Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hello,
Done 800 kms on the new MRF REVZ-M and reviewing it as requested by a fellow xbhpian
. As mentioned in my previous post about changes in this tyre from the stock REVZ, this one seems to provide the solutions for problems faced on the stock one. Loving my experience with it currently. The bikes returning 2-3 kms of mileage more than before
and also felt a slight rise in rear height. The only thing with this tyre is that it isn't that grippy as the stock flat one, but it isn't that bad either. Meanwhile riding on this new tyre feels like there is less burden on the engine, feels a bit pacier than before.
Hope this experience continues and feel that MRF has done its bit to rectify the flaws in the stock REVZ one.
Hope this helps the fellow fz/fazer riders, as the rear tyre issue is the most bothering thing for us
. REVZ-M is not a bad option at all ! Being 140/60 its a perfect fit and no fuss such as handling issues and all.
Happy Riding!

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
If you are unable to find cheaper options then go to Orion motors opposite forum mall. They have the lock. Ask for disc lock. But it's fairly expensive there. INR 450 last time I saw a year ago.Originally posted by Danny Samuel View PostI wanna put on some u lock or disc lock on my FZ 16 cant figure out where I can get it in Bangalore.........I live near Koramangala

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Best to stay away from these. They can be broken easily and in worst case scenario when theft fails while trying to break the disc lock, disc rotors get damaged.Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostThere are simple disc locks available in the market for rs. 150-200 (also on ebay, snapdeal etc )
As suggested by a fellow member above, OP can walk to Orion Motors Koramangala and get himself the cheapest yet decent lock (not 100% safe) for 500 odd rupees.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Thanks bro... guess i will get it replaced during my next servicing that is coming up soon.Originally posted by kusmaker View PostFz has got an endless chains there is no master link, reason being becuase whenever a chain let's go it is always or most of the time from this master link, that's the weak spot in a chain so you have to remove your back wheel and then take off the chain from the bike, some chains comes with factory riveted mechanism, these rivets are hard to locate if they are not brass one.

Thanks bro..Originally posted by accuengineer View Postno the chain does not have a chain lock. The are O ring type of chains. You need to replace them once the back tyre has been moved to the extremes. What is your current Odometer reading?
cheers

ODO reading is 30k and wheel is at the extreme setting. I will get the chain replaced in the next servicing which is soon..in 10 days..sigpic

WoW 30K. The chain and the sprocket set has done an excellent job. Please change the full set (i.e) chain, small sprocket and the larger sprocket.Originally posted by raj0690 View PostThanks bro..

Fantastic buddy running an open chain for 30000kms is quite commendable, when you change the chain set make sure to clean the front sprocket area thoroughly with petrol or kerosene and afterward you can fix front sprocket, take care of the new chain properly ,and it may serve you more than your current chain set.Originally posted by raj0690 View PostThanks bro... guess i will get it replaced during my next servicing that is coming up soon.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Is changing the small sprocket necessary? frankly the rear sprocket is also in good shape. But I have heard that the chain and sprocket has to be purchased as a set. Does the set also include the front sprocket?Originally posted by accuengineer View PostWoW 30K. The chain and the sprocket set has done an excellent job. If the area around it is cleaned thoroughly, even then does the front sprocket need replacement?
On a different note-
Any options that I have for a different sprocket? Effect of acceleration, power and top speed?
My understanding is that higher number of teeth will better the torque and acceleration but will result in a lower top speed.sigpic

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
It is highly advisable that you replace the sprockets. Nevertheless, it did its part. And yea, everything's a set.Originally posted by raj0690 View PostIs changing the small sprocket necessary? frankly the rear sprocket is also in good shape. Though your understanding is correct, it would be wise to keep things stock unless your preference is otherwise. While the initial acceleration may seem lucrative, it becomes equally frustrating to remain restricted on straight highways. FZ is already short on juice.BENEATH THE REMAINS.........

Changing the size of the sprockets modifies the final drive ratio, a lower gear ratio will enhance your bike 's bottom end power, while higher gear ratios will give you more top end power, remember lower of shorter gears are numerically higher, and higher gears are numerically lower, you should change both of the front and rear sprockets with chain as a set, fixing new chain on worn or on older sprockets will eat up your new chain very quickly.

Agree with you on the "short on juice" part... and yes the complete set will be replaced soon.. BTW does Yamaha SVC have any sprocket options apart from the racing kit and the stock one?Originally posted by chaosaddict View PostIt is highly advisable that you replace the sprockets. This is new information to me. Thanks
so it is the complete set with thorough cleaning. I will get that done. Do i need to specifically request the Yamaha SVC guys to clean the front sprocket area? or they do it as a routing for the chain sprocket changing? Also any info on sprocket options is welcome.sigpic

No other options except Daytona kit and stock one. Daytona is whoppingly costly.Originally posted by raj0690 View PostAgree with you on the "short on juice" part... and yes the complete set will be replaced soon.. SVC guys generally clean the sprocket area and other things before fitting the new chain sprocket kit. Just to be sure, tell them to clean the dirt before putting the new chain and sptocket.

These Daytona kits are hugely expensive and are more for track oriented performance, i don't think it's advisable to get these kits, a normal road user won't achieve that much from these performance parts. Actually they should install newer part after cleaning the area, but most of the times i have seen they don't care, there main job is to just replace the part and take money from you. So pls be very alert and don't hesitate in raising your voice if he dosen't listen to you.Last edited by kusmaker; 05-28-2014, 01:05 PM.

I think most of your queries are answered. I have a doubt by any chance did you change only the chain (or) sprockets before?Originally posted by raj0690 View PostIs changing the small sprocket necessary? frankly the rear sprocket is also in good shape.
