i guess the main question thus is that is the CBR so supereor compared to R15 that as you mentioned pads, chain and all that stuff wears out faster( as according to others in this thread it was due to inferior quality of parts )
To be Honest 1st make your mind , Fix your budget and then try to read something about R15 and CBR ...Both bike comes under Different Categories ,

CBR has a lot relax upright siting position , Has softer suspension , High Torque which makes it suitable for Long Rides but because of longer wheelbase than R15 and softer Suspension set up bike dosent inspire any Confidence on Tight corners . This bike is more of a touring machine than Track tool

R15 has lot of Sporty siting position, it a Light Wight compare to CBR250 , has shorter wheelbase, its nimble bike and it has 150cc High Rev Engine but on a down side Bike has low torque compare to CBR which means u've to work hard to keep bike in its Power-band and so it is not so comfy on Long Rides . This bike is best for City rides, Great on Track and if u are cornering junkie u'll njouy a lot and yea Better FE than CBR

any ways i didnt mean to offend any of R15 and CBR owners please Think before you buy , Never go just by looks first Ride both bike and then decide which one suits your style . CBR > as a superb highway Tool or R15 V.2 for peppy ride and Cornering fun . and yeah Sorry for my poor english
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

So, you've question on oil or is that also resolved

I don't know what to say, upto you; if I were in your place, I'd find the reason as why this happened. Cam tensioner is subject to worn away only due to weak shims & not replacing them on due course of time. I've clocked 17200 till date (purchased Jun end) & my SHIMs are to be replaced only by now.

Anyway, you got it from Dhruvesh like I told you before. Enjoy.

Don't think its because of the motorcycle; try riding a light weight motorcycle on the same road & you'll experience the same. Point is there's no wobbling thing associated with vehicle's engineering.

Well, the owner's manual also provides option to use 20W40; what happens when 20W40 is used, I'll leave that for the rest of the members to comment.

      Perfectly put

Lol!!! There used to be a lot of things initially & that's why we're advocating to stick to what ASC says these days. Even if you use Motul, Petronas or Shell with the recommended grade, do not expect a 2 bhp increase in performance or 5 Kmph increase in top speed or ultra smooth engine or butter smooth gear shifts. You can only notice a bump in any or all of these very negligibly. I've used HMSI 10W-30 for over 5000+ kms without requiring any change, it just works fine. The suggestion is based to say better safe than sorry as the wounds are healed, but the scar still remains

My question about using motul 15 w 50 FS is not yet resolved because there have been no inputs.I guess people have not yet tried it.

I too have same query. Any major changes in Quality? Also, I think I can get the bike Joeled for some more power and to make changes in the handling department.

          • Update:

Completed 1600 kms on Trinity. First trip to the hills done, that too with fully loaded saddle bags, a fully kitted up pillion rider and a 60 litre rucksack with tents and sleeping mats. I just loved the handling on tarmac, I mean with all the weight I was carrying, I was still able to go around corners at 95+ kmph with relative ease and a couple of them I took at 105+ kmph. The Contigos hold well in dry.

The trip involved some off roading, while going down steep and tight trails, the turning radius is a turn off, the suspension is amazing though! I felt some stress on the wrists while riding downhill in trails. Uphill, its a breeze, she pulls effortlessly.

            Cheers,

            • My new front brake pads have gone already! I dunno how! But kaput in less than 2500 kms! Very disappointed and not interested to get an Honda pad again! Any suggestions ? After market ones etc ?

P.S: The rear ones are still good. The stock ones (8300 Kms) and still got some 30 % life!

Did you check the pad wear yourself? Do not trust what service center guys tell you.

                  • I did myself, A strange noise will appear when the pads worn out! And also we can easily check wear by looking the distance between the pad and the disc.

                        • Anyone here yet facing an issue with the steering? Mine feels weird as in the right side is a bit inside and the left side is a bit outside... in fact one can clearly see the misalignment when looking at the forks....so are the forks the culprit??

Can't blame it on Honda or any company for that reason, also depends on riding styles too. More aggressive braking style = More wear & tear, Sane & effective braking = Less wear & tear.
