If a higher rated fuse is replaced for a lower rated one, you'll see electricals getting blown every now and then!

Where do you stay in Bangalore? I mean, which area?
    Hi Sharan,
yup, checked and replaced as per manual. I stay near Kumaraswamy layout (Dayanandasagar college).

      Hi Guys,

I want to replace the rear Tyre on my Karizma. I am tired of changing tubes and punctures. Could you guys suggest which Tyre would be best for my bike?

      • Hello friends, I got my red beauty last Saturday completed 720 km today and the first service was also carried out today it self and few things that I noticed the gear shift became harsher and the engine is a bit loud and heats up more intensely and I was wondering weather to change the oil to some better one or not, will run the bike as it is for few days and if the character doesn't change then I will change the oil to some better ones.
Bike is dream to ride though I am limiting my self to ride the bike under 4000 rpm untill 1000 km but still its a wonderful touring bike and hasnt lost its charm even after this many years, I owned a black classic CBZ in 2003 and have to say Karizma is an improved version of the CBZ with none of the problems that CBZ suffered or thats what I think. Anyway I am hopping for a trouble free ownership from my red beauty

The bike had been around for two years, clocked 32000 odd kms. And.. I wanted to do something crazy.. So of all other options, changing the wheels sounded like a good option. The tyres were worn out anyway! So my friend, who is the man behind the fabrication/modification himself (he runs a garage of his own) hunted down the following spares from the market:
1.) Impulse front and rear rims- Yes, 19" front and 17" rear and stock tyres off the impulse (new ones, of course)..
2.) CBZ classic (old ones) rear drum, hub and front hub.
3.) Thick steel plate to machine an adapter to fix the stock break disc to the front wheel hub. and.. thats it..

It took around 3-4 days to "engineer" the fitment and it fits well. Please take a moment to check the pic.

          The differences are less:

1.) Front shocks have become hard, quite obvious.
2.) Not much increase in torque, but slight increase can be felt while riding on 3,4,5 gears.
3.) Mud-guard had to be modified (chopped to be precise).
4.) It is a nice ride when compared to the stock (NYLO-SLIP i call them) tyres- its smooth and the rear suspension has become quite soft for the pillion.

I am going on a ride till Ooty this weekend, will update more differences, (if any.LOL).

Hope you guys (atleast some..??) like this.

          Cheers and ride safe!!

          Karthik

PS: the mud-guard seen here is a makeshift one.
Mud guard worked upon and number plate bolted on to the fairing.

          Cheers,
          Karthik

          • Hi Shabeer Khan, congrats on the ZMA. After some service, I too had found the gearshifts got hard and engine heating up somewhat. So I think its something with the oil. In later services though, everything smoothened out.

Did you change your tyres to tubeless ones?

He too was perplexed.
Have you cheked the voltage of the battery when switched off and when the engine is running ? The RR could be the culprit .

                • Guys, I've been using Mobil1 10w40 for about 2.3 kms now. Planning to do a Bangalore-Chennai-Javadhu Hills-Bangalore ride this weekend.
                  Total distance - ~800-850 kms
                  Do you think
                  1. I can start Saturday evening and return by Sunday night (can't take Monday leave)?
                  2. The oil shall remain good post 3000 kms(frankly I don't have time to change the oil)?
                  Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Michelin Cirac and Ceat Grip are really good ones.. should cost you around 5.5k... Size: not sure.. coz i bought different ones compared to the stock tyres. The dealer should guide you correctly.

                              5.5k? Are you sure sir?

Anyways, TL tires for the ZMA are:-
                              1. MRF Zapper C (stock ones that come with ZMR - 100/18 profile)
Pretty ok ok tire. Can last at least 30,000 kms. Gives up in rains/mud/gravel though. Good for dry roads.
Cost - No idea, it came stock with my ZMR
                              2. MRF Zapper Q (110/18 profile)
Better than Zapper C in all conditions, but not the best.
                              Cost - 2800/-
                              3. Pirelli Sport Demon (110/18 profile)
                              Superb tire, awesome grip.
                              Cost - 3300/-
PSD comes in 120/18 too, price not known.

Ya go ahead and do it. No probs. Many have removed the lower engine cowl from the ZMA and trust me, the bike will run cooler!
