Apart from sportbikes which is niche segment.

Remember, Honda is more focused on selling mass market scooters and commuters in India, that's their bread and butter out of which they make a very healthy profit. Secondly, this can have a ripple effect on the owners hunting for spares, though we already have insufficient stock availability at most service centers. Though it's a law that parts should be available for 5 years after a particular model's production is ceased, only time will tell.

Well, there is a twist in the tale, or is it

Oh no! Not again! This is my third bike which is going to stop production after I buy it. First two were Kawasaki wind 125 and Honda Dazzler, both were new. Finally CBR too? [emoji24]

Absolutely right. We certainly cannot predict Honda's next move. They have CIA like confidentiality when it comes to product releases and updates.

Regarding the discontinuation, I think it would probably make sense to completely discontinue it considering its current market image. But with KTM and Yamaha getting in the quarter litre segment it really seems odd that Honda wouldn't pit something against them.

With the 2017 CBR1000RR releasing today and
The Africa Twin confirmed for launch in June-July, and considering the popular demand for adventure tourers, I am hoping for the crf250L rally and 500cc category bikes to make way to India. Benelli also has its trk502 and Tornado302 and BMW has g310r and g310gs in the queue for that matter. There was also a news some days ago that HMSI is working on a RE rival. Hope they dont spend too much time "researching" and bring the already available portfolio to India. [emoji1] [emoji1]

Oil filter doesn't matter much, we can use the Fz one, what matters is the shims. Without precise measurements we cannot stock them.
Stator coil, meter console, CCT, front fork oil seals, rear shock absorber and clutch plates can be stocked. That comes to ₹20k.

Guys I know a lot of problems are there with spares availability but I wanted to share some experiences regarding the same.

I had to replace my coolant reserve tank and an SVC here was doing the same thing they do with the rest of us. They tell that they have put in an order for the spares and it could take upto a month to arrive. They had the same response after a month so I had to mail Honda regarding spare availability and SVC responses. The problem got solved within three days of the mail. The spare : made available by the SVC by contacting another one in the city. Meanwhile I inquired about the same part at an SVC at my native place. They promised to put an order and called at Day 13 that the spare was available.

The problem, I think is the spare and parts inventory is not centralized for all SVC so the customer has to inquire at other SVCs for the parts availability and sometimes the SVC itself is at fault as in my case. I know the experience may differ from person to person but whatever may be the case I do request all of you to make a formal complaint to Honda "[email protected]" if the SVC is stalling you for spare and parts.

In case of discontinuation as leech bhai said "god help us"

Well said. In my opinion,we should make a rapport with the service manager and have his contact number so that we can counteract him any time. If spare is not available in his SVC he can contact other SVC and help us to procure the same.

Never faced a issue with spares in Chennai, even if there is a shortage,it arrives by a week. Something tells me Honda are just going to come out with a new paint scheme , saying it's bs4 ? I won't be surprised , such is the attitude towards quarter litre bike segment in India, but I will be surprised if they release a new model, also im kinda involved in the track scene and Honda will have pressure to put out the 300r as they don't have any bike between 300 and 400cc and the new category has KTM, Yamaha,TVS, Kawasaki even benelli can enter.

You are absolutely right on the quarter litre segment. If they keep selling old goods under new packaging, somehow I can strongly relate them to Sugarcane juice vendors who twist and toss the same stick again and again till the last drop of juice is out.

Tried that brother. Just to avoid the awkwardness of complaints. Building a rapport does not work in most cases unless the manager is really concerned about your bike. So if they don't care enough about your bike and safety, it's just not worth the effort.

Besides the problem goes on record with Honda and could ultimately result in having an overall better service throughout India by this brand we all love.

Just for information: India Spares, Buy Online, Cash On Delivery this website has some accurate pricing and great visual representation on the spare parts in my experience. But you have to visually identify the parts and read the description carefully as their search algorithm is extremely bad.
