I got my CBR150R from Sapphire Honda, J.P.Nagar , Bangalore on the 24th April, right since day one, i found some niggling issues, with the bike, just after taking delivery, i observed that coolant was leaking, after much persuasion the dealer fixed it, and said the bike was fine. On the 7th of May subsequently, i observed that the engine was getting pretty hot, and the coolant level , had dropped below the "LOW", mark, when i complained the dealer, he said a mere top up will do, and when i took it there, he said that , the radiator fan was not working . I previously owned a Unicorn, and never faced a single problem with it , and expected the same quality with the CBR150, but to my utter dismay there seems to be a new problem with this bike every day . Now to add to my agony the dealer says, they dont have the required spares, so the bike has to be left with them, till the 12th and they can get the spares and repair it only by then. I am really unhappy with the poor quality control of HMSI. I would suggest any prospective buyers to take this fact into consideration, as i got to know that the spares for the KTM DUKE 200 and the Yamaha R15 V2, are in stock with the dealers, and hence they can be repaired, if at all required, immediately, while its not the same with the CBR150R.
I m sure yours is a one off case, there is nothing wrong with cbr 150 in general..

Bike engine will get hot esp. while in run in so, never mind that..

Try and ascertain if the coolant is being used up by the engine or
its leaking and if its leaking try and ascertain the source of the leak.

As for your dealer not cooperating.. just lodge a complaint with Honda via there website.. I m sure they will make sure their dealer obliges..

I did the same once with Bajaj and My Pulsar 135LS was fixed in a day..

Just to let you know KTM Duke has oil leak issues but there is no such thing in general with CBR 150R

Dont lose heart u'll issues will be sorted in no time if you just know
where and how to escalate issues if need be

Hey buddy, congrats for your purchase and welcome to xbhp!
Its not exactly right to blame the manufacturer when only only bike is experiencing a certain problem. The problem could have also been created due to improper handling by the dealer. And regarding the spared part, its been hardly a few weeks, give some time...
My friend has a Duke, he met with an accident on the day of purchase... some 4+ weeks back and he is yet to get the rear mud guard which broke in the accident.

      • Was the temperature above 3 bars?

Yes the temperature was showing at 4 bars and the 5th bar kept blinking.Which as per the owners handbook, needs immediate attention

That is correct; if its below low, they don't replace, they only topup

I am fine with that, because i know that, as the same is done with cars, but is it not absurd that coolant gets exhausted in 14days, also i only wanted the bike to be on roads, not confined to the service center.

Like how? If the fan wasn't working, then that would lead to engine seizure or worst issues. Besides, the fan is controlled automatically by ECM. How did you determine that the fan wasn't working?

It was the service manager at Sapphire Honda, who confirmed it, i was not the one who said that.

ROTFL!!! Are you aware a mere comparison of CC is unjust here? Besides Unicorn engine is much older than 150R's engine?

I am not going for any comparison, i was speaking of Hondas quality, i trusted their quality and hence paid the premium, to go for a CBR150 also mentioned Unicorn as both are from the same company.

Like what apart from coolant topup?

As mentioned on Day one itself, all the coolant leaked, which means that proper PDI was not done at the dealers place.

What spares do you need? What did the dealer say & what is the need? Can you elaborate pls?

He says the radiator fan assembly needs a replacement, and that HMSI, has not shipped them the spares as of now.

Sure? Go through KTM ownership thoroughly!!! BTW, every ride has its own set of issues be it TVS 50 or Triumph; one has to learn to live with it

Yes my friend owns a Duke 200, and his bike developed some issues, which were instantly rectified by KTM Indiranagar's Service at Bangalore. So i speak out of experience. Also i understand that u have to learn to live with issues, but issues from day one is not expected, from a premium product, thats all i want to say.

        • saishankarpatra - Your issue seems to be one of a kind; there were seizures with R15 also, most of them went unreported & there were disasters too Duke...several major issues go unreported. Anyway, point is not about reporting issues, point is about fixing with CbR 150R.

Write to Honda customer care, so that you've proof. If you know any of the old members owning CBR 250R from Bangalore, get in touch with them to escalate your issue with Honda. That way, you'll get better attention & resolve the issues quicker.

PS - Pls go through this before your next post - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/coffee-l...tiquettes.html, had fun going through your 2nd post

            • Thanks all, for your response, and encouraging words. I was assured by the dealer that the issue will be sorted out for sure by the 12th of this month, and am expecting them to stand to their word, hence for now i am not planning for any escalation. Only reason why i wanted to bring this out is, i have owned the Unicorn earlier, and i can vouch for the quality of that bike, though its in an all together different league. Also i would sincerely wish that this is a one off case, as i sincerely feel, Honda should still have the best quality check, to justify the higher price of its products.

then escalate.. One reason i bought CBR 150 is Honda's

No first service is pending. 300km over. I bought 150 instead of 250 only because of mileage. at least it should give 45.

Early adapters of any bike tends to have some issues. After all you guys need to pay something for all extra attention you get on road. I am sure Honda will act swiftly if you approach them properly. they have biggest usp of honda brand as reliability. am sure they wish to keep it that way.

+1; this was the same with my case; refer to CBR 250R ownership on my posts sometimes during June end. Most of the times, the culprits are the dealers as they don't act swift. Also, some dealers DO NOT stock adequate parts on account of their inventory cost shooting up; so they order based on the requirements & hence the delay in getting those spares.

This is why we listed out some of the best dealers/ASC in CBR 250R ownership based on the experiences of our members here.
