Bike has been in SVC for more than 3 months. Bike was ridden to SVC.
Gave for complete overhaul.
1.Timing chain.
2. Valves.
3. Tensioner.
4. Cylinder Kit.
5. Clutch friction plate and bell/vase.
6. All seals and gaskets.
1. They're saying that the bike's not starting cause the timings going off, cause the timing chains getting stuck and getting mis aligned. They want to replace the flywheel completely and quoting a bill of 4k. This is the exact terminology used - "Timing chain'te CHAVI poyi, so timing correct aavunilla."
2. Brake fluid replacement was mentioned, they called back saying that the master cylinder's missing. So they replaced it with Glamours. Keep in mind the bike was ridden to the SVC, they're saying that the bike came in without the master cylinder.
@Everyone, please help clear the above issues.
i waited this long patiently as i din't want them to screw up m bike in case i spoke harshly...Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostWhy is the bike standing there in the service station for three months?? What guarantee can the Service Center give that the bike will be intact for three months?
Keep the bike for another month, and they say you gave the bike without engine. And, keep it for another month, and they may say, you gave a bike that has been met with accident.
the first two months went like... cylinder kit in stock, timing chain kit out of stock... then timing chain in stock, cylinder kit out of stock... when both are in stock, rocker arms out of stock...
so finally fed up, i rode 120kms just to get the spares they asked...
after providing the spares i asked for a complete engine overhaul...
i even rode the bike yesterday... & there was these peculiar sound... 1 was a ting ting noise & other was pss pss noise... they said both was due to damaged gasket of silencer...
today when i finally called up the svc for delivery, they said the timing chain flywheel lock got jammed in the crank & it came off & the flywheel was rotating simply... they said they tried putting the lock back but timing is improper & wont stay... they said the bike wont even start now...
did they screw up ???It does feel great to have a tank of petrol between your legs & explosions just under it.

please help!!!
Its been 3 months since i upgraded the battery to a 9ah one. Everything was fine until the day before yesterday. A little later after returning form my office early in the morning, when i tried to start the bike it refused..the starter cranked but soon it behaved as if the battery was low. during the second attempt the display completely went off and teh trip and clock reset. strange
..after me kicking the bike it started and all was good until I switched on the headlight 55w philips xtreme vision..The bike behaved exactly as if it was having a 6ah battery like in the past. I thought it might a loose connection in the rr or something..Hence, I removed two connectors from the right rear panel and inserted it firmly. Once again the same symptoms. SInce it was due for service I left my bike for regular paid service informing about the weak battery. I clearly mentioned the fellow over there that it is a 9ah one and not the regular one. The guy assured that he will take care. During delivery of the bike saw the bill..Rs 60 for charging the battery. Thought the issue was clear and started to office. Regular 30 kms drive from my home with headlamps ON. Once again the horn got weakend, self starter refused and dim headlight, everything was normal for the first five or few kms though.. What might be the issue..Where would the problem be..Is that with the rr unit or coil responsible for charging the battery or etc etc OR with the battery! Please help guys!!!!!

The battery might be the culprit. Check if it is leaking and get it replaced under warranty. Similar thing happened to me. I had an exide which was one yr old and just out of warranty. It started behaving weirdly, not getting charged while the bike is running and so gave it for mechanic to charge it. Buckled up to the bike and tested it, again it got kaput after one hour and not charging. So when i went to swap mine for a new battery, the battery shop wala has pointed out that old battery was leaking and hence its not charging. The reason for the leak is due to rough handling of the battery terminals by the svc mechanics when i gave it for service and the acid leaked from the terminals which i didnt notice and untill it was too late for the old one to rip.
Try swapping you battery with another one and check it.-Lokesh

Calling PSR sir and seniors..
I doubt if the engine is sufficient enough to "always" charge the 9AH battery

I too seriously doubt the the mechs at the ASC might have rough handled..They say that they have charged the battery..but when checked I found that the tags which I used to secure the battery in place intact wern't ripped off to access the terminals since in my bike the battery is placed in such a way that the label faces the frame so as to achieve stock battery's terminal set up since the terminal cables aren't lengthy enough.Originally posted by LOKZMA View PostHi Vivek,

