The headlight comes as a single sealed unit i suppose. You cannot dismantle the reflector alone. I also have smoking in my reflector but its liveable with.Originally posted by sunny_ View Post
Sir please lets not make anyone afraid of the reflector burns because he would never make it out from the throw of the light until and unless he intentionally look into the reflectors
However an idea from my side is if we can get access to the reflector then we can paste some aluminium foil at the particular line, it wont get dull due to its resistance towards heat.
After one year of riding finally my bike fell down
. Was expecting this someday
. Well it was not an accident at all the bike fell from the side stand. I parked my bike on loose soil on side stand and it fell off to one side. Thanks to saree guard and footrest. The left mirror, clutch lever and indicator took the impact. Damages are minor scratches on left fairing and indicator thats all
lucky me.
Today did DIY sprocket cleaning and lubing. Used bearing grease from Gulf. Pretty thick so mixed it with oil and applied. No sound at all and smooth too. Have to see how much kms will it last.
Also bought shell AX7 for 330 rs. 1 litre bottle. Didn't change the oil though will take it to the mech soon.Cheetahs are faster but the lion is still the KING

While changing oil I found that by keeping bike on side stand most of old oil comes out..and While on side stand , SLOWLY kick the kicker...you will see oil gushes out through the drain hole.In fact it will spray for at least 30 Cms from the bike...so keep a long tray underneath to catch all oil.....do this slowly a few times, and all old oil will be out.If you do this thoroughly, you can fill in 1 Liter oil without issues.Originally posted by Vishakh View Post

Thanks a lot. The reason for not changing it today was the confusion on how to measure 900ml and pour it in.
I thought of measuring and filling it and keep the rest for top up. Now I will try this.Cheetahs are faster but the lion is still the KING

Hey Lokzma, nice to hear that the upgrade works perfectly. the stock headlamp is not that good and its a pain riding in the nights with hi-beams from the opposite vehicles falling in the eyes (very common on hyd roads). BTW, where do you stayOriginally posted by LOKZMA View PostHi,
Was having tough time riding my zma at night with the stock headlamp. Have used Philips Xtreme Vision +100% light in my optra and found excellent improvement over the stock, so thought over why not get the same xtreme vision installed in zma.
Today went up to MAHESH AUTOMOTIVE in Feelkhana, the only stockist of PHILIPS EXTREME VISION in hyderabad bought a H4 60/55w and plonked onto my zma. It was absolutely bright and as they claim, the beam was very long and wider.
I stay 20kms away from the city and needed to do highway riding regularly, and today i have found much improvement (almost 200%) in visibility and didn't strain my eyes at all.
Though they cost on a higher side, night time visibility and safety is important. I can damn sure assure anyone will be satisfied by the kind of improvement by using this bulb in the stock specs without upgrading by adding relays, ceramic holders, burning up the reflectors.

Philips XTREME VISION
Hi Suresh,Originally posted by suresheadala View PostI have been looking for this from long time, did not find one. What's the cost? They come as a pair or i can buy one bulb?
They are sold in single. MRP was 600 bucks for H4 but got it for 550 bucks.
I have attached the pics. the bulb inside is the old one as the new one is installed in the bike.-Lokesh

Hi vivek,Originally posted by vivekarizma View PostGood to hear! I believe your bike is with a 9ah battery..If not, upgrade to it..It will put a big smile even if you ride with headlamps on for 3+hrs. Im thoroughly enjoying the light spread and all credits goes to Sriram. It just its up the road like anything. slapped myself during my recent nonstop complete night ride from banglore to chennai for not using the xtremevision with a 9ah battery. Enjoy pal..long way to go!
A month ago I changed my battery to the stock specs
. As you said 9ah would have been the best. But i will make sure that i will turn of the head light at signal junctions and when the engine is not turned on so that the load wont be put on the battery. I think zma generates around 200watts so i dont think using the stock spec battery wont be an issue for time being. I will make sure that will upgrade to 9ah next time when this one dies out.

Philips XTREME VISION
Hi Sriram,Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostThanks for another review. I'm enjoying this for a year now. FYI.. there might be some reflector burns in the long run. But We can always change the reflectors but can't mess the night rides.
Exactly as you said, our visibility and fellow motorists visibility is the top safety factor during night rides. I have observed the reflector thickness and material feel of the zma headlight, it was almost similar to the thickness and quality of reflector provided in indica which has a stock headlight of 60/55 w. so i dont think it will cause any burns and designed to withstand the heat generated by the new bulb. But I will take proper care while using it.

