That's the chain noise....chak chak chak chak.....really irritating and only way to stop it is to lube the chain. After riding in the rains, the chain usually demands a re-lubing.

Gear shifts becoming hard is due to the fact that your service date is near by, which means your engine oil is most probably gone with usage. Nothing to worry about, will smoothen out after the oil change in service.

            as per my knowledge
high idle rpm is of no use
bike performs well at 1300-1500 rpm

high idle rpm is of no use, consumes more fuel (if compared b/w low and high rpm)

and also, very low idle rpm (say, 1000) is injurious for the engine
            as it struggles to breathe

            • Went for 2nd servicing today & took a bottle of Valvoline 4T Premium but SVC guys refused to pour that oil. They said that they don't have orders to use oil other then Yamalube. Tried hard to convince them but no use, I'm highly disappointed.

I have HIDs on High beam only. Works very well! Low Beam is stock/halogen.

                  I too mentioned about it.

My bulbs (stock) have broken, I am thinking to revert back to 35/35 for the high-beam, but then I am not much of a night rider, so...

As far as I'm concern there is no pros of having an unusually low idle, apart from gaining maybe a half a km per liter of mileage.

The cons: The idle screw may fall off if it is too out of the socket, and since you turn it out of its socket for lowering the idle, a low idle will mean a loose idle screw. 2 guys here have had this problem and believe me the half km per liter saved with the low idle is not worth the trouble of sourcing a spare idle screw.

Pranjal has said that it is injurious to the engine, I don't know about that but still would suggest you to keep a 1300rpm on warm engine idle setting.

If you are new to DIY jobs then I'd suggest you to get it done from outside. And since your first service is becoming due in a couple of days, you could run the chain as it is for 50-60odd kms during this period and get the lubing done at the time of service.

50-100kms of riding with a dry-ish chain wont do it any harm.

The difference in a high and low rpm idle will be evident in bumper to bumper traffic, where in the bike will heat up more at a higher rpm idle. But then the fan and the radiator are up to it to handle the heat.

But if too low a rpm, it will stress the tappets, and you could be looking at more frequent tappet adjustments. So keep it in the right zone 1300+ rpm.
