Horrible Yamaha sales Experience follows. (Panache Enterprises, Bangalore)
My roommate took the R15 v2 yesterday and I was to ride it home. When I started I immediately noticed the engine temp. warning light was always ON and the Engine malfunction light never comes on(In the self check). Rode straight to service center, service people had no clue of this. They changed the meter, ecu etc and no use. They connected it to FI station, again no use.
After 5 hours of waiting, left the bike there. Didnt even rode 2kms on a brand new bike whose ODO was a mere 8 kms. Went there today and the problem was diagnosed to be a faulty ECU. Yes, ON A BRAND NEW BIKE. They tried with an old model ECU and thats why it didnt solve the issue yesterday.
The svc people then brought 2 new R15's from go-down and guess what, one had the straight reversal symptom of my bike. Its malfucntion light was always ON. Again the svc people had no clue about it. Then the other new R15 had no issues and they put that bikes ECU to mine and everything was back to normal. Now riding all fine and good. Terrible things to be happening on a new bike. This Wasn't the case when I bought my R15 4 years ago.
Now coming to PDI, Mirrors was wrongly put, in such a stupid way that one fall off
Then there were plenty of missing screws as well. As I am a little bit experienced riding the R15 , I could notice all the issues. The guys would sell those faulty ECUed R15's to someone now. God hep them
Attaching some pics, some from svc, missing screws etc.

Also one thing to say was the service manager was very helpful and did his best.

    Some things I noticed.
Yamahas paint quality is going all the way down the drain. Lower fairing paints looks like someone spray painted with hand.
ECU fault on 2 new bikes is something which I never expected from Yamaha.
New R15 comes with a new silent fuel injector, also tank has two new iron bars which wont allow fuel nozzle to go inside the tank.
The mechs were revving the crap out of new R15's and R3's. When I asked why they do such stupid things, their response was it would damage the engine if you are in gear, and its completely OK if you rev to rev limiter in neutral, Good logic there

This is the third Yamaha service centre in Bangalore I am visiting in the past 2 years and could always see these happening. They just dont care for your bike.

KTM's service are a million miles ahead of Yamaha, atleast the guys know what they are doing.

I bought a second R15 too. When delivering the bike i saw the mechanics had removed the seat and were fooling around with something for what seemed like a good 15-20 min. I was busy with the paper work so i didn't ask them what they were up to. After riding for an hour i got it refilled at the petrol station and then when i tried to start the bike it wouldn't turn over. Tried push starting but nothing worked. So had to drag it for 2km, all the time frantically trying to push start it. Then all of a sudden the engine fired up and wasting no time i headed straight to the Dealer. Turned out that some relay was faulty and they replaced it from another bike. Bastards! They must have switched the relay with a faulty piece when they were setting up the bike. Next day without warning the side-stand spring came off while i was riding. As luck would have it i wasn't wearing a shoe with laces so had nothing to tie it up with. Got a spring fixed from a roadside mechanic. The next day the mirrors got loose. A month later i had a weird feeling with the front brake. Got down and found to my horror that one of the bolts that secures the front brake caliper to the fork had disappeared. The way i brake and ride the bike, failure of front brake could have been fatal. As if that wasn't bad enough the mechanics had the temerity to ask me for bakshish everytime i had to go back to the store (m****ers!). I regret buying the bike from Setco in Patparganj Delhi, those guy's were up to no good (the shop has closed since). J.M.Motor in Noida from where i bought my first R15 by comparison is a reputed store and they don't have to stoop so low as to switch the bikes relays with a faulty piece and things like that.
But anyway since then i have had no issues. 18k km and the bike is running great! This is still a fantastic bike and i think the build quality is still very good.

I am awestruck. Brand new ECU, going KAPUT on two bikes, what were the factory QC guys thinking, I guess the jury is still out there. Though ECU problems can be attributed to transit/handling and shock (at least we can guesstimate, but still not acceptable for two bikes in a row) Missing bolts and nuts, again, on a tried and tested bike like R15 is something totally not Yamaha's parlance.

Glad that you noticed the issue, and kept their feet warm.

        Cheers!

        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

this had happened to me too, on the 3rd day of my ownership (almost 2.5 yrs ago). there might be a post about this by me in the distant past of this thread...had somehow managed to go to the svc through dense city traffic using only the rear brake that too when i was not even used to the bike at all..

Is your bike new ? Also, after the 4 fast and 2 slow blinks, does the malfunction light stay on when you start the engine ?

Wow, didn't know about that. One would expect the bike to roll out of the factory with critical bolts torqued correctly.

Only blinks light once key is on... After ignition the bike not blinking

Its error code 42. Either its because no normal signal received from speed sensor, lean angle sensor issue, wiring harness issue(short-circuit) or ECU malfunction.
Get it checked by svc and if your bike is under warranty period, you can get it rectified for free. Never ride with engine malfunction light blinking

Hello friends, need your advice I am planning to buy a 2nd hand R15 v2.0 the bike is sept 2014 model invincible black .. Only 1500km run .. Owner has never revved it above 4k rpm and he recently changed to FS oil Motul he doesn't know the grade ..
This is costing me 80k . Few things I noticed was rust in chain .. Little rust in front disc rotor where the bolts are jointed near that area .. And little rust on the joint on chasis where new bikes has white sticker about chasis no. On the right side ..
                            My observation after riding
                            1. Engine was smooth .. No vibes
                            2. Tyres were holding very well and brakes doing there job perfectly ( rear brake making squeaking sound when applied)
                            3. There is a small scratch on the left side headlight . it was bend internally, asked mechanic he told that the stem and the headlight need to be replaced , he only saw pic of that though and said stem can also be straighten up by hammer action
                            .
                            4. The black plastic cap on the handle bar on the nut of front shocker was cracked .. Asked in service centre they said this doesnot comes as a part ..
Guys please suggest urgently whether these are some big reasons to worry about ?
Please suggest any extra checks I need to perform ?
Or lastly I should by a new one which will cost me approx 1.61lac including finance.
Reason : for not buying New is waiting for cbr150r updated model to launch in india will buy it . or if the same model will come into cbr 250r will buy it ..
One more thing I noticed was the Bike was starting in gear ,in side stand while clutch pressed .. - I am thinking while on side stand it only starts in neutral .[emoji15]
