hi all,
I am facing a very small problem, donno what actually it is.
there is some "ting ting" sound if i accelerate hard in the range of 4000- 6000 rpm, and it goes off quickly.
i will explain a bit more, usually i drive at 80kmph, 6th gear at 5k rpm and no sound comes...but if i try accelerating in 5th or 6th gear from say around 4500 then this "ting ting" sound comes and will go off once i cross 6000rpms.
This was there just before first service and it went off after 1st service , now my bike has done 1800kms and the sound is back again.
is it due to tappet clearance? i donno the how the tappet sound is and hence i am not able to find out the reason.
thanks.

update on my incident.
Approached the ASC to enquire about the situation and told them HMSI has approved replacing blocks for people with the same problem as mine. To my surprise the SVC manager has already taken pics of my engine when i went in for a chain slack adjustment last week and HMSI has told them they would report back on Tuesday ie tomorrow. So im gonna wait and see how this turns out. Meanwhile, HMSI still hasnt contacted me even after acknowledging that they recieved my mail i sent through their website.
What in the blue world? 3500 for painting just those 4 silver panels black?Originally posted by Jay Tanwar View PostI got my blade from Didar Honda at thousand lights, Chennai. They took care of painting upper body silver parts to black. total cost of painting- Rs. 3500
Isnt that a bit on the expensive side?

OK..
Steps for the problem mentioned by @yashwanthms and also faced by me:
1. Ride to 2nd gear.
2. RPM meter reading 3-4 rpm.
3. (Lets say there is a speed breaker ahead or an auto comes in the way suddenly). Leave the throttle down completely.
Try pulling in the Clutch completely when you let go off the throttle and shift down simultaneously to lower gear(1st) and slowly release clutch halfway till you feel its engaged. Once you pass the speedbreaker shift up(2nd) and accelerate gradually. If you cut off throttle at such low rpms it will fall back to 2k rpm in a second and there isnt much torque in that rpm to pull your bike through.
4. Now I hear something like "dhuk" sound. Its not rattling/buzzing sound.
- If the throttle is left slowly, no sound is heard.
Yes and you will notice your rpm needle is falling back slowly compared to when you completely let go off the throttle. This is why you dont hear the knock. - If clutch is pressed, no sound is heard.
Yes because power from the engine has been cutoff so your bike isnt depending on engine power to move forward. - Not sure if it is knocking. (But I don't think its knocking)
It has to be knocking - If the above procedure is done above 5 rpm, very very mild sound heard. But is it justified to take new bike at 5-6 rpm @gear 2 and 3??
It is even justifiable to take a brand new bike all the way to 8k rpm or even more. There is no limit here. Only it is meant to be reached gradually and not by sudden twist of throttle.
Query:
While riding in bad traffic/rush hours, rpm cannot be taken above 4-5, also riding at gear 1 doesn't seem a good option. So what to do..!!?
It is a CBR. Not a Splendor. 4-5k rpm is far away from the "Redline" on your tacho and it is so for a reason! Do not be afraid to revv higher but do it gradually in any gear. No sudden acceleration/Deceleration
Few Queries:
2. When I have to go for ride, I switch on the bike, and wait till temperature shows 3 bars. Should this procedure be followed or not required?
NO!. Just wait for One bar and ride slow till it warms upto 3. Do not idle the bike for more than 2 minutes nomatter what the situation!
3. During Run-in period, changing gears at 4-5 rpm (for 1,2,3 gears) and 5-6 rpm (for 5-6 gears). (Although read in aargee's posts, but still confirming.).
Read again. AARGEE never mentioned to keep the bike in any specific RPM during Run-IN. Neither is it mentioned to keep the RPMs Low in the Manual. Do you not have ur manual?
Accessory Required:
1. Guys please suggest me where can I get Yoshimura Honda CBR250R Chassis Protector Kit in India(preferable near chennai/banglore). I tend to drop bike at 1-10kmph speed. My Karizma suffered a lot 'coz of that. Don't want to repeat that for baby blade. Really need it.
You really want to spend so much for a fairing that costs 1/3rd the price of your "Protector"? lolLast edited by Nithesh; 07-30-2012, 08:06 PM.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Your bike has a fan for a reason. As long as the temp gauge on ur console does not show more than 3 bars you are safe and it is normal. Nothing to worry here.Originally posted by hemanthKakumanu View PostPosted this message in the thread but no body responded. Please can anyone help me with your inputs.

Fan starts on to cool the coolant which further cools the engine when it is heated ..Originally posted by hemanthKakumanu View PostPosted this message in the thread but no body responded. Please can anyone help me with your inputs.

The fan being On & Off isnt much an issue. It should be that way or why will it be needed. But always see that the temperature bars dont go above 3, and if you feel the engine heating quickly or fan running too often, always keep a check on coolant level and also if the radiator is not covered with mud. To avoid that, you may extend the front fender by 2-3 inches using various methods. (you can search for those)Originally posted by hemanthKakumanu View PostThank you sooooooo much for the response... It might disappear by itself once you clock a few kms more. I dont hear it anymore these days or maybe ive ignored it to a point back then so much so that even if it exists my ear just wont pay attention to it. Not sure but the ASC can only reattach the body panels for you but it may/may not work for long.Originally posted by BAMBI143 View Post"prrrr prrr" / krrrrrr" is still there in my bike at arround 5k rpm vanishes after 6k rpm.bike is 30 days 1700kms old.1st service done told svc about the problem but no luck.

Help needed from Delhi's CBR owners
Hi pals,
Need some information on the Delhi Honda showrooms. Please take pain to answer the below questions :
1. Which showroom can deliver the Black CBR Std in least time??? I was told a waiting of 15 days after booking.
2. What to look for while opting for zero-dep insurance. Whats the difference between zero-dep & normal insurance? What should be the extra charge.
3. I was quoted 1.67 lacs for std version. What should be a good price to pay with extended warranty and zero-dep insurance. I mean how much discount should I bargain for???
Finally, after a long wait since its launch, I will get the dream machine. Pretty excited.
Help me guys. Probably I will book the bike in 2 days.
Thanks in advance.
