  • Re: 200NS: Very strange issue with acceleration

    Hey!
So after the first service which i did on 624km (current odo reading 776) i found some weird problems :
    (1) The engine now sounds like a duke in some ways! :P The RPM shows 2k while idling after sometime of riding. Is there something to be worried about?
    (2) While accelerating sometimes i can feel the vibes coming from the pillion seat.
(3)The reserve light doesn't come on when the fuel gauge has on bars in it.
(4)The gears get stuck while downshifting
    (5) The front brake when applied makes a noise of "drrrrr" like the wheel is going free..I told the SVC guys about it during the first service, they said they would scrub the brake pads but i don't think its helping.

Dear fellow riders, when we are replacing the timing chain of our 200NS, we need set piston at TDC position but i cant find any CRANKSHAFT END ACCESSING SCREW.Only timing mark 'T' window is there. How to rotate the crankshaft to achieve TDC? Here i have attached crankshaft screw of R15 V1 and RTR for your reference.i would be grateful if i get a reply.Click image for larger version

There's a similar 'bolt' on the left crankcase cover facing upwards, rotated using an ln key (size unknown to me). That might be the one you're looking for. I may be wrong though.

Beautifully done!! Love the exhaust and the color scheme. Novel place to mount the rear number plate and its illuminator...
Am sure this bike isn't in India
All riders fall; some get back on, some don't, some can't...

                            Hi Everyone,

I seem to be facing a potential battery discharge of my NS. I bought it last September and it has run some 5500 kms. It has also been ridden almost daily. I recently noticed that whenever I use the brakes and horn together or indicator and horn together the horn sounds a little meek. In my erstwhile bike this was an indication of discharge.

Im a little concerned since the bike has been running on a daily basis and is less than an year old. Is it possible for it to get discharged so soon? Also I read somewhere in this forum that the battery is maintanence free. Does that mean it doesnt have to be recharged? I havent used an electric starter before and as the NS is devoid of a kick start I am dependent on the self start. I am planning a 700 km bike trip along with some friends in August end and I would hate to have it break down during that trip.

I would request all experienced owners to suggest a remedy.

                            Thanks in advance.

In a fully DC bike, a slight change is expected. If you observe clearly, when the engine is fully warmed up and the idle is at 1.5k, switch on the headlamp to high beam and the revs drop to 1.4k rpm.

But just in case, try getting hold of another NS owner and make the required checks. In case you feel the reduction in sound is pretty adverse in your bike, yours must be a one-off case. There must be some problem with the wiring, not sure exactly where; or the alternator. Im using dual horns, led indicators and had HID twice earlier (which have been scrapped now). Even if i use(d) each appliance simultaneously i found just a negligible drop in their performance. Its been 2 years / 30k km since purchase now and battery has never faced discharge during normal operation except this one time when I had left the key & kill switch on overnight by mistake. Even in that case, push starting solved it. In case of an abnormality, I would advise against the 700 km ride. Get it checked. In the worst case scenario, push for warranty replacement of the full wiring / alternator. A single bike breaking down aint good for the whole group.

I would suggest you install a small voltmeter too, connected across the battery terminals and placed near the console just to continuously monitor the voltage. It's a cheap and simple mod, with the voltmeter available off most automotive shops. The battery can handle 60W headlamps so a voltmeter which hardly consumes 3W is negligible IMO.

Get the battery checked at a battery shop, preferably first thing in the morning before you ride much (because riding charges battery). They will check the voltage and let you know immediately if it needs recharging. And yes MF batteries too might require recharging depending on how they are used/stored etc.. sept 2013 until now, almost an yr and only 5500km..hmm do get the battery checked.
If a recharge doesn't fix the issue, then you need to get the battery replaced.
