So in some time the showrooms will be able to arrange for MRF tyres as replacements for the old Contigos, which is good news I hope.

P.S. I'm in a self-imposed waiting period (booked 2013 White-ABS), waiting for MRFs tyres to reach my showroom, so that I can swap them before taking delivery of the bike.
Wow, Then we need to wait for the review from you once u get ur bike with MRF tires...

Visted ASC today for second service. Clutch lever is Rs 71.62 inclusive of all taxes. Last time I had wrong figure. Just wanted to correct this mistake. Most of CBR spares are fairly priced .

Its due to the brake switch. The brake switch in the front brake lever, which activates the brake lights on application of brakes makes click sound on activation & deactivation (the brake lights gets on only after the click sound). The front brake switch for disc braked are are a bit different from rear ones (even with rear disc) so you don't observe the sound on rear ones.

              1. Wear thicker innerwear or buy the riding shorts (inner) which is available on some international stores. They add an additional layer of safety too
              2. Get used to riding harder and longer distances. By doing this, you will stop focusing on the discomfort and soon get used to it.

Personally, i have found the CBR to be much more comfortable than my pulsar 220. While on the 220, anything over 15 hours led to sore bums, in the CBR I have done 18+ hours twice without any issues.
Good ones Mik! will try it... I was riding one-handed on straight smooth roads so I need to do something to the handlebars

                Hi ,

My name is Harish and from Bangalore. I own CBR 250 from past one month. Completed 1st dervice in 2 weeks...
Just from one week I can hear some noise coming from near to radiator.
This noise so clear when I leave acceleration... Did anyone face this problem? If so what can be the problem...

What kind of noise? If it is whirring noise then it is the radiator fan in action.

Are u sure that nothing is stuck near to radiator fan !! or if there is any loose part it might give you sound when accelerating

basically, i need to make touring more comfortable. I recently did a 1250km/3days ride and wasnt impressed
                      with the ergos (wrt ZMA-R).

                      handlebar modifications
                      - bar risers?
I got two solid mild steel cylinders with threads to fit into the fork tubes, chrome plated them, fitted them and mounted the clip-ons onto them. A little dicey, I admit, as the threads were right handed for both sides instead of being right for left and vice versa. Also, a slim, solid MS bar was inserted at the corners of the wind screen to splay it out and prevent snagging with the front brake oil reservoir on the right side. The gig worked for almost two years. I had befriended my local ASC manger so he did not create a ruckus over the warranty issue.

A month ago, some @#$%^&* moron shifted my bike whilst it was parked and seemed to have tested his strength on the bar cause the right-handed cylinder was loosened. So I just gave up on the mod and returned the clip-ons to their original position. The difference in comfort is much lesser than I had anticipated.

                      - swapping with a ZMR?
                      - single piece ZMA-R handlebar, will also need triple clamp

You will need to do major work on the bike for this (voiding your warranty completely). The limiting factor is the amount of slack in all the cables - just about an inch or so. I have not not gone so far and hence cannot comment. If you can source compatible cables and the work is done by a skilled person, it will make a radical difference in the stance from semi-racing to sit up and beg - very good!

seat mods (both front and pillion)
                      - insert gel pads beneath the existing seat cover
                      - swap out existing foam with better and denser foam
                      - completely new seat uppers including foam (based on existing seat base)

All the above are possible. You would need to just get a larger area seat cover material to accommodate the gel pad/foam.

Final one: buy a ZMA-R or new Hero250!

During my Leh trip last year, one of my team members had a ZMA. I rode it for some time and found it to be THE ideal long distance tourer. In fact, putting the CBR's engine into the ZMA would be terrific.Very smooth, very comfy with excellent front feel and well damped rear. If you intend to do consistent long distance tours, the ZMA is the bike. The FI model would be fuel efficient too.

I have read somewhere that beacuse the Hero Impulse was originally a Honda CRF 250, the CBR's engine is a direct fit into its engine bay. The mounting points on the frame are an exact match for those on the engine. If you can get such a combo, you will have a true-blue, quarter litre dual purpose bike. Power and torque for the highway plus ground clearance for the "road" less travelled

                      All ideas welcome.

There is very little that can be done to improve the touring comfort of the bike. I devoted considerable time mulling over this issue in 2011 when I got my bike. My comments are in blue colour after your queries. I too used to be extremely uncomfortable after my Pulsar 150 and for you, with the superb comfort of the ZMA, the CBR would have been hell. But over time, you will get accustomed to the posture.

I checked it and there is nothing . Because when the engine heats the fan is working fine and at that time there is no other sound.
So today at last I took to service center and they took a test ride. Later asked me to drop the bike for a day. they want to remove the engine for further analysis...

Finally sold off my CBR 250R
It was a love-hate relationship with the bike and i never felt that i was connected to the bike (many owners i know have a similar thought)
Ofcourse, when I had a good buyer for the bike and signed on the dotted line, I felt empty inside. Gave the bike a nice chain lubrication and waxing. Hope the new owner keeps it shining and well maintained.
A note about the price - got 1.08 lakhs for the bike in Gurgaon which is pretty decent for a 15 month old bike in Gurgaon. Initially, everyone said 95k max but if you hold on and be patient, you will get people who are willing to pay up for a decent bike. The buyer did say that someone was selling his ABS version CBR for a lakh !! But that was badly maintained. Mine had better pickup - the buyer mentioned. Music to the ears

                          EDIT:

Finished off with a breakfast ride to Murthal. Is it weird to kiss the bike bye bye :P

Maneesh Ji...what kind of seat mod will actually make the pillion seat a bit more friendly for long rides? I have the following thoughts in my mind:

                              1. Wider pillion seat: tried it, didn't really help, my pillion ended up with pain in thighs.
                              2. Backrest from Avenger/TB500 - Never tried, but have been mulling over it. Not sure how much it will help, but the final result will surely look cheesy.
                              3. Other ideas???
