  • ^^ not necessarily. liquid gasket can be used for an oil filter replacement as well. i remember it being used on the T-bird during oil filter replacement. It provides a better seal for parts which do not have a uniform mating area ( like an oval, or rectangle ), but instead a complex design of the mating surface where a rubber gasket wont suffice, or the temperatures wont let the rubber gasket work properly.

My understanding is that surfaces that do not mate properly ,like the example you have indicated do require a better sealant than the simple Gasket.Where the geometry of the surface is guaranteed and is even, liquid gasket need not be used and rubber ,soft phenolic, or soft metal gasket will do the job.
CBR 250 has a perfect round door for the oil filter....more like in Apache ,RTR.

      • ^^ yes it does. but the high pressure requirement does require a sealant. Best option to answer this would be to look at the service manual of the CBR.

          +1.

My K&N Stock Replacement Filter for the Ninja 250R came with a sealant tube in the box.

I Had an oil leak issue from the oil filter area after oil filter change. Mechs solved this issue by using 3M bond. No issue after that.

Nothing was mentioned about a sealant in the manual. All it was mentioned was to change the gasket everytime you change the filter. I assume that the gasket has some amount of sealant to it which on removal looses its characters and fails to do it job.

            • ^^ that means it has a rubber seal. If the seal is not seated properly, then you will have oil leaking from there. First check that the seal is seated properly. the liquid gasket should come later.

              • oil replacement @ ~350km.

Replaced with semi synth oil, the gears and overall feel of engine is smoother now.

It's not a rubber seal for sure, None of the CBRs have rubber seals. It has a metal gasket. In my case it was damaged due to improper fitment after replacing oil filter.

Saree guard and mirrors comes seperately along with the bike, dealer is not supposed to charge you. You can either fix it on the bike or collect it from the dealer. I told my dealer not to fix the saree guard and collected it from them.

                          Hi,

I am expecting my bike to be delivered this week (fingers crossed). Just wanted to check if any one of you have tried the Motoman method to break in the bike. If yes, please share your experience.

This is my first post in this thread and if this has already been discussed, kindly share the link with me.

                          Thanks.

Beware, beware...the dealer is taking you for a ride 101% sure on C250R. Saree guard & RVM's are standard equipment along with the bike.

Send an email to Customer Service immediately asking them a clarification & tell them the dealer says so & so. The dealer WILL get a copy of your email & will be sorry for what he said.
