  • Try the motul 5100, it will improve the noise and the vibrations. Get your bike serviced regularly. Treat him well, and he will treat you well too

      • Yes, that's the reason, get your motorcycle serviced at every 2000-2500 kms or 3-4 months. Oil should also be changed at every 2000-2500kms. Try the motul 5100(semisynthetic), its the best for pulsar 180. Mrp is 550 rs. But you can get it for 500. And if you want maximum performance, try the motul 7100(fully synthetic), price is around 800. About the vibrations, show it to service centre guys. The headlight assembly has many screws and bolts, so i think that they are loose. As the mechanic to tighten them properly, it would be better if you get this work done in front of you. Make sure that they ighten every nut and bolt.

My ride is in mechanic shed.. I asked to fix all these issues i have written here..
"ALSO I ASKED HIM TO CHANG THE OIL TO MOTUL 5100"
He said this vibration issue is mainly due to the rattling sound of chain.. He also said that normal application of oil and grease, since the chain compartment is left open in this model, so there is a spray lubricant which can be sprayed whenever the chain become dry.
Im gonna bring my bike back today evening, let me update the result tonight.
          Thanks for the guidelines..

          • No no no no, don't get that spray. The spray service which centre guys are having is of bajaj, its all crap, no use at all. Get the spray of motul, its very nice, price is 500rs, but it would give you 10 sprays, and each spray is done at every service. So its like 50rs for a single spray. And the spray from bajaj is of 150rs, but it gives only 3 sprays, that means single spray is of 50rs. That means the price is same but the quality of motul is far better. bajaj people won't be having the motul 5100, you have to get it from outside. if your chain makes a lot of noise, ask the service centre guys to remove the chain and soak it in diesel for some hours, and after that dry it properly with lots of cotton cloth, and then apply the motul spray.. If the chain still makes lot of noise, then you'll have to get a new one.
            Peace

This is sathish, and i'm new to this thread. But i used to read lots of DIY threads and Reviews. I own Pulsar 180 UG4.

Here are the issues i am facing in my bike:

                1. Head lamp
                - Is it illegal to use white headlamps?
                - What is the allowed headlight power by Indian government?
                - If it is illegal, can we continue using the white headlight with lesser power rating.
(I heard that white lamps are powerful than yellow halogen lamps, so I thought its better to have white light source producing same vision with reduced power)

                2. Brakes
                - In my bike rear bread drum is not working perfectly. It locks most often, making some metal "Tappp" noise. Is it related with need to change break shoe issue?

                3. Engine noise

                - What could i do to reduce the engine noise in the bike. It became more louder and harder, it lost its smoothness.
                - Is it common for the pulsars to have the engine noise like more or less same as turbo-engine sound after high speeds? (more airy "ssssssssss" sound)

                4. Vibration
                - My friend says his UG2 150 is better than my UG4 180. While sitting behind me, he says that he can feel the vibration through foot rest and through the seat. I feel bad when he says like that. Is there anything i can do?
                - The console unit shakes like anything on some times, and it will be on its place peacefully on another times, the thing is, i noticed on same road, exact place.

                5. Air pressure
                - What should be the air pressure on both front and rear? I used to keep the pressure as 28/30. (Bike has the marking as 28/28 for single passenger, 28/32 for double. Since i ride the bike alone at most of the times, i keep the pressure as 28/30.)

It is OK, if it cannot be fixed or it is normal. All i want to know is the reasons behind everything, and is there anything that i can do for making it right.. Thank you..

                1. Look for Halogen bulbs used in pulsar.
                2. Get it checked by a mechanic. ( Y to take risk?)
                3. for engine noise, get your silencer de-carbonized, use motul engine oil, get all nut bolts tightened up.
                4. Balancer gear loading is a process which reduces the vibrations. ( My P180 was having this issue and the pillion rider was not able to keep his foot on the foot-rest because of too much of vibrations above 80Kmph.
                5. Search google with your tire specifications or read user's manual for air- pressure.

hello guys, i am new to this forum, i own a pulsar 180 UG4, 5 months old.

The bike is due for its 3rd servicing after 500 kms. The bajaj oil is giving me good performance and average between 48-58 kmpl.

But, my friend who also has the same bike 4 yrs old is insisting me to opt for motul oil now onwards. what should i do. The bike has completed 6200 kms.

Yes, go for motul engine oil.... try this 5100 4T.... The only problem with Motul is that you'll get the max out of it after 200-250 Kms of riding.... That's what I feel...

You may want to hava a look at this : - http://www.motul.com/system/product_...pdf?1292850417

                                pulsar 180. ug4. 6200 kms.

until now i have used d bike on an average speed of 45-65 kmph. have crossed 100kmph 2-3 times that too with uniform acceleration. currently it is giving me constant average of 48-58kmpl.

i m planning to take the bike to a long ride of 400 kms (to and fro)..it would be a complete highway ride, so speed would be a constant 90+.

will riding on high speed for such a distance affect the average of my bike..??
