I seriously dont think so...... its not coz of Bajaj or the bike is bad...its all cause of the crappy service provided at the SVCs....for eg i have been telling SVC about the fork issue which i have, about 2-3 times , but they were just not ready to accept it and were saying its normal.... finally made them compare it with new NS and also made them ride at higher speeds(>80kmph) and then they accepted the fork issue also the wobbling stuff and vibrations..... so much you have to break your head on them to make them understand....i am seriously tired of visting SVC again and again

Yeah, perhaps you are right. But they literally make cheap products. And ya SVC people are real nerds!

Got the issue fixed at svc ... after a slight heated argument.. the svc guys checked the gauge properly and its was found that the sensor was faulty ( thats what they said )... got it repaired for free ..
still yeah the gauge is not very accurate .. but still better than before !!
one thing i have noticed that if the is tilted at right side the gauge goes up and on left it goes down or i would say gives almost a correct reading !!
Had a look inside the tank of an other ns at svc found that there is a float kinda of thingy is present on the right side of the tank .... the owner of that ns said that.. while filling up petrol.. if possible fill from right side .. on asking why he said that while filling up from left only causes to fuel settle on float which then shows incorrect reading and takes time adjust !!
And yes i do keep bike in mains but at sometimes due lack of time .. or because of college submissions :P i sometimes i skip checking the fuel level properly !! :P and hence reserve :P
Yes that is almost a given in most of the bikes, including all generation of Pulsars with digital fuel gauge (still love the analog for accuracy). Yes, when the bike is tilted at a certain angle for a long time, you turn the ignition on and you see almost a tank full and when you bring the bike up right and ride for a few KMS, it's almost get back to its old form. Either filling left or right, isn't the deal breaker. However once the bike is upright, fluid dynamics take over and bring you the accurate result.

Sometimes you even see the bike's reserve light lighting up, with almost a quarter tank, that's a classic example. Once you set the bike upright, it's all done.

Glad you've changed your gauge. Happy riding!

My 200ns is due for 3rd service with 240 days & 8100 kms on odo, advice what specific instructions to be given while handing over bike for servicing. Regular issues I am facing is vibrations post 4k rpm, bike seems unsettled on speeds above 75 kmph, unsettled ride regardless of any speed, hard acceleration - these are major concerns.

Last night, someone leaned on my bike while in parking & it felled on left side, handle & bar-end weight got bend & clutch lever bend too in U-shape, left mirror & left side crash guard gone & minor scratch on meter head (yet to rectify if any internal damage done or not). Another extra expense ready on top of servicing & labour charges.

I have filled on Motul 7100 SS around 1500 kms earlier (current reading 8100 kms), advice if I can run on same for another 1k/2k KMS or to change oil as provided by SVC. Also advice me what else I need to get changed apart from services as mentioned for 3rd service.

Last but not least, ADVICE WHICH SVC IS BEST IN HYDERABAD as I am fed up with service provided by Deccan Bajaj workshop @ Ranigunj.

                Best Regards.

                Salman
Go for the 7100 if you like the performance. Trust me, the oil that the SVC guys use in no way comes close to Motul 7100 in anyway. Stick to this for a while, if you love the performance. Vibrations are a given in 200 NS, nothing much can be done. Get the screws tightened.

                please help me
It's basically due to dust accumulation, happens in most disc brakes time to time. Nothing to worry about.

DEFINITELY A BIG NO NO for 300V. The bike as young as 2k should be properly set in for another 2 to 3k KMS. Stick to 5100 for the time being, and then after you can use 300V.

                Cheers!

                • Hello NS owners,

I have a slightly long query so please bear with me.

I was initially planning to buy a NS, but held back because it was a prototype launched by Bajaj and common sense would dictate that the initial batches of bikes usually have issues which get rectified later.
My last ride was a ug1 discover 150cc, good workhorse, poor performance in terms of speed and handling, but none the less it served it's purpose.
So I was considering an upgrade to the highly anticipated 200 NS
But there are certain doubts I have which is still holding me back. So here are the doubts.

