Aluminium heatsink? Where do we get that?Originally posted by psr View PostThe only difference is both have Aluminum heatsink for the RR unit, to safe guard the unit against heavy charge /discharge condition.
The ZMA generator can produce 15 amps of current at 3 K RPM,and so charging of the battery is not a problem.I had for a month driven the ZMA with a dead battery, prior to battery change, in the night with headlight turn indicators all working well.
If the battery is the wet Lead Acid type ,and not Sealed Maintenance Free, then suspect the battery..
If it is only 3 months and 9 AH SMF battery check RR and coil stator plate for problems.
Great that you're enjoying the grip but it seems funny to visualize rear tire in frontOriginally posted by MAXzma View PostRode around 30km yesterday evening with the new rubbers.[Michelin Sirac Street in the rear and Ceat GRIPP on the front] The front seems to be much heavier than before! It requires a little more effort than before to turn. So its more stable. Also it sticks on the road!!
Previously, even if there is a little loose mud or water on the road, the front will slip a little but now the grip in the same surfaces is so good! Loving the grip on the front, but not sure how it'll do in curvy roads..
SriRam Sir, no aluminium heat sink you're using?Originally posted by SriramEfunds View Post9ah battery, Philips Xtreme vision, dual horn, no problem in my bike for last several months. Should I consider myself lucky?
Should I try my luck too then?

Read my post again...I had said we both have Aluminum heat sink...It is made from our common plate used in the kitchen..get a plate with good thickness of 10 inches dia....cut a 3.5 inches width strip in center and fold iy exactly half...you have the heatsink...3.5 inches x 5 Inches..Originally posted by sunny_ View PostAluminium heatsink? and the positioning will be..
The area marked in Yellow stripes must be bent backward to prevent it from hitting the side panel. The heatsink is positioned AT THE BACK of RR, and you have to drill holes as per the RR mounting boltsLast edited by psr; 07-04-2012, 11:43 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

It's wonderful to see the DIY pictures taken then and there while we try new stuff. Infact these are priceless information one should go save those pics with details for reference. Yes I never thought those pic., will come in handy in future...similarly the 6 to 9 AH battery conversion done on your ZMA...it had already helped 4 members ..Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostIt's wonderful to see the DIY pictures taken then and there while we try new stuff. Silver jubilee kms (25,000kms)
It was just 1 year and 4 months back when I took the delivery of my Silver Falcon (the Karizma R). It was kind of a Birthday gift to myself and a long awaited upgrade.
Just a little flashback : In the year 2003 when I got eligible to ride (got my license) we had a Bajaj Chetak and a 6 month old TVS Fiero which dad had purchased in Nov`02. I was given the Chetak to ride and sometimes the Fiero also and I always liked the later because of its sheer sound and flickability. I hunted down a Suzuki Fiero with very low kms run and the engine was too good. Convinced dad to sell of the Chetak and picked up the Fiero. We also got a Fiero FX later in the year.
I always wanted to have good lighting which I really lacked in bike and also installed an aux lamp, but the battery would give up in few minutes because it could not effectively charge the battery.
Here is how it looked:
Fast forward to year 2010, online I met Gagandeep(an xbhpian) who had converted his Fiero F2 to DC(Direct Current) which improved the lighting and he was running on 2 HID's. Got in touch with him and converted my Fiero to full DC. So now I could have my lights ON without the engine idling. By this time I had already covered more than 1 Lac kms and wanted a decent upgrade in terms of power and lighting.
I was a little skeptical at first on buying the Zma because all these years I had a headlamp which was moving with the handle whereas the one on Zma was still. Also wanted a comfortable ride for myself and pillion. The other criteria was it should be full DC as I was spoilt with the upgrade on my Fiero. Went to the showroom one fine day in Nov`10 with my better half and booked the Zma and that too a silver one as I did not like any other colour in it(my personal opinion) and my earlier bikes were also silver
Had to wait for 3 full months before I could get my Falcon and the wait was killing. I had already started collecting the stuff I would change like tyre, headlamp, horns, crash guard(since we did not get any from the company). Finally the D-day and I took the delivery of my Silver Falcon.
This is how it was delivered.
This is how it looks now.
The day I got the bike delivered, I immediately changed the rear tyre to Michelin M45 (4.00 x 18). Next upgrade were the horns and most importantly was the headlight. Changed it to Philips Xtreme 60/55w from the OE 35/35w bulb. I also installed a relay for the headlight as the stock wiring might not take the additional load, in addition to this, the bulb will glow to its full potential. The horns were also installed but again wired through the relay.
Got a pair of aux lamps and wired them also using a relay. Changed the pilot lamps to led's Philips T10 model to be precised.
In these 25k kms I have changed the following parts as part of general wear & tear:- Disc pads - 12k kms
- Spark plug - 12k kms
- Rear brake liner - 17kms
- Rear tyre - 24k kms
Had to change the front fender also as it got cracked when I hit a pot hole and it banged in the crash guard.
The 25K kms mark
The journey to 25k kms mark was very smooth, I took the bike on long rides and rode non stop and never I felt like the engine was tired. It is very relaxed and the riding comfort it provided was very good.
Nothing much too write about as the ownership is smooth sailing. Shall keep you guys posted on any new events.
Till then all the very best to all and wishing you all a very happy & safe ride & trouble free ownership.
P.S. Sorry for the long post.
Thanks for reading

