor FE and bad bike performance. In such circumstances the auto return of choke is a boon...

Me tired of sludge and chain lubing, so washed chain with diesel sometime back and has been dry for the past 1.5k Kms, will let it run for sometime more then once again wash with diesel and after drying will apply chain lube spray.

For the neutral find :- It is the same as Sunny mentioned earlier. That's the method followed for my other bikes, infact most of the bikes, including N250R.
Ninja 250R has an additional "positive neutral finder", when we tap the gear upwards from 1st gear when the bike is standstill then it won't go beyond neutral. I don't know much, but read this in the N250 R ownership thread and googled it to find it out.
Sorry, couldn't read all posts due to lack of time. I'll be back to xbhp from 20th onwards. Happy riding.

.
During slight crosswinds at speeds of 110 kmph the bike tends to be unstable. I was travelling at speeds between 85-100 kmph most of the time. Bike is quite comfortable in that speed range.
I filled 10.32 liters of petrol (normal petrol) and covered 394 kms. The suspension is good but the bike tends to dive when applying brakes. The front suspension needs to be bit more stiffer (wish it was adjustable too like the rear shocks
). Riding over potholes and speed breakers was comfortable.
The little disappointment was when cars overtake me even while I was at speeds of 100kmph. Reminded me of doing 135+ kph on the speedo but still chasing an Alto
on NH2 and was unable to overtake it until few smart truckers were met ahead.
And all the trucks and cars doesn't bother to dim the headlights
.
In this thing, I think most truck drivers are very much caring for others when compared to car drivers and others (atleast where I live and ride mostly) and they do "dim" there headlights whenever I:
1: put my headlight to low beam, or try a few dippers
2. turn off the headlight for a second and again turn it ON in low beam.
(In case first doesn't work do give a try to the second method, most drivers do understand this and respond as well; if both methods don't work, decrease your speed
)
And above all my GF said she loved to sit on the bike and it was very comfortable
. That comment made me damn happy.
Yes, that feels "above all" indeed.
I am using SAE90 oil for lubing the chain and almost after covering 250 kms at these speeds the chain started to make noise. The oil is good for city use and not for long hours of touring, better shift to grease. Or else have to carry a can of oil along.
That is a good idea, atleast a small bottle kinda thing.
The helmet was a total piece of sh*t ( vega moto cross model)
. Really it was paining my head and the visor was a total pain, causing a lot of glare
. Honestly 1600 rs gone waste.
Sad to hear that.
Overall the bike is worth every penny I paid and of course the 20w 40 is the best for touring. The bike had its refinement all day long
.
Conclusion of the day is peace of mind.Originally posted by psr View PostAshwin yesterday and to-day I had been exploring the Auto choke return symptom you had noticed....My bike has this..ie., the choke returns to rest automatically when I let go of the lever and my ZMA is 2007 April.. I tried the same with a friend of mine's 2008 ZMA and it was stuck in actuated position, till it is pushed back...when I opened the left switch assembly and checked the choke lever, the one Marked difference was a steel ball with spring in the choke lever which was missing in mine.....Since my friend wanted the "Auto-return" choke, I applied heat on the steel ball (with soldering iron)and removed it and the spring , and now the choke lever is auto return....
So the stock choke lever has the ball while the ones opened and closed may not have it....Here is a picture....
So I've to bug the mechanic to check this thing, or else I might result in a jammed and stuck choke lever again leading to choke cable replacement.

I dislike the "twist-the-throttle-and-lets-enjoy" part the most, feel like slapping the one who is doing it. Sometimes when they are not satisfied with twisting the throttle in a counter-clockwise direction (as seen from right), they de-twist the throttle in clockwise direction beyond the stuck point.

I'm thinking of buying a baraclava, don't know how much will it be helpful in this regard. Though I'm worried about its side-effect whether some pretty eyes turning on me would get afraid when I take off helmet and wearing a baraclava

Yup. Thats how I do it. Cause 1st gear's too rigid and 3rd gears too wide.
Yes, I've touched it in every gear except 5th, quite a number of times
When we near 130Kmph mark, the bike'll be past the 8K mark in 5th gear but just a millimeter before 130Kmph(Lets take 127Kmph) the bike'll shutdown.
Why such difference?!
Its better we leave that question to Hero Honda.

Kinda same pich, cause the rest of the guys know whats good for them and dont usually bring their bikes to college. At first was worried about getting it scratched and all, now I dont take the effort to care.
. And about grabbing attention, I usually ride slow i.e below 3k, yet they look at me. Unlike the R15 and P220, the ZMA's an eye turner.Motorcycling Experience:

We both race against each other in the entire speedo range upto 140 kph, no shutting down!

There are 2 2011 ZMA's in my college. A red one and a black one. The black one's mine and shuts down just before the 130Kmph mark, where as the red one belongs to a friend and once when discussing about bikes he said his bike's got a complaint that after crossing 125Kmph on the bike, it dies. He's not that much into bikes, just a casual commuter, so like anyother commuter he was expecting the bike to do 140Kmph since thats the expectation everyone has about ZMA's and since his shutdown after 125Kmph he was worried and hence approached me to get a better understanding about warranty and whether he could get the issue sorted out by using it.Motorcycling Experience:

I couldn't find a logical reason as to why your bike is shutting down there and why your friend's ride is not going beyond 125kph; although earlier my cousin was worried about his bike not going beyond 125-128 kph, but now after 3 services, his bike shoots very well and he even overtakes me when I'm doing 132-135 kph.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostStrange, all ZMA's I know which are manufactured after 2010 does only upto 130Kmph speedo.

Can the Iridium plug be the culprit?
I want PSR Sir's input here, not regarding what a Karizma has got potential to do, but how is Ashwin's bike shutting off at that point...?
Also, Ashwin bro, you mentioned somewhere (I couldn't collect where) that, Karizma cannot do higher speeds (140+) with the current CDI unit, so do you want to say that if we replace the stock CDI unit with something else, from any other bike from Honda (say VFR 230, doest it have one?
) then the performance will be enhanced???
Plus, in your pic, FE is written as 20-55 kmpl!!! 55 kmpl???? Are you sure? When and how? Elaborate. :OLast edited by sunny_; 01-06-2012, 05:01 PM.
