  • hye !

Just started riding again. Leg is much better and it felt great to be back on her ! After the accident all scratched panels have been replaced except the muffler protector. It wasn't in stock and still waiting on it. Had to get the coolant topped up, was rather low. Also, while riding yesturday, my friend (on his bike) said my chain was showing alot of movement, which means it might be too loose. Showed it to the SVC today, and they said its fine, and that i shouldn't get it tightened as once its tightened then i will have to replace the chain and sprocket ! He said they'l tighten it in the next service (which will come at 2500km, odo currently stands at 1150km). Doesn't the CBR come with a normal chain and not an 0/X-ring ? His explanation didn't make alot of sense.
    How are you doing ?

Me and ma Jade are doing just perfect. 7.5k on the odo!!
      Riding her madly!! :P

BTW, the chain needs to be cleaned, lubed, and tightened at regular intervals. Cleaning and lubing can be done by ourselves, but tightening needs some precise adjustments and I would recommend it to the ASC. I clean and lube my chain once the noise from it is pretty noticeable, like once in ~750kms. My chain gets loose at 1.5k kms and I have tightening it with the ASC. It takes just 15 mins for them.

The comment from your ASC makes no sense. Ours is neither O nor X or whatever. Its a normal Master link type chain. Tightening of the chain does not needs the sprockets to be replaced. Be sure have it done or else, its a major safety issue.

      Ride safe.
The limiter kicks in @11,500 rpm just within a second after the first shift..And, that's where the fun begins !! ;)

Praveen, I agree with you because, I am close to 2k kms.. after i ride some 6 or 7 kms in a stretch, i feel a pull in regular intervals. So, I stopped the bike, ran the engine in neutral, no issues.

I suspect the chain or something like that. There is no noise as such, but I am able to feel the pull in regular frequency. This happens after the bike has been ridden 5 or 6 kms everytime. When I start the vehicle in the morning and in the evening, I don't feel that for sometime. Little strange.

Any ideas would be welcome. May be I will clean the chain and lube it and try.

          Hye !

Yeah, I did get the chain lubed, will go back and ask them to tighten it.

On another note, how's everyone finding the brake feel under hard braking ? I've had to brake hard a few times here while riding, and once had to brake hard enough that the rear brake kinda locked, on squeezing the front brake harder the rear wheel came up slightly ! Stopped the bike with just that then, could feel the rear of the bike moving around in the air ! The front brake was very effective and easy to modulate, but sometimes it never felt like i was pressing it that hard. There wasn't much feel from the brake. Is this only me ?

Check the chain slack. The method is clearly given in the manual, or the max. slack is in the swingarm sticker. You can use normal 1-foot ruler for this. If that is normal, check with the ASC.

Regarding brakes, front gives me a very good feedback. I could brake it as hard as I want it. No issues. But the rear.., its sick!!
Whenever, I use the rear brake, it gets locked. I was unaware of it at the initial days, as am new to wearing a helmet and these performance oriented brakes. But, the day I rode without my helmet I found out this. Although it gets locked, No fishtailing or whatever except for a couple of panic braking situations. And the TVS tires aid the brakes to work against me . Absolutely no grip in sandy roads and wet roads. In normal conditions, I feel the tires are good.

Thanks praveen, I will go to ASC sometime to check this.

@Lenov, Front brakes are fabulous, but rear one is not giving me that much confidence. I use the rear in combo with front only in panic breaking situations. Most of the time its only front brake which is fantastic. Also, do not use the rear brake in the slopes when you are in slow speeds. Even though that may be against physics, that is what i read somewhere. I tried it and it was true...

Since, I graduated from P150 (2004), both brakes and tyres are boon to me.

My rear brake is the problem. I hard braked two times and the rear fishtailed two times. But I regained control immediately. Right now my rear brake has no effect at all. The brake reservoir of the rear has been half for the past two months. Since I use engine braking mostly, I am not feeling about the missing of the rear brake preciseness.

Please get your rear axle nuts tightened a wee bit more after you have the chain slackness adjusted. This way, the tightened bolts on the swing-arm will prevent the chain from getting loose often. And don't worry, the nuts cannot be over-tightened too much in this case, just a wee bit more.

The mechanic.. Oooppss.. CBR specialised Mechanic told me that it is the sweet sound of Chain, which is to my best knowledge is not the reason. Don't know what to do????

Are you sure its not the silencer, but the chain? Maybe, the nut/bolt near the silencer is loose.

Seems like all of us have locked up the back brake at some point. Im thinking of getting steel braided brake lines for the front, to improve the feel of the brake. For some reason, it doesn't feel immediate enough. Or maybe Im just too used to the R15's brakes. Hehe.
@neevarp16, i have TVS tyres as well, though i havent used them in the rain, they have been good enough ! Was surprised honestly, with all the apprehensions i had about TVS, they turned out just fine.

MAn, TVS tyres are good. I have them too. Even though they are not great, I will stick with it till 10000 kms.

I would agree with you, a friend of mine has an Apache and those tyres had no grip at all ! They would slide on gravel, water, under braking, high speeds, anything ! But the TVS tyres for the CBR are a little different. They might not be as soft as MRF's, but they are definitely way stickier than those on the Apache. And my friend with the Apache agrees hehe ! They are surprisingly good on the road. On the track it's gonna be another story altogether.

                          • Had a 200 km ride today to Bhangarh, asia's most haunted place. I had a pillion and the total weight of both of us was around 160 kgs. I was able to attain a top speed of 120 kmph redlining in every gear, but in the 6th gear, bike just refused to go beyond 9500 rpm. WHY?

This is my first post in this website and this thread. thanks to all who contributed their experience about cbr 150r. nearly a week i waited to get the access for posting my questions here.

I am happy to share you my joy that i have made my booking for cbr 150r orange color in Lodha Honda, Tamabar, chennai. today evening.. I have got the best price here after getting quotations from various dealers. the waiting period is just one month.. the guy who attended me in showroom was good in explaining everything. I need your help on this... that guy said there is an upgraded cbr 150r going to be released after march 2013. it will be with kick start. and it is not officially announced & he got the news from some where in the magazines. so i think it may come up with latest switch gear with engine kill switch and Pass light . if i get those features i am ready to wait for another 4 months also.. how to confirm this news.. ? thanks in advace..
