After riding in rains I could see a small patch of brownish shade in triangular shape in the lower margin of the radiator! Guess, the spot where water had splashed and evaporated!Originally posted by Manikantan.b View PostOwners does the shortness of the front mudguard cause any dirt to get inside the radiator? The limiter kicks in @11,500 rpm just within a second after the first shift..And, that's where the fun begins !! ;)

Got My Bike finally !!!
Initially, i had problems with Didar motors wherin i dint get my bike even after waiting almost 2 months. Cancelled the booking there (they din even cared to know why am cancelling). Then booked in Velachery Mansarovar honda and got the bike in 5 days.

Now the bike in my house, but i need to wait for 1 more week for registration since i've asked for a special number.
As usual, first impression - Its awesomeeeee to ride... enjoyed a 10 kms ride
. Its really hard to control ourself within 60 KMPH
Suddenly my right RVM got loosen
. Need to check with SVC ASAP.
And like everyone, am also getting the burnt wire smell from the bike, but even after a 2 mins ride
1st attachment - My bike
2nd attachment - Am planning to buy this helmet from Spartan progear- ECR chennai.. Sol helmet. 4200 Rs/-
And i got 2 doubts .. Please clarify
1) Does this bike have centre stand ?
2) The brake lever is not having any rubber on it .. Is it right?Last edited by danielmanickaraj; 07-22-2012, 12:41 PM.

And regarding your doubts,
1. No, 150R does not have a center stand.
2. The brake levers are chrome plated and so, no need of a rubber coveringThe limiter kicks in @11,500 rpm just within a second after the first shift..And, that's where the fun begins !! ;)

I drove for a long ride for 1600 kms taking the route Chennai-Tirunelveli-Erode. The bike is rough now and Im thinking of doing service now. Can I do it now or return to Chennai and do it?.
Also can i use synthetic oil instead of mineral oil? What are the advantages of synthetic over mineral?Sometimes you gotta run before you can walk ! - Tony Stark

Wow! you were on a tour! The first recorded one on a 150R.Originally posted by mulli84 View PostI drove for a long ride for 1600 kms taking the route Chennai-Tirunelveli-Erode. The bike is rough now and Im thinking of doing service now. Can I do it now or return to Chennai and do it?.

Congratz!
Btw, erode to chennai is another 400kms and it'll make it up a 2k. But, when did you last changed your oil?? Didn't you have the first service yet? but, that means its out of warranty terms! I too have asked about the mineral to synthetic conversion questions some posts back, but no replies on that! The limiter kicks in @11,500 rpm just within a second after the first shift..And, that's where the fun begins !! ;)

Donnt wanna offend anyone, but i didnt get one thing off my head , i myself own a r15,
i see that r15 and cbr 150 are two premium bikes , i never quite understood bajaj's stand, the 200NS offers better power and average and equipmets which are comparable to our bikes with prices lesser than 1 Lac,
how does that work out ?.

Different quality level of materials being used. Some parts are manufactured outside the country thus making parts costlier. Different level of R&D into the product. And these Jap giants are extracting so much power out of a small 150cc mil which isnt just extremely difficult to manufacture but even more tedious to make sure these engines are reliable in the long run and being that in India, decent mileage also matters while meeting emission standards.Originally posted by abdulsheikh007 View PostDonnt wanna offend anyone, but i didnt get one thing off my head , i myself own a r15,

And not to mention, the 150cc sports bikes are a huge gamble in the Indian market. When the R15 was launched Yamaha wasnt sure if it would succeed or fail due to the same question of "150cc engine and 1.2 lakhs? Are they crazy". Now the same question is being framed on the 150R. "1.3 lakhs for a 150? Are they crazy?"
But one fine day maybe 10 years from now people will understand the difference between these bikes. Until then, pray to god that atleast people understand the basics behind automotive engineering and what goes in and out of every R&D and how much money has been spent on engineering them :PLast edited by Nithesh; 07-23-2012, 02:23 AM.Got a $5 head? 200NS is a liquid cooled Carbureted bike whereas both 150R and R15 are ECU controlled fuel injected bikes. Your ride and 150Rs performance and other parameters are controlled by a small computer chip whereas 200NS bikes parameters are controlled by tuned carburetor with mechanical process. Both R15 and 150R are covered with fibre panels.. Not the case with 200NS hence, the price variation.Originally posted by abdulsheikh007 View PostDonnt wanna offend anyone, but i didnt get one thing off my head , i myself own a r15,

Good carburetors like this are cheaper to make than Fuel injectors ? Or micro-controller chips are more expensive than mechanical devices that accomplish similar task ? Or fiber panels can account for the cost difference ? Or japanese brands are importing their parts ? Or Bajaj/Tvs/Hero aren't spending any money on R&D ? I don't even see that Bajaj's parts or R&D are of any inferior quality .
I don't think that they base the prices of the bikes here on input costs alone . It has to do with "target market segment" , and they price the product accordingly . A business management thing .
Of-course I fancy a particular Honda bike or R15(lovely one that
) , but that is a different subjective matter .

Thanks bro for the data.Originally posted by sayank10 View Postno semi-synthetic until 2500 km,no fully-synthetic until 4500-5000 km.
But, after first service at 1000kms the due is with 2nd service at 4000kms. So, Can I change directly to fully synthetic at 2nd service or should I do a change at 2.5k to semi-synthetic and then to fully synthetic at 2nd service??
again!
