    • Tightened the front visor as there was minor vibration coming from the part. Tightened too much and the end result was cracks around the screws in the visor . Guys so watch out when tightening your bike's visor. Tight too much and cracks will form around the screw holes.

Ya go ahead and do it. No probs. Many have removed the lower engine cowl from the ZMA and trust me, the bike will run cooler!
The bike will run cooler as well as you won't be caught in the cross winds and the front end will be lighter . . .You will enjoy the lighter front end , I'm sure .Also , you can fit a crash guard if you want .

The plastic/fiber washers may have solidified . make washers out of old tubes - get an old tube and cut out a circle using a pen top as reference and use it as a washer . It will dampen the vibes more than the OE washer ..!

I bought visor washers a packet (Rs.15) and changed for visor seating and used all over the fairing side panels screws etc. to protect them from cracks and abuse in dur course of time.

Got double side tape and applied a small bit folded and placed them between fairing and visor and vibes from visor disappeared. Simple but effective I thought. Try this might work.

Anyways, TL tires for the ZMA are:-
                1. MRF Zapper C (stock ones that come with ZMR - 100/18 profile)
Pretty ok ok tire. Can last at least 30,000 kms. Gives up in rains/mud/gravel though. Good for dry roads.
Cost - No idea, it came stock with my ZMR
                2. MRF Zapper Q (110/18 profile)
Better than Zapper C in all conditions, but not the best.
                Cost - 2800/-
                3. Pirelli Sport Demon (110/18 profile)
                Superb tire, awesome grip.
                Cost - 3300/-
PSD comes in 120/18 too, price not known.

Thanks Divya and Zma10 for your suggestions. I am yet to decide on the size. Should I go for 110/18 or 100/18?

Also, I would like to ask if an engine overhaul is needed for my Karizma, it has done around 35k kms. How much does an overhaul costs? What is meant by an overhaul?

                  2. What is the price of the pinion attached to the front wheel which is connected to the speedo cable?

                  • No I havnt changed my tires but today morning took off the engine heat guard and looks like the bike is running cooler compared earlier and I like the looks of my bike this way, to me the heat shield was an eye sore every time I looked and now on the hunt for Honda CBF Stunner crash guard.
yes as for the gears getting hard I too suspect its the oil anyway I am not going to go to that service center anymore, I hope you are right Krish about the gearbox getting smoother since I used to drive old classic CBZ the gear shifts are nothing much to complain compared to my old CBZ, overall I am happy and untill now got an average fuel consumption of 45, 40 being the lowest and 50 highest not bad considering the CC and couple of my friends are getting the same figures, untill next time good luck to everyone.

                    • Wonder how you guys manage to get 40+ mileage. I'm always stuck at 35-37kmpl, Maybe my throttle inputs are not so right.

                      • I have got three close who owns Karizma and they all are getting above 40, for me I havnt given any bit of throttle yet, I was just riding with pea sized throttle input since I dont want to mess up the engine if it will by the wide open throttle and I am letting my bike attain the speed gradually and hasnt crossed 60 km/h yet and I know how hard its to ride it like a commuter bike since my bike is asking for more throttle and feels much refined when given a bit more throttle than usual. One thing that I noticed is fellow riders who share the road with have stopped bullying me since I started riding My ZMA and thats a good change and I can most of the times easily avoid the traffic with a bit of in put from my right hand.

Overhaul can include, bore+piston+crankshaft+bearings+valves +camshaft+cam chain+Chain guide+rocker arm+gasket+"O" rings etc.,...need will be based the level of wear of each component...
The pinion is called speedo worm gear.

35 to 37 is a good average in city driving condition for ZMA..making AFR lean will strain the engine.Better try to accelerate slowly, and use the petrol you fill in tank in a week's time.

Looks like the wiki people have reworked on my statement. They have compared ZMA R to BMW F650 which is still not justifiable in any sense.

                            • Increased AFR to 3 turns. I think mine was 2.5 or 2 turns stock. Couldn't observe properly as I was too busy checking if I am damaging the AFR screw. Didn't notice much of difference in the short test ride. Actually was planning to make it 3.5 turns, But when I made it to 3.5 felt the screw was too loose and may come off when the bike is running due to vibrations ( Am I correct here? ).

My cone-set needs a replacement ( My bike is only 11k kms old ), handle is a bit heavy these days.

Also burned my left hand due to contact with exhaust. Applied toothpaste.I touched the part that just begins after the cylinder. Oops! was too hot .

                                2) Fixing boxes at the side is doubtful. Fix a tank bag or just fit one on the grabrail like in the above pic.
                                3) can be fixed by welding. I don't know if any other bikes shifter is compatible.

ZMA is a good bike. But overall customer care and service quality is a big time head ache with Hero. And nowadays spares are available easily( most of them) and experienced local mechanics can do a wonderful job with the bike.

Heyy friend, compare to all others, the service of hero motocorp is quite good ... it depends on your proper service durations

But the post 2011 ZMA's lack quality in parts especially body parts. Initial glitches will take atleast 5000 kms to identify and rectify.

but I enjoy every moment with my bike. Maintainable , reliable engine, and you will love the torque ( except bullet owners) and handling.
Yes you are right, I am also facing same problem... the plastic parts are becoming worst day by day. I am still looking for problems in my 2012 hero ZMA.

Sir, you mean filling up once in a week? But how is it affect on mileage?