Could you please mention the name and model of the bike for which this crash guard was originally made for. And do mention the cost as well.Motorcycling Experience:

Do the service centers stock all the rubbers in the front fairing? I have been asking two service centers here and they always said not available.
After six years, the rubber mounts became brittle and are gone. Particularly, rubbers on either side of the console, and the rubber cushion between the headlight and front bracket. I want to replace all the rubber parts in the front fairing. Anybody can help me?
@imjoshee, congratulations for the milestone. Wish you do more milestones with the bike.

@Imjoshee - Wonderful milestone there. The bike hasn't look old at all. Looks like it is receiving close attention. Keep it up.
@Ravi - Funny incident happened. Last week had given bike for paid service. I showed them that chain adjuster plate is missing that needs to be replaced. At the counter asked for the part, the guy patiently asked me to get the part from local distributor as they do not have stock, I was like WTF?? I felt like laughing at the same time so much of frustration. So I've gone all the way to stock some consumables for ZMA else would be shown an empty hand by these so called SVC.
The bike's one of the throttle cable is kaput and running on the other. However, have the cables so it is just matter of time will have this done. SVC has no stock.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Sir..after connecting the fully charged battery, started the bike and kept the bike in idle..the battery testing meter which the guy possess showed 12.8..when throttle given above 3000rpm it came to 13.00..numbers never moved up regardless of the rpm the bike revvd..When self started the meter readed 11.34 and then sloowwwly came near 12..the guys says that the rr is weak..is that so sir??Originally posted by psr View PostConnect the battery and start and idle the engine..If the voltage across battery shows 14.25 battery is in discharged condition, if it is 13.5 it is ok. Regarding display going off without battery I had not tried it...so cannot give you proper answer. I suspect the battery...and if it is ok then the RR which will be confirmed by the voltage reading...a varying voltage seen at idle across battery indicates RR problem.
@all: how much does a stock RR unit cost??"safety will be the sturdy child of terror, and survival the twin brother of annihilation"

Test with a digital Meter...a fully charged battery will show 13.5,and a half charged one will show 14...and a dead battery will also show 14 Volts since the Cells have died and the battery no longer poses a load to the charging system....Originally posted by vivekarizma View PostSir..after connecting the fully charged battery, started the bike and kept the bike in idle..the battery testing meter which the guy possess showed 12.8..when throttle given above 3000rpm it came to 13.00..numbers never moved up regardless of the rpm the bike revvd..When self started the meter readed 11.34 and then sloowwwly came near 12..the guys says that the rr is weak..is that so sir??

With a Digital meter if at idling the meter shows 12.8 and rises to 13 at 3 K RPM,then either the stator coil or RR is going defective....When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.