                  1) Reliability
How reliable is the bike? My needs are slightly tourish types with having to go for long distances, with constant speed and at times the occasional ripping. So can the engine hold it together? I rode a friends 220 and at touching 145(speedo indicated, probably it was 130) the engine sounded like it was going to tear itself apart. Can any NS owner who went for long distance rides at the top end of the powerband give me details on the engine performance?
Further I also heard after reading this forum that there are vibrations and the fairings rattle and shake, I understand that such was an issue on the first initial batches but what about the newer ones? do they still have such?
Consoles electrical etc, how are they? I understand that Bajaj Instruments are slightly off, giving false readings, how bad is it for the NS? further if its is a watered down Duke are the electricals vulnerable to water that is, if it is left out in the rain or washed will the electronics be effected? (the duke had this problem)

                  2) Durability
How durable is the bike? I do not expect it survive a crash given it is made of plastic, but consider going off road, do the fit and finish seems like they would last, say a rough pothole?
and will it last say 8 years? like a Honda?

                  3)Services
I read through the thread that service techs are not so well versed with the NS. Given this is the NS owner service friendly? or does it require the expertise required for a cbr?
further will all service bays of Bajaj be able to handle repairs to the bike, in case I do go out to some far off place

                  Thanks.
Sorry for the dismissive attitude, but after reading reviews on the NS over the net gave me a wary attitude on the vehicle most of them seemed to be written by fan boys or those who are really bad at maintaining a performance bike. Also the hype given by Bajaj kind of dies out after using the vehicle so any impartial feedback would help.
And I would not prefer a bullet.

When it comes to touring, the bike is unsettled above it's comfort zone of ~120 km/h and the rider faces a tiring blast of wind, which of course is what accompanies a naked bike. And the engine doesn't sound like it's gonna tear itself apart, very relaxed at cruising speeds.

                    Offroad? The 220 fares better.
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

                      • Regd durability off roading topic I can vouch that it performs very poor in that aspect. If you previous post I have mentioned it. My daily travel involves rough potholes, the center bolt gets loose every 15 days. The bike engine is comfortable Upto 120 kmph only after that lot of vibration.

I have done a journey of 180 kms non-stop ..!! Engine is way more different than the one on 220 .. its smooth and almost vibe free ...if compared to 220....
During entire journey i was doing 100-110 km/h at 7-7.5 k rpm .. and yeah engine didnt sounded like it would tear itself apart !! .. but you would have to slightly crouch because of wind blast (pointed out in previous post) .. after all this it has enough juice left to overtake other vehicles even though the speed is above 120 !!

One main thing !! tires when cold is less gripper but when warmed enough they have above avg grip !!

And as far as electrical's are concerned dont apply water with force around console .. svc washed my bike during delivery and after that had problems with console !! rest is fine !!

If its smooth and rattle free ride your after ..sorry to say but ns does have vibes (new or old) i can say it because i have the 2013 model and one of my friend owns ns from 1 batch that came to nashik .. vibes are not drastic though !! Some vibes can be felt at handlebars and seats ..

But in the end i think its complete VFM bike !!

Most of the power output of the bike is in the upper power band, above 7k rpm. The bike is well planted till 120s. After that it starts bumping off the road. Vibes are persistent in the tank, handle bars and foot rest. Electricals are of good quality apart from the horn which is a bit feeble on highways.

                              2) Durability

Do not think it'll last for 8 years when ridden excessievely. The chassis is strong enough to cope with a crash. The bike behaves well in off road conditions too (stock tyres are a thumbs down).

                              3)Services
I read through the thread that service techs are not so well versed with the NS. Given this is the NS owner service friendly? or does it require the expertise required for a cbr?

Easily serviceable in my opinion, but the bajaj SVCs screw up the bike almost all the time. But maintaing an NS is hectic as irritating minor issues keep showing up every-time.

And I would not prefer a bullet..
I'd reccomment you a ZMA, ZMR, or a CBR (220 is not worth it, apart from the projectors and FI). They all are good touring bikes and would also last as much as you expect. These bikes have been in the arena for quite a lot of time, so no worries about being from the initial production vehicles too.

Hey Guys,I have few queries. Currently 7k on the odo

1> If I take the bike to above 100 for few mins and come back down to around 70, It feels smoother than ever. What could be the reason for this?
2> Many have asked this and even I get a constant buzzing sound (like a key chain vibrating) from somewhere around the console. I have tried to get rid of it by putting double sided tapes, stuffing the console with foam and what not but to no avail. What could possibly be causing this?
3> While downshifting, if the bike is below 15kmph, the gear doesn't slot in instantaneously. It almost kinda slips into place if you know what I mean. Any ideas why?

Apart from the above niggles, I have no complaints. Bike is riding like a dream

Any pointers are much appreciated Cheers!