Why's one of the horns facing towards the rear ?Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostYou're talking about the Roots Vibrosonic, very loud.
I believe you'd be happy with Roots Windtones.
Pulsar horns are quite sharp . I don't know whether adding one to the OE will beat it .Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostAdd Pulsar hi-tone to the stock horn and that's more than enough.
Is it really necessary to shift to 9Ah just for the horns ? Afterall we use them only for a few seconds at a time . If h/l upgrade ( to 55/60W) is there then I think it is a must .Originally posted by Vijay1911 View PostIf you switch to dual horns, please upgrade your battery to 9Ah from 7Ah(stock) as current current consumption increases.
Look for ROOTs horns, maybe they can help you out. Here is the link

To get full use of the 55/60W Philips , a relay is recommended . Just think that the OE wiring is meant for 35 W usage . May be it may not fail , but what if it does ?Originally posted by LOKZMA View PostHi,

Where can it be bought ? At car accessories shop ?Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostThen give this a honk! I'm currently using it. Went and tried the Pulsar horns but felt that they were'nt a considerable upgrade from stock. Originally was heading for the Maruti OEM's but by accident/luck stumbled onto these, real VFM and louder than both Pulsar horns and Maruti OEM, but at the same time retains the conservative nature as well as its a plug and play.
Tractor horn from Addon. Costs Rs.290/- IIRC.
Correct .Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostThanks for another review. I'm enjoying this for a year now. FYI.. there might be some reflector burns in the long run. But We can always change the reflectors but can't mess the night rides.

However an idea from my side is if we can get access to the reflector then we can paste some aluminium foil at the particular line, it wont get dull due to its resistance towards heat.
If the battery is new , just be careful that the rpm doesn't go too low with h/l on . You may have trouble honking your horn if the brake light is on along with the h/l . Also , if the battery gets too low , the meter might reset when you press the starter button .
I don't understand why this kolaveri (
) about reflector burns . After all the h/l upgrade gives you a decent throw of light . I'm sure that even with maximum reflector burns possible the upgrade will give you much brighter light than the pathetic excuse of an OE h/l .
Thanx for the tip sir . Will try it in a week .Originally posted by psr View PostWhile changing oil I found that by keeping bike on side stand most of old oil comes out..and While on side stand , SLOWLY kick the kicker...you will see oil gushes out through the drain hole.In fact it will spray for at least 30 Cms from the bike...so keep a long tray underneath to catch all oil.....do this slowly a few times, and all old oil will be out.If you do this thoroughly, you can fill in 1 Liter oil without issues.
See a few points I've noted above .Originally posted by LOKZMA View PostHi vivek,

Observe whether you have the meter resetting problem .
The ZMA does generate nearly 200 W . But the h/l gets power from the battery and I think the battery will be strained to supply the power required when the rpm goes low . The 7Ah can supply you with 84W (12x7) whereas in 9 Ah it is 108W (12x9) . In 9Ah battery , you have @ 25% more power in stock at all times . Apart from the h/l , you have 2 park lights of 5 watts each , two tail lights of 10W each and the brake lights (2 of them ) consume 21 W each . The stock indicators are also 20 W each .
If you're sticking with 7Ah then change the park lights to LEDs , the tail lights to 5/10W and the indicators to 10 W . That'll do you a whole lot of good .
Happy biking

Thats the right position, the opening should always face down.Originally posted by acs1207 View PostWhy's one of the horns facing towards the rear ?
Try auto spare parts shop. Got it from one. Manju's Kollam.Where can it be bought ? At car accessories shop ?
You can give the Maruti OEM's a shot too, the one I use is just abit louder and way more sharper, and some people find sharper ones irritating.
Why the added effort and cost, IMHO just let it run like this, the stock battery can take one helluva beating, ask me I KNOW.Originally posted by LOKZMA View PostAs ACS said, I will change the parking lights and signal bulbs to LEDS so that it wont put full load on the 7ah battery. The trip meter is not resetting after starting the bike using self.
IIRC 9xx/- Aneesh had replaced his a while back with ZMR one's they look better and the ringhole doesnt chip off like the ZMA ones.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostDoes anybody know how much it costs to replace the entire lockset on Karizma?
