Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Friends, Quick Help on two things-
1. RVMs
Dont like Karizma stock mirrors. Dazzler's are direct fit but not liking them much either. Any other ?
2. TEFLON COATING
Is it any good ?
The bike already has teflon coating done long back. Its coming out at places. What should I do-
a. Leave it as it is
b. Get it ripped and get a new one done
c. Get it ripped and dont get teflon coating again. You can ride a Motorcycle any day of the month. ;)

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
If you are planing on changing both front and rear tire, then go for ZMR's front of 3.00 18(ZMA has 2.75 ..18) and from reports it is not advisable to go for Sirac street since it is hard compound and is made by TVS...Originally posted by ankit.traveller View PostCan I put tubeless tyre of ZMR or better in both fron and rear on stock alloys?
Or should I go for Michelin sirac street with honda tuff up tube at rear combination?
Only sirac street is available in Lucknow. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
For changing tyres my objective is to avoid punctures while on tour.If stock MRF zapper provide descent grip then I will put honda tuff up tube and keep original tube as spare.Had a good experience with tuff up tube- only 1 puncture in 1 lac km ( 2 tubes used with MRF zapper 70K Kms, 1 puncture, with sirac street 30k Kms, no puncture ), toured extensively on horrible roads.Originally posted by psr View PostIf you are planing on changing both front and rear tire, then go for ZMR's front of 3.00 18(ZMA has 2.75 ..18) and from reports it is not advisable to go for Sirac street since it is hard compound and is made by TVS...

It is not very easy to 'buff' the clear coating. You'll need to get the entire tank repainted if you play around with the original hard clear coat.Originally posted by Sajith View PostIts not telfon coating is coming out..i think it is clear coatings is coming out..buff the clear coating and coat again...

As for teflon coating.... why do you want to keep ruining your motorcycles? Teflon Coating-dupont, Making Fool Or Wt? - Team-BHP
Better to invest in a good wax like collinite or even motomax if your budget doesn't stretch that far and DIY every couple weeks.

Replacing it with Pirelli will provide great cornering and good braking too
The stock rear has been responsible for many skidsM3:15

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
The first few Kms if my memory serves me right 0~150 are a complete pain in the ass with the 7100, and you're spot on about it getting better. But to be frank it's not worth the price and effort, for me Motul was an improvement after Petronas, but later on when I started opening up to other oils, I kinda felt ripped off. The logic was simple, why pay a fortune for these so called single/double esters when we can get better performance out of something that costs just 1/3 of it. And to think of it, the 5100 and 7100 weren't available in my District had to get help from another Xbhpian to get hold of em, all the effort just to have a taste of the so called premium feel.Originally posted by pixantz View PostNice write up. I differ on the Motul part though. Agreed they feel a bit off at first, but the funny part is that they only show their true colours after at least 50-100 km. after that its bliss. Im runnin on 7100 10W40 right now
. Thanx for the detailed experiences. Will think about the Mobil after this Motul gets tired

Not going against your experience or anything like that and mine might even be an isolated incident.Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostAshwin, I don't agree with Petronas there. We had used that oil for more than 4 yrs in many bikes. We didn't find any metal scrapings as you found. There might be something wrong with your bike.
I had been using Petronas before I opened up my bike's engine. I didn't find any scrapes on any moving parts. You can see the pictures too.

My riding style is abit aggressive and that means a lot of redlining here and there. It's just that the Petronas wasn't able to handle that, am sure if I had ridden sedately then the story would have been in favour of Petronas, but my case was different. IIRC I hope you remember, I had changed the oil at night as soon as I got the bottle(had to ride a total of 300+ Kms to get it) and went for a speed run just after it, the oil did feel fine and everything was good, until I found shavings on draining it.Motorcycling Experience:

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
Even though according to my half dead odo the tire had done less than 10k Kms, it is pretty worn out and the buttons are nearly tearing out, but on a real scale with my daily runs and weekend trips, not to mention the harassment it has faced when I was away from home, it's a really long lasting tire, if it weren't for the lame wet grip, I would've gone for it again.Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostWow sirac lasted u 30k km? I still doubt it. Many in our xBhp friend's circle used this oil in R15 and they always pull harder till 9k rpm. And they have used this oil for years, not just once or twice. And there is an RTR too which used this oil for years and he does near redlining. Even recently I have given this oil to one R15 owner, and he was very very happy with the performance. And remember, Petronas is a reputed company worldwide for their lubes. Its hard to believe their oils scrape engine internals. Of course, you can believe the metal scrapings are because of oil, but its hard for me to believe so.

acs1207 psr AK3D Got the bike back from the ASC two weeks back. Couldn't visit the thread in that period. They found water in the fuel tank and the carb and they cleaned it. Have done ~100km after that with 60 of them coming yesterday. The bike feels normal.Originally posted by acs1207 View PostProbable causes...weak current ( check spark plug for healthy spark ) , lean mixture(afr screw / stuck slide / damaged air supply route / insufficient fuel due to clogged carb ) . Please check and post reply .
Two niggles:
1. Between 3.2k and 3.8k RPM there is a sound as if two metal parts are hitting each other as they vibrate.
2. Been having this since day 1: When the engine is cold (say when taking it out in the morning), it misses a few beats in the 2-3k range as if there is no fuel (even after idling with choke for 15-20sec and and without it after that for ~10sec). After riding for sometime (~1-1.5k) it becomes smooth.
Btw, does changing the engine oil to anything other than the one's mentioned in the manual void the warranty?

Re: Karizma/Karizma R
I am hearing a grrr grrr sound from the engine at idle rpm and i am able to feel something tapping on the cluth lever. A tappet setting was done recently and the tensioner lifter was also changed. The noise is very low and someone new to the bike definitely can recognize it. the bike has done 45000 kms. Experts please help.Karizma R
