Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
For those in doubt regarding tyre SIZES, here's a detailed review of the pros and cons of using each size on 200NS:
130/70-17 rear:
Pros: It's the best size when it comes to getting the perfect balance between acceleration and top speed. It's also the best size considering cornering: its easier to get the bike into a corner, easier to stay that way and it's the size on which you get your fastest corner speed. Clearly Bajaj have done a lot of homework on the perfect tyre size and they got it right.
Cons: The one and only con in my opinion: it looks puny compared to the rest of the bike.
140/70-17 rear: All tyres with this size have greater height than all 130/70-17s. And this tyre on our rims meant for a 130 section make it more rounded at the center, thus increasing height even more.
Pros: This makes the engine run at lower rpms per speed in each gear and as a result highway cruising feels amazingly relaxed. For example 7k rpm 6th gear comes upto 110 km/h instead of 103. This also means better fuel efficiency, again on the highway. Looks amazing. Lots of options in this size thanks to the japs, the Fz, the CBR250R and the Ninja 300. Lastly ground clearance is better.
Cons: The immediate realisation would be lower acceleration. Followed by decreased top speed, since the new height overgears the final drive and makes it harder for the engine to quickly touch 150+. Also, 140/70-17 tyres are heavier than 130-70-17 so city FE might remain the same or reduce by 2-3 km/l. Next up, cornering speeds will be lower, followed by slight change in chassis dynamics, i.e it would require a bit more effort to plant the bike into the corner. This comes from personal experience on using the Dunlop Tuff grip. Lastly, this tyre gives a taller seat height which may make it even more difficult for guys who are around 5'7" tall.
150/60-17 rear: Height comes to be nearly equal to that of a 130/70-17.
Pros: Looks.
Cons: Everything changes, from cornering stability to engine stress at any given scenario. In my opinion, this tyre is a strict no-no for our rim. It can be used by installing a bigger rim and making a few changes to the swingarm, which again is not practical or economical given the plethora of other options.
100/80-17 front:
Pros: Perfect again for practically everything.
Cons: Very few options in this department.
110/80-17 front: Theory of the 140/70-17 rear applies here.
Pros: Looks, ground clearance.
Cons: The first major hit would be to cornering stability. Secondly, the larger height means that the front wheel spins a bit slower than stock at a given real speed. And as a result the indicated speed will reduce by around 2-5 km/h so distance and mileage calculations using trip meter readings will become unreliable (speedo error notwithstanding).
If anyone has tried out any other tyre size, front or rear, do post a query.Last edited by Aditya N Bharadwaj; 03-13-2014, 10:37 PM.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

I disagree with the cons given above, I have been using duke 200's rev z 150/60 rear for the last 3000 kms, I have only seen improvements in handling, cornering, and grip, very satisfied with this tyre.Originally posted by smrutisourav View PostAre you sure about this? Re: About tire enquiry:-
I am signing in after a long break.
Hope everyone doing well on your beasts
Now my bike's mileage is about 18K & 15 Months old.
I am getting 37-38 fuel mileage (my riding style is very_____
)
I am happy with it.
Back tire changed on 9K & front on 14K
100/80 Zapper FX on front
130/70 Zapper Q on back.
My first request :- "NEVER EVER" use 100/80 Zapper FX on front.
If you had done, you know it, why I am saying.
Your bike will lose control. & you will feel you are on "Bajaj Platina"..
Zapper Q is very hard compound (MRF doesn't say so)
So, there is no grip on any surface. Wheel locking is common
Still 60% tread is left for me ( don't forget, I had replaced my stock Eurogrip tire on 9K)
My advice: If you want more tire mileage, Zapper Q is for you
I am still have same old aggressive riding style (of-course, now with some fear
)
Drive chain replaced on last service
Doesn't had any major complaints - except faulty carburetor, which had replaced before second service.
Now I want to replace front tire to stock to bring back that fearless ride
Anyone help me?
Anyone from Malabar Area?I wish if I am the only rider in roads !!!!!
So I can red line my bike all the time

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Hey guys my friend has a Dio non gear bike.. It doesn't require PUC at all is what was told to him. And the puc certificate of bullet and other such bikes state some percentages of various gases , whereas mine states non polluting vehicle . So does non polluting vehicle means no PUC required for lifetime ? Attaching a pic . The expiry date is written by me..

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Puc is always required. Its a must have document along with DL,RCand insurance. You may get in trouble if cops caught you. Challan for not keeping the PUC is 1000RS.Originally posted by pratiksgole View PostHey guys my friend has a Dio non gear bike.. It doesn't require PUC at all is what was told to him. It works on petrol. Its an internal combustion engine after all. Its needs a PUC like other vehicles.

Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences
Holy s### 1000 Rs.. You sure ? I always keep my PUC up to date, only once I was stopped at a checkpost in Dwarka and that time I was caught with a PUC which had expired just 2-3 days back.. Costed me only Rs 100 to get out of there.. :P if you know what I'm saying..Originally posted by Rishabh14 View PostPuc is always required. Its a must have document along with DL,RCand insurance.
