Does increasing throttle cause any harm to engine and mileage ?

Accelerating a motorcycle may make the engine hot, but will generally not harm it. But it will definitely harm the mileage.Originally posted by Mayukh View Post

A 100-110 CC engine falls under commuter class, not sports category. So regardless of how much you might open the throttle, there will always be classes of motorcycles that can outrun yours.CB Twister Yellow

*Cant confirm them, maybe the Honda guy is lying, but the rear tyre is surely changed.....

Can anyone confirm me about mileage.....???Originally posted by been there View PostGood for you. Mine is the old 'bald' type rear tire. So every time I brake suddenly, I get a free slide. Makes my ride thrilling!!
Company claims 70 kmpl but many are gettin much more than 75 kmpl.
How can it be possible ??
Did you see the post where a member got 85 to 97 kmpl in his old Twister....??Last edited by Mayukh; 08-17-2012, 02:17 PM.

yes i myself have got 82-84 kmpl many times under economy speeds of 40-50kmph on highway(non stop) and personally have seen many getting 80+mileage....but 97 sounds bit too much.under ideal test conditions twister gives 85kmpl. this has been tested and certified by "ARAI" (Automotive Research Association of India).so 85kmpl is very much possible.Originally posted by Mayukh View PostCan anyone confirm me about mileage.....???

I think he probably wanted to say that the bike has been manufactured in 2012...because there is no 2012 model as such. the rear tyre is most probably from Tvs....earlier they used MRF zapper which did not had center groove for rear tyre. I guess the 2012 manufactured models are fitted with TVs tyres. where did you get this info of 114kg kerb weight?Originally posted by Mayukh View PostThanks been there. The IDIOT at Honda told me about the114 kg kerb weight but when one of my relative enquired about it at the showroom. That idiot told that including the saree guard and other accesories the weight is 114 kg......
In fact, I don't understand why honda isn't appointing trained and faithful people & mechanics ????Last edited by Mayukh; 08-18-2012, 04:01 PM.

Been facing an issue since yesterday. when i shift my bike into first and release the clutch, the bike starts moving even without me giving the accelerator any twist. It doesn't even splutter to a halt. What might be the cause? High idle rpm, Accelerator cable or is it the clutch?
p.s- its kind of convenient
. But i guess it wont be once im forced to chance the clutch!!

That's funny but I think there is nothing to worry about. I believe normally a bike would stop with a jerk but since you mentioned it is not doing that, I think it might be due to the below.
High idle setting combined with a clutch that won't disengage completely. The RPM give the engine enough to work with and the partially engaged clutch will keep from choking it. But I am speculating here, it could be some thing else altogether, so you might want to check with the mechanic.
Either way, I think it is just an adjustment thing and not a major problem.CB Twister Yellow

even me thinks that the idle rpm is high, high enough for the engine not to die and keep on moving in 1st gear. Anyways will try to adjust the idle screw tomorrow. If it doesn't work will take it to svc.Originally posted by been there View PostThat's funny but I think there is nothing to worry about. But if its only the high idle rpm, besides faster clutch degradation, will it have any other adverse effect. I'm kind of liking the ese of use it provides in traffic. Just release the clutch and you move!
Thanks for the reply.
