I find that the break pedal is too close to the body, is it a problem with my bike or am i doing something wrong?

I have to place my foot at acute angle to the foot peg, its not comfortable

PS: Usually dealers give false promises on delivery dates, this time it was the other way. promised 3 dealers in two days that I would take the bike :P
I agree with your observation with regards to the bike parts quality, they certainly could have been better. But for the price, I think(my opinion) its a fair deal. Apache foot pegs are better and a very good option if you want to change them.
Regarding the break pedal being too close to the body, its the same in all CBRs, observered in all the bikes I test rode and in my bike. You ll get used to it in a few days time. Enjoy the added power responsibly as it gets bhery bhery tempting

Put a new thread in What Bike section with all requirements/thoughts as u did here and I believe you get some honest opinion from others members.
      +1 to that.

I feel the other way round.. RTR is easy to flick in city traffic.. Both 160 and 180..

One of my friend have A180 and the front foot pegs is similar to CBR's.. and i think someone here have already replaced his foot pegs with RTR 180's...

To all those discussing here over the FE and Range that we are getting with full tank.. let me tell my story..

      Had a 390km ride yesterday.. 90% NH-2 (part of GQ), 5% SH 7/9 and 5% off road..
For your info, As of 31 October 2010, 5,806 km (3,608 mi) of the entire work has been completed and work on remaining 40 km is under progress. (Source Wikipedia).. And we were fortunate enough to travel 5km of that 40km bad stretch with infinite number of trucks strangling each other..

I filled up my tank the day before the ride with 10.17L (rode max 10km after the fuel gauge started blinking) and filled it again on the return journey with 9.75L after 299.9km. The fuel gauge was showing 1 bar (not blinking) at that time..
      My ride consisted of:
      1. Cruising between 105-120km/h for most of the time..
      2. Doing 150km/h twice for some time and couldn't get to go above that due to crosswinds..
      3. 15-20 km was riding in 1st gear and to the max 2nd gear, including a few kms off road to the river side..
      4. Doing between 130-140km/h couple of times with pillion.. this is the time when I showed what a Honda in two wheels can do, to a Honda in four wheels (Jazz)..

After this ride I am sure that whatever be the road condition and for my riding style i can go 300km until the next refill..

P.S: I remember reading in user manual or somewhere else that the Fuel bar starts blinking when there is 3.5L of fuel left in the tank..
Everybody dies.. But, not everybody really live!!

      • Hi All,

This is my first post in the ownership forum .
I like to go for long drives and based on the reveiws here I decided to go for the CBR. Prior to the CBR, i used to own the Karizma, since it was very good touring machine.
I got my CBR (non ABS) on June22 and have completed 4000kms so far.
So far, I have been using the bike for daily commuting to the office and for the weekend long drives. The bike really handles well in the traffic and on the highways. But in jams the engine heats up really quick, so have to switch it off.
I have taken my CBR for 5 long drives so far , max being 700kms in all.
The bike is really comfortable and the engine kept pulling through out.
The bike has been giving good mileage on the highway, the best figures being around 28kmpl, almost as much as my karizma.
Before every tour, I make sure to take the bike to the mechanic and do the general check up. Also I have bought the Motul Chain Cleaner and Motul Chain Lube ( suggested by the Honda Service Centre) which i judiciously apply after every 1000kms.

Also I got to take the bike offroading and this has been the best experience to feel the low end torque of the engine. The bike handled really well through the mud track, mounting the small mud hills was really great, but the onyl issue was the weight, since the bike slides and one needs to maintain the balance.

        Pros:
The enigne is really torquey and has great pulling power.
The only issues so far have been:
The quality of make - some nuts & screws are already rusting.
Spares avalibility - service center does not have the screws yet!!

        Overall its a gr8 bike.
Will post some pics of the bike soon,
        Safety First ( protective gear)

Cramster Colt does the trick. You need to put a bungee chord around the bike to prevent the bags from touching the rear wheel.

My riding pattern is similar to yours. I ride in city traffic(Bangalore), 17 kms (one way) everyday. I haven't had any issues with engine heating up. Could you check if the radiator fins are bent?

I'm willing to pay more, Improving their quality wouldn't raise the bike cost by much, may be a max of 3k.

