Another question,I have a scratch on my right headlight. So,if I need to fix it,I gotta change the whole headlamp assembly, right? Only the plastic lens is not available from SVC?

@Shaunm: Regarding cosmetic mods and lighting mods,PM me...I can help u out a bit.
Erm.. who are these brilliant people who have suggested you the same? What is their technical reasoning for the same?? Have they personally have an experience with the RC FFE or just bouncing ideas on their own? Are they basing their comments on experience with parts from Haryono for whom Mik has such high regards for or just on an exhaust they or their friends have manufactered from a local lathe shop and then stickered 46 on it? My ride has crossed 9000 kms since the FFE mod only.. no problems, no tune up issues, no misfiring.

If i may would suggest that you can post your future queries either at the Modified FZ thread or novice's thread.

    • Dear friends,
Any one here ever tried 55/60 watt Halogen bulb in his FZ. Currently I have a 35 watt HID setup without projector setup. I wanna try the Halogen now. Please suggest it's pros & cons.
      Thanks

I'm running on 55/60 for 2+ years. Sharp compared to HID and brighter beam compared to stock. Drains battery more, but never for me

Guys i saw a nice initiative taken by rider Aargee on CBR 250R thread where they have put forward a collective effort to rate the various Yamaha SVCs based on their experience from all across India.

I believe this would be a good way to put up a good and resourceful info for all the FZ/Fazer owners across the cities in India both for Noobs and experienced riders too. So lets say if any of you guys are crazy enough to go on a pan india tour as well, it would be simple to decide which SVC to hit should you leave from your home ground and reach a city say Bangalore/Bengaluru in India. Then which SVC is best rated by Riders from Blore would be a big help and handy info for you. At the same time, for Noobs it will be easier to decide which SVC to opt for so that their rides are not ruined by inattentive guys.

Worse case scenario, once the compilation is done, same can be sent to Yamaha Back Office to give the company guys a chance to try and crack a whip on these morons!!

I would request all the members belonging to this thread to kindly do share their experience and rate the SVC in their respective places based on these parameters:

my touring friend in Vietnam (travelled all over, up and down, left and right) uses Philips-X-treme-Vision-100 light bulb. 55w. He rides mostly at night because of less traffic and he can ride faster. He's put me onto these lights and now doing my research the shop he bought his light from sells xenon projector sets quite cheap so my friend (non FZ rider) and I will be going there shortly to investigate.

              Thanks @ deville_56.

@Mad Mik, so, it is completly safe to install the 55/60. Is there any problem with the reflector in long run.

              Thanks

Just post on this thread as per the pointers. Write your overall experience as per the questions and then vote each point from a scale of 1 to 5 out of 5. I will then compile all the responses into one single post. If anyone is keen then we can make it as a sticky or else will put it up as my signature or anyone can make it theirs.

For reference you can see aargee's post link. I have just broken it down into pointers to make the answers more clear.

@All: This will really help building a database on the same. So your cooperation and feedback on the SVCs will really help. Thanks.

                Cheers,

I bought my fazer 2012 model from Raj Yamaha Velachery, but heard that service is worst there, heard some good feedbacks about Ambal motors, still there are some negative feedbacks. Paras motors also having very bad ratings.

I am confused, can you please tell me?

                      Thanks a lot!
                      AFAIK none are good.

I generally go to Raj Yamaha, canal road service center. Only because the service manager has patience to listen to the issues bike has and he can communicate in english(am still learning tamil).
                      You can reach him @ 95510 77549

Overall the quality with them, as with any other Yamaha service center in chennai, is not good. however I still keep going to this ASC as I have complained against them twice and so they work on the complaints properly. I inform about the complaints bike has and get to know if the required spares are available and once confirmed give the bike for service after taking the appointment.

Very clumsy at work, basic things have to be pointed out after taking the delivery of the serviced vehicle

They do get the service done on the same day(if bike is given in morning)

Would always prefer to get it done through a local mechanic, but couldn't find a decent one. Until then will be going to these folks only.

Your bike's chain has developed uneven tight and loose spots due to uneven lubrication. If the bike's chain is getting loosened very often you may not be lubricating it well.

This is how I do it (after relying too much on the mechanic and spoiling my chain)

Please note this is somewhat risky and a very crude way (as I do it in first gear - Not necessary). But I still prefer doing it this way. You can use long dispensers or chain sprays!

1)Clean the chain by rubbing off the gunk collected using a long brush. Repeatedly wipe the brush with a cloth. (You may use kerosene WD40 etc.) - Third Image below.
2)Put one cap (around 40-50 ml) of EP140 on the chain uniformly. Repeat with another cap (40-50 ml) - Second Image below.
3)This is how the chain looks after the application. (Not one the best looking ) - First Image below.

The first time I did it - I kept the bike as such for a long duration for the chain to imbibe as much lubricant as it can. If I do it just before a ride, there are chances of it flying off and very minimum residual lubricant available for imbibing.

I heard that the whole chain set replacement costs 1300 something - Am I missing something here?? Will the most recent chainset replacer please come forward!?

Do you notice your light scattering all around due to the halogen reflector? People who put HID's into their halogen reflector headlights cause a lot of oncoming traffic to be blinded by the unfocused light. If you don't have a projector by now I'd recommend you get a projector and then your lighting will improve.

This afternoon I had a look at the 2 types of projector lamps the vendor had for sale, Does anyone know how "long" the longest projector light you can install into a FZ headlight?
The vendor has 2. One longer and one shorter. The longer one had a much better focused beam, being a tight half circle for a longer distance. Also has 2 different colored angel eye ring around it.
I'll be getting it installed tomorrow morning.

He also showed me the "rope" LED's. Pretty impressive stuff that rope LED, Similar to Audi's LED's on their headlights.
Very flexible, you can practically tie a knot with it and it still works!!
You can fully immerse it in water and it still works!!
I got some ideas for it now. Stay tuned!!

This is EP140 - Easily available at any automobile oil/spare parts shop or the nearest petrol pump. Use 90 or 140 gear oil if you cant find any.
