In regards to what the problem might be, excessive engine lugging(riding st low rpms) may cause engine knocking, hence the vibrations. Now, it sounds like in your case, it might be pretty bad. Piston rings could be damaged, maybe the cylinder walls, possibly the crankshaft as well. Again, best thing to do, let the technician diagnose the problem.

The CBR has a very high revving engine, and isn't meant to be changed below 4000 rpm! It makes max power at 10,500 rpm so don't be scared to rev it in the future. Ideally, gears should be changed at around 5-6000 rpm under normal riding. 6th gear should be engaged above the speeds of 60kmph.

However I would advise you not to ride your bike too long and at high rpms at the moment as it might further damage your engine. You need to show it to the service center ASAP.

Changing the petrol will not make much of a difference.

Don't not despair though, the engine is very rugged and built with high durability in mind. Whatever the problem is, it can be fixed. It might cost more (possibly), but try not to take my post in a bad way.

Do go through these pages for more advice, running in advice has been given time and again.

Thx a lot for the help man. As you told me, i didn't ride my bike after reading your comment and took it to service center today morning. I got my bike back just now. They told me everything is fine now and told me there wasn't much problem. Now there are no vibrations like earlier. I think the vibration at high rpm now is normal vibration. I'm not sure tho as im new to riding bikes. I'll make sure that from today i shift gears at 5k+ rpm

Should i start using shell super from now? And also should i switch to a better engine oil from next time? I was thinking of putting motul. Do they void warranty for putting a different oil?

Yeah, there definitely is a fair bit of vibrations once you start nearing your redline. It's mostly noticeable past 9k rpm. But don't let it stop you, the feeling of ripping her all the way till 11k is amazing! And I've had many people come up and tell me that at high rpms, the little CBR sounds like an inline 4! Definitely agree! Haha!

I wouldn't suggest filling Shell super every time. That expensive for no particular benefit. A better practise would be to get a full tank of super once every 2-3 months. Mixing of fuels is not a problem. The main benefit of getting better fuel is for the additives that prevent deposits in the fuel system. So one tank every 2-3 months is sufficient.

As for oil, some service centers believe changing the oil will void your warranty, whereas others don't mind. In reality, changing your oil should not affect your warranty at all, but you can't go argue with people who don't want to understand. Check with your service center. If they don't agree, you can always get it changed at a reliable mechanics. A good oil for the CBR would be Motul 7100.

just curious. what did the engineers say was wrong with the bike? as in what did they do to get the bike right? just in case I myself am stuck with vibrations and such I would like to have a heads up....

They told me the bike was in good condition and there was nothing wrong with the bike. They told me they checked my bike completely and tightened all the screws and bolts. They didn't tell me what caused the vibrations. They just told me they fixed everything. After servicing, the bike didn't have vibrations like earlier. After the first service my bikes sound became shit. When you start the engine and keep it idle, there will be a sound something like a pen is being beaten on a plastic piece at a constant rate. There will be normal engine sound and at the background there will be that sound. Don't know if its normal. After second service it was still there but i didn't notice it as i became used to that after the first service. Now from yesterday that sound increased. I noticed an increase in that sound. The vibrations are gone but there is that sound.
And also i asked service center people to change oil in-front of me. So there did everything and waited for me to come and then changed the oil. Hope my bike is fine.
I'm a beginner so i tried to take care of my bike which ruined it lol.

Had a bad experience wit spg at ecr chennai today.. I was interested to buy spg helios riding jacket. So went to the outlet wit 3 of my frnds. And asked the sales person to show helios. He said there is no stock available. My main purpse of the visit is to wear and check how the fit is. But the people in showrom was not helpful at al. They were simply tryi to get rid of me off the shop.
I cudnt understand how come there is not even a single jacket for my size for havin a trial.
Aftr so much googling and zeroised my selection to spg helios. Jus bcos of this exp i need to go for some other brand. Riding jacket.

cbr 150r palmgreencandy colour at krishna automobiles Chandigarh. they promise me the delivery of the bike within a week.but half month go on no call came from them

till now.so i need to know from you guys that shall i have to take a extended warranty or not and approximately how much time will Honda take to deliver the bike. and plz give suggestions about the bike .