I called the showroom mechanic today, he told me that we can pull it little outside, anyway im ok with it now.

With CBR's power i can quickly cover the distance when ever the road is clear, with its breaking power I can stop very near to the vehicle in front of me.

CBR balance is too good, I can pass through the gaps very easily.

                • Riding position!

I've been enjoying my daily commute on my baby ceeber a lot, been close to 700 odd kms now, can't wait to cross the 1k mark. However, offlate I've been experiencing discomfort and back pain after riding it for about 20-30 mins. I've never had any back-ache complaints earlier, previous bike being a P150, if that makes any difference, but I'd like to know from my fellow bikers and CBR owners here if they had such issues in the beginning. Could somebody point me to the correct posture and angle at which I can ride to minimise the strain on my back. Unlikely, but still I'm kind of worried it might cause some permanent damage.

I thoroughly enjoyed riding in traffic today. I am not kidding!
It was for the first time I took out my CBR in traffic and boy the handling impressed me! (Yes after 2k kms, this really was the first time I took it out in traffic that only my Pulsar has seen so far)
It was also the first time out after I got the handle bars fixed (the mech loosened it a bit) and it was so much easier to flick the bike in traffic. So much easier that I felt like a pro doing it even though I never flicked my pulsar so much. Honestly, speaking, all the money I spent was justified today in the traffic because -

I didn't feel tired when I came home.
my hands, shoulders, back weren't hurting
My pillion was as relaxed as she was when she got on the bike!

                        • Crossed 8000kms this weekend. Still running rock solid!
Though I find few minor issues for which i need to visit SVC soon.
                          1) Engine sounds bit different (guess the shims needs some attention)
                          2) Chain has got bit loose
                          3) Still using the damaged left foot peg
                          4) Some rattling noise from the front.
                          5) Rear brake pad needs a change.

                          Few good things experienced
                          1) Amazing stability, it just forgives even if you make some mistake.
                          2) Good brakes
                          3) Suspension though said to be soft, it is the best setup for IRC.
                          4) Torquey motor, pulls you anytime.
                          5) Perfect combination for my use.

                            • Engine Timing Screw Stolen in Chennai!!

I had been to Chennai last thursday on work. The plan was to go there on Thursday, finish up the job on Friday morning, leave by 11am and get back to Bangalore by nightfall.
Things went like clockwork till the job was done on friday morning and I got off a little early too. I went back to the hotel to check out and start riding as soon as possible when the I found the bike missing the engine timing screw.
I blasted the hotel security who was stationed barely 20mts from the parking space (direct view-- no obstacles). He claimed that it must have fallen off during my ride. In order show him that it wasnt a possibility, I switched the engine on for a second. Oil spurted for about 3ft through the hole.
Next, I thought about ways to get out of this pickle.
The size looked to be the same as a Dazzlers. Luckily, there was a Dazzler in the same parking lot which belonged to a hotel staff. He was gracious enough to let me try fitting the screw from his bike on mine.Unfortunately, it was not matching.

Remembering the good reviews about Didar Honda in this forum, I called them and informed them about my situation. Also sent them the photo(attached) by mail. Turned out that they were the located very close to where I was staying.

The lead time to get the spare was 2 - 3 weeks.
I wasnt sure if anything else was stolen. I should also mention that besides this there wasnt a single scratch/damage to any other part. That left me a little perplexed.

After about an hour Didar Honda called me back to tell me that they have found a replacement screw. Surprised, I asked them for the source. Apparently, the owner of the Service Centre also owns a CBR and he had asked them to replace the screw with the one from his bike. He would place an order for a spare one for himself. I was blown away by this. Moreover, I was charged just Rs40 for it.

In a matter of minutes, my CBR went from being stuck in Chennai for 3 weeks to being ready to roll out of Chennai immedietly. I got the Engine oil changed as a precaution (it was due for a change anyway) and was soon on my way.

Changed my plan a bit and stayed in Chennai for the night because I didnt want to ride out in a bad mood. Left Chennai on Saturday morning and met up with a Biker group from Bangalore at Yelagiri Hills on the way.I rode back with them later that day.

                              Why did this happen?
The mechanics at Didar opined that this had to be the handiwork of another CBR owner who needed the screw for his bike. The fact that the bike hadnt been otherwise damaged supported this theory.
