Guys, I have been facing an issue since last few days which seem to be solved now by changing spark plug. But i want to know what is the reason behind it. This happened to me twice so far in last 1 year.
Bike is almost 4 year old 17100km done.
Problem : when engine is warm/hot. Bike's engine behaves like hitting reserve tank (ie: minor jerks, engine looses power) shuts down at idle, idle rpm fluctuates, throttle response from idle to 3000 becomes very poor, I have to keep it above 3000 to avoid those jerks and the possibility of stalling. Strangely, if i park the bike for like 10-15 mins, this issue sometimes vanishes even after engine is heated again. But it usually returns back.
When did i faced this issue:
1. at 12,000km odo last year: Solved it by changing spark plug and air filter (spark plug was 12000km old by then)
2. Now, at 17,100km : Spark plug is 5000 km old, changed it and problem seems to be solved right now. Filter was changed 1000km ago.
Possible reasons of this problem?
1. Carb : Never cleaned or opened since i bought the bike. But if carb was causing this problem, how did replacing filter and spark plug solved it last time?
2. Spark plug: Bike is probably missing spark due to some problem. 2nd plug developed this problem in 5000km only which is weird. sparkplug head/tip seems fine without any excess carbon/oil deposit But There are some greenish copper oxide like deposits and minor iron rust on the tail of the spark plug, is that the reason of this problem? can this rust stop the plug from getting enough current to create a good spark?
I am attaching the photos of my spark plugs, left one is 5000km old right one is 12000km old, both developed this problem.
What exactly is the culprit?
Other two photos shows minor oil leak on cyl head and the pipe that connects carb to cylinder has developed yellowish colour near the cylinder part, is that normal?
