I recently brought a NS and here are some problems i am facing:

    1. Miss shifts and false neutrals. Whenever i shift from 1st to 2nd it either goes into neutral or gives a false neutral and the gear drops then.
    2. The eurogrip. Never in my life i have been across a worse tyre the tarmac grip is average, the wet tarmac is just ice skating, in sand it's all over the place
The only place i find it good is in much which is hard to find in NCR

So can you tell me how to fix the shift problem and is there a 200NS compatible quick shifter i can buy and as of tyres nothing can be done i have to ride those only

      Hello Everyone

This is probably my first post here. I have been following this thread for quite some time now (since the day i bought this bike, ie March 2014) and learnt quite a lot from this.

I live in Hyderabad and this is my first bike. My bike is now 9 months old. Bike has covered 3000+ km. I properly executed the run in, and now a days I try to exploit it to its full potential.
I haven't experienced any problem as such, but i have below 3 minor problems that keep distracting me from enjoying a pleasant ride now-a-days:

      1. I get a sound, something like "thud", when I engage the gears ie leave the clutch lever after shifting to a gear.

this sound doesn't come on every shift, it comes like 3 out of 5 times and it always comes as soon as the gear gets engaged. It is perfectly noticeable when engaging 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears, I am not sure about higher gears as it is hard to feel and hear it at those speeds.
I am not sure when this sound started to come, but I am sure that it wasn't there 1 and a half month back.
I went to the service center to get this investigated but they told me that it is normal and it is because of load being passed on to the engine. (if this is the case then shouldn't it come always?)

      2. RPM Meter's (Tachometer?) needle vibrates a lot and doesn't start from the zero mark, but from a bit right side of the initial position. (Will upload the pic tomorrow)
This again wasn't there when I had purchased the bike. This is a very minor issue though, but still if I can get back the smoothness I would really appreciate it.

      3. There is a sound that comes from the front brake when i push the bike slowly (bike is off).
This sound seems to come when my wheel completes one rotation, as if the brake is touching. mechanics at the service center haven't been able to resolve the issue.
This again is not audible once i start the bike and start riding.

Awaiting for some great replies. Thanks in advance.

Get your brake pads rubbed with flint paper a bit. My sc guy did it. No sound thereafter but also remember to get your brakes tightened a little.

I own the original Pulsar 150cc with the round headlamp (still do ) and was one of the first owners of the Pulsar brand when it launched. Am in love with my NS as well. Over the years, have realized that there are some factors that are hereditary and there are specific pros and cons of certain brands that kind of stick to the brand.

Gear shifts have always been a pain area for Bajaj and it doesn't seem they have managed to sort things out yet. Best I can suggest is during the running-in period change the gears slowly and gradually especially when changing to and from the first gear. That's what I did and I haven't faced major shifting / false neutrals in these last two years.

Would recommend switching your "Euroslips" ASAP!! Please go through this forum for suggestions and user feedback as most folks have switched to the Pirelli Speed Demon and a couple of other tyres. I am using the Ceat Zoom tyre which give me very good grip and am more confident when at high speeds or going through corners.

          Ride Safe!!

Bajaj says the mileage of ns is 58kmpl. I too once got around 76km for 100 rs petrol. My usual mileage is 43 kmpl while riding in economy and 32 kmpl when ripping hard

The NS is a very well engineered machine...Good power, very good around bends and cherry on the cake is the decent average it still manages to give even after riding hard...
Even i get upto 45 kmpl under sane driving and close around to 40-41 when driven hard i am running slightly rich afr which makes ns little gruntier and vibey exactly the way i like it..

Mate bikes new.. along with engine gearbox also needs time to set in..
After 1st service switch to mineral oil for upto 8~9k kms and then switch to semi synth or full..
If you run in your bike properly you won't have issues with gearbox or mileage in near future..
Also once while stretch her to max

When you're upshifting or while downshifting just give some pressure to gear lever before shifting which will give you butter smooth shift. It follows the same way of taking picture, focus before taking shot.

Conversely, a high heat range (or cold) spark plug has a short thick insulator nose which will dissipate heat much easier (above right).Mostly they will not make a major difference. CR9 is advised by many as 200ns is a high compression engine and produces quite a bit of heat.
Thats what i was thinking. Thanks bro. Right now i'm using twin head champion,i don't even know weather its hot or cold plug.lol.. Gotta check it.

ohh...then as i said, that must be the brake pads rubbing the discs contantly.
Thats normal when bike is new..
tht buzzing sound also irritated me a lot during run-in, then i myself removed the pads, rubbed it on sand paper and lubricated the brake piston..
actuly the brake pistons do not retract back into the caliper thats why the distance between the pads and disc is less and pads rub the disc.
dun worry, either do it the way i did, or let it be because it'll automatically disappear after some months..

These people are talking about mileage of around 50. I've never seen my bike return more than 36kmpl.

And before anyone points fingers about the run in, it was done properly. Rode between 50-60kmph. :/

After 700kms, I just couldn't resist and pug down the paddle.
Now ,no matter how I ride ,on highway in city ,sane ,insane ,it just returns 30kmpl.

36 was my highest. Usually get around 32. I wonder what's wrong.

Every bike will give a different average depending on how it has been maintained, your riding style and where you ride your bike...

I used to get about 65-67 kmpl on my Pulsar 150cc in the first few years...as the years passed and due to my faults (untimely maintenance, non usage of about 6-7 months among others) the average reduced to about 30kmpl..

My current ride, the NS returns anywhere between 45-47...the least I've got in these two years is 42kmpl in complete city riding mostly in very bad traffic

Try and refuel at the same petrol pumps that you normally do..

Not implying that the folks getting a lower average are not maintaining their bikes well or are riding rashly...but these factors make a huge difference in the final outcome...

Oh yeah... And as far as possible, avoid handing your bike to anyone else to ride. Since it is not theirs, they may not be as careful with it as you are

I know, bro. But I maintain my bike well, and mainly ride it on a bypass. All the services have been done on time and I don't even ride rashly. My average speed now is around 65-70kmph. I use Motul 7100 and I lube my chain regularly with Motul Chain cleaner and lube set. I clean my bike every 2 weeks and polish it with turtle wax thereon.

                                This is depressing.