Me and Mr.Sriram both have converted to the Amron 9 AH SMF battery in 10th month of 2011....and till now both of us run on 50/60 headlights and everything stock. We don't have any problem of starting or dimming of lights, etc., in day or night time driving....Originally posted by vivekarizma View PostI too seriously doubt the the mechs at the ASC might have rough handled..They say that they have charged the battery..but when checked I found that the tags which I used to secure the battery in place intact wern't ripped off to access the terminals since in my bike the battery is placed in such a way that the label faces the frame so as to achieve stock battery's terminal set up since the terminal cables aren't lengthy enough.
I too Join you sunny..Sir please help.
In fact both use the bike once in 3 or 4 days only now,and our batteries are good...The only difference is both have Aluminum heatsink for the RR unit, to safe guard the unit against heavy charge /discharge condition.
The ZMA generator can produce 15 amps of current at 3 K RPM,and so charging of the battery is not a problem.I had for a month driven the ZMA with a dead battery, prior to battery change, in the night with headlight turn indicators all working well.
If the battery is the wet Lead Acid type ,and not Sealed Maintenance Free, then suspect the battery..
If it is only 3 months and 9 AH SMF battery check RR and coil stator plate for problems. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Thanks Ashwin!Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostYeah its worn. Replace.
Costs approx? Is it better to get it done in the ASC or outside? I know a trusted mech. Will check with him.
Rode around 30km yesterday evening with the new rubbers.[Michelin Sirac Street in the rear and Ceat GRIPP on the front] The front seems to be much heavier than before! It requires a little more effort than before to turn. So its more stable. Also it sticks on the road!!Originally posted by sunny_ View Post@MAXzma, have you tried leaning or slight cornering with this setup?
Previously, even if there is a little loose mud or water on the road, the front will slip a little but now the grip in the same surfaces is so good! Loving the grip on the front, but not sure how it'll do in curvy roads..
We are miles away from the routine.
Headlights rise over the horizon.
Pierce the morning fog.
Cut through the clutter in our minds.

to confirm that the problem isn't with the battery, I have given it for charging..When checked with a meter which the battery service centre guy had, It showed 11 and he said that the battery is low in charge since it wasn't getting charged when the bike is running. He too suspect the rectifier unit after looking at the display when the bike is started. When battery removed and bike started, how the display should behave..Should it be blank with nothing or should show info asusual! when my bike is started without the battery, the display flicks and resets continuously for every 1/2secs. The display just goes and comes back resetting every possible thing.. IS that normal? because of this I suspect that the RR unit is the culprit!! experts, what do you think??"safety will be the sturdy child of terror, and survival the twin brother of annihilation"

Connect the battery and start and idle the engine..If the voltage across battery shows 14.25 battery is in discharged condition, if it is 13.5 it is ok. Regarding display going off without battery I had not tried it...so cannot give you proper answer. I suspect the battery...and if it is ok then the RR which will be confirmed by the voltage reading...a varying voltage seen at idle across battery indicates RR problem.Originally posted by vivekarizma View Postto confirm that the problem isn't with the battery, I have given it for charging..When checked with a meter which the battery service centre guy had, It showed 11 and he said that the battery is low in charge since it wasn't getting charged when the bike is running. The display keeps flickering when the battery is not connected. I gave my battery for recharging once and during that time i had to ride the bike for few kms without the battery. But dont remember about the trip getting reset, but for sure the display keeps going on and offOriginally posted by vivekarizma View Postto confirm that the problem isn't with the battery, I have given it for charging..When checked with a meter which the battery service centre guy had, It showed 11 and he said that the battery is low in charge since it wasn't getting charged when the bike is running. My Karizma had Osram Nightbraker since end of 2008, and 9 amp MF Bosch battery since mid 2009. All is well so far. ;-)

) around 110kph for sometime continuously. All of a sudden, the engine screams! The rpm is still high but no power to the wheels and the bike starts slowing down. I have done this before with the same pillion till around 250km and no issues. So I just slowed down a little, downshifted and continued. It was fine after that.