3) As the engine is so free and high revving, will it be as durable as the R15's engine (considering the amount of stress, the components are exposed to)? I know that it is a Honda, and that the engineers there, are no fools, but blown seals and broken connecting rods, are common to high revving engines. Anybody here, who has had to replace the engine head gaskets, or oil seals? Anybody here, who has covered more than 20k kms?

4) Are the spare parts of the CBR, much more expensive than the R15?

Has anybody here, switched from an R15, to the CBR?

Please help!

I am a cbr 150 owner and have it for the past 10 months, if you are looking at ease in traffic i dont think if these bikes can provide that maybe looking at a different segment may help that

. From what ive heard R15 v2 has a much lower RPM power band for the smaller gears 1 and 2 specially tuned for the indian traffic, but hearing about it from you i think it isnt that good :P
Coming to the CBR 150R, you wont be able to shift much to the 2nd gear in regular traffics specially the crawling and stop and go 1z considering you dont want to lug the engine! But i'll tell you the cooling system of the bike is really amazing, i have revved mine really hard on lower gears in traffic for really long durations and i have faced no issues except for a little heat on the legs, but thats the only issue you will face, the performance of the engine will be still great. And ya the most important thing : the correct engine oil for the conditions you ride in and a good pair of gloves, else your left hand is going to be numb! haha :P , with good pair of gloves(as in good padding) ive never had any posture problem.

that is true for the honda stock FS oil, i have experienced it myself. It is just not made for long distance touring, by mistake i got the Honda stock SS oil in the last service and i hate myself for that. it seems like the oil takes ages to smoothen and heat up, initial run is very bad.
What oil are you using btw...shell FS?

If anyone has used Shell FS 10w40, can you please tell me the pros and cons or maybe how it felt in the city run atleast.

I had bought mine in Oct 2013 and i had got it on the same day maybe because i didnt have to wait for any financial plan approvals but ya i took it the next day because the insurance wasnt done yet. The extended 3 year warrenty for the engine is not very expensive so i think taking that should be a sensible option specially when you are putting in so much cash on this bike and having the engine insured for 5 years feels safe

The bike is amazing in its own way, read the manual and follow the instructions until the first service. Of all, please dont upshift below 5k~6k rpm.

. when bike will come i will post some pics . cant wait for the bike . i have been waiting since 2 years for this bike.i kept reading this blog to get more information from users of the bike. in 2012 my bro own r15 v2.0 when this bike has come in the market . i was sure to get the rivalry bike cbr 150r. it was difficult to convince my parents for the bike because they think that cbr pillion seat is also same as r15 .but cbr is more comfortable as i took test drive of cbr. i am not criticizing r15 but pillion rider has difficulties to sit but the performance and racing dna of the bike is just perfect the looks is ultimate.i love both bikes cbr & r15 v2.0.so i am waiting for cbr hope they soon will delivered the bike

Hi all,

I have a query. What is the avg amount charged for paid service? I was charged an amount of Rs 2681/- for my last paid service. Apart from the normal,
1) air filter was changed to stock one (was using UNI power filter before. Stock air filter was given by me only.)
2) changed cone (charged rs 365/- )

For this they have shown a labour charge of Rs 1010. When i enquired they told they had to disassemble the entire front for replacing the air filter and also for cone change.. there was lot of work. blah blah.. I had asked for labour charge split up and after much hesitation they gave the amount break up. ( cone replacement = Rs 350, air filter 200 ,... : total =1010)

As per my understanding, for paid service they are required to check the air filter and replace if required. The only extra work was cone replacement and air filter change. My previous bills was around Rs 1200/- for paid service. I strongly doubt for a cone change whether it wil cost Rs. 1500/- extra. Is this normal? Anyone had any similar experience?
