    • Hi there !! I'm nearing 9k on my ns and I don't wanna give my bike to the bajaj svc for my third service. Can anyone suggest a good reliable mechanic in Pune. I don't mind spending more as long as the job done is good. And this being a major service I have to change the oil , filter , coolant , spark plugs , get the brakes checked, tighten nuts n bolts !! Anything m missing out here which i should keep in mind . No major problems with the bike till now.

2> Many have asked this and even I get a constant buzzing sound (like a key chain vibrating) from somewhere around the console. I have tried to get rid of it by putting double sided tapes, stuffing the console with foam and what not but to no avail. What could possibly be causing this?
3> While downshifting, if the bike is below 15kmph, the gear doesn't slot in instantaneously. It almost kinda slips into place if you know what I mean. Any ideas why?

Apart from the above niggles, I have no complaints. Bike is riding like a dream

Any pointers are much appreciated Cheers!
        1. A very natural & common thing to experience. Revving up the engine in intervals does have it's effects on the engine & it's parts & functionality, so in this case, often the feel & experience of smoothness.
        2. Well stuff up mite does help a bit, but not entirely, it's cause of the plastics I believe. Though irritating, it'll grow on u, not major side effects, just keep a check on the fittings at times.
        3. This is also common, can be cause of multiple possibilities, oil, lubrication, slackness, cleanliness, etc.. Just do scheduled checks on it & it'd not be of any issue.

I have a slightly long query so please bear with me.

I was initially planning to buy a NS, but held back because it was a prototype launched by Bajaj and common sense would dictate that the initial batches of bikes usually have issues which get rectified later.
My last ride was a ug1 discover 150cc, good workhorse, poor performance in terms of speed and handling, but none the less it served it's purpose.
So I was considering an upgrade to the highly anticipated 200 NS
But there are certain doubts I have which is still holding me back. So here are the doubts.

        1) Reliability
How reliable is the bike? My needs are slightly tourish types with having to go for long distances, with constant speed and at times the occasional ripping. So can the engine hold it together? I rode a friends 220 and at touching 145(speedo indicated, probably it was 130) the engine sounded like it was going to tear itself apart. Can any NS owner who went for long distance rides at the top end of the powerband give me details on the engine performance?
Further I also heard after reading this forum that there are vibrations and the fairings rattle and shake, I understand that such was an issue on the first initial batches but what about the newer ones? do they still have such?
Consoles electrical etc, how are they? I understand that Bajaj Instruments are slightly off, giving false readings, how bad is it for the NS? further if its is a watered down Duke are the electricals vulnerable to water that is, if it is left out in the rain or washed will the electronics be effected? (the duke had this problem)

        2) Durability
How durable is the bike? I do not expect it survive a crash given it is made of plastic, but consider going off road, do the fit and finish seems like they would last, say a rough pothole?
and will it last say 8 years? like a Honda?

        3)Services
I read through the thread that service techs are not so well versed with the NS. Given this is the NS owner service friendly? or does it require the expertise required for a cbr?
further will all service bays of Bajaj be able to handle repairs to the bike, in case I do go out to some far off place

        Thanks.
Sorry for the dismissive attitude, but after reading reviews on the NS over the net gave me a wary attitude on the vehicle most of them seemed to be written by fan boys or those who are really bad at maintaining a performance bike. Also the hype given by Bajaj kind of dies out after using the vehicle so any impartial feedback would help.
And I would not prefer a bullet.
        1. If u understand the tech behind the bikes, u wouldn't need to worry about the issues of vibes, shakes & all. It's very much expected in a small engine delivering such immense power w.r.t. its capacity. Though these issues exist, it shouldn't be a major prob to worry about as they do know to manufacture acc/to the standards required for it.
I haven't heard electrical systems being vulnerable to water, unless a manufacturing or accidental defect/cause. Not even on the duke. So it's again, no reason to worry about as they make bikes with every possible considerations. Reliability is pretty fair acc/to me. It can handle touring & long distance travels decently, providing good mileage in it's class. Cruising in 110s 120s i think will be just fine, as I can cruise quite fine on my P135 LS at 90s.
        2. This factor is mostly depended on the rider actually, manner he rides, maintains, etc.. It's not an off-road bike, but as experienced, is pretty alright for that too, though not for heavy off-roading I believe, could be proven wrong too.
        3. SVC at bajaj were never really satisfying I think, probably agreed by most of their customers. But they get the job done, sooner or later. A piece of advice, keep a look out & move towards a good service garage/mechanic in ur city after the free services r done.

Thanks Bro. Is there anyway where I can totally eliminate the gear slippage?. I can live with others but this gets little irritating especially while driving in the city.

I experience the same prob on my P135LS, mostly when the chain slackness is off or when it's nearing it's time for an oil change. But even otherwise, it happens at times. Have crossed 10k mark on mine. I may not have the exact idea how to eliminate it entirely, but technically, if incorporated with a slipper shift mechanism, it'd work it off, but at a price, the shifts should be instantaneous, but not smooth, a bit more force than usual to make the shifts...

Ah I see. How much would a slipper shift cost?. Is it a custom job?. Even my bike is nearing it's oil change. Although I experienced gear slippage even when I poured new oil into it few months back but it used to happen once a while. Not Often.

If DTSI is not a FS then you have to engine flush it.
BTW now Bajaj SVC defaulty gives motul FS! Mnay members wrote this here in ownership thread. So why are you going for it seperately ?

                  • Help with P200ns

                    1. how to reset NS service due light?
                    2. do you have to take all the tank covers off just to clean the air filter?

I like to service and repair bikes by my self and don't trust service center guys. Have lot of bad reviews from friends who got things screwed up due to foolishness of untrained service guys.

When you rip your bike, the carb settings become a tad bit rich temporarily. This is also evident from the mild increase in idle rpm immediately after a hard rip session. And a rich setting is accompanied by smoothness of the bike and hence, you feel so. It's not a niggle IMO. That's how it is in all carburetted bikes.

No other way. Tank must be removed. I had posted a few pages back that I'll soon post a diy for the same. Keep an eye on this thread, I will soon.
