• I don't understand why people talk about punctures. It's purely subjective. If you're a bad rider, you will have punctures. If you ride on bad roads, you will have punctures. If you live near a construction site, you may have punctures.

If you know how to ride, and if the roads you ride on are decent, you won't have punctures.

It's not the tyres fault. You'll get punctures even in Metzellers. The Euroslips are bad as racing tyres. You can't corner with a lot of confidence. At speeds over 120, you may feel that you're riding on air and there's no traction. But as daily commuter tyres, they're fairly decent.

Forget Euroslips. I can vouch for them at cornering. If you want to see, go to my fb page and see my cover pic. Its on the euroslips and was taken when I was pretty fast I believe.. I found the next worst tire. Michelin Pilot Sporty. I am so scared these days after changing into those tires that if I even feel that I have seen a tiny wet patch of road even in my dream, I wake up sitting on the bed staring into the darkness. Had a few very serious misses recently.
Doesn't have any sort of grip at high speeds, even those euroslips had some. Riding on a wet patch is nearly as good as riding on oil soaked tarmac. Wrote to the company a week back, but still no reply. Stay away from this tire, I mean it.

Guys the Seat of my 200ns had decreased it's hight a lot !
When i ride with a pillion the number plate holder comes real close to the rear mud Flap !
The SVC guys told me that it is because of the mono-shock !or I doubt is it is because of any kind of Chase problem of NS !
Is it realy because of mono shock problem ? or chase problem
i have to wait till thursday to get mono shock because it's out of stock !
I'm realy scared about this shit problem !

I have same feeling when riding above 120 km per hour.I think that the mrf tyre can be a good alternative.some time while taking slightly smaller s type turns I feel that I am riding on the ice.

You're not the only one, many of our naked wolves delhi & ncr group members have found the truly pathetic quality of pilot sporty.. it may impress initially but gradually it loses grip n behaves unexpectedly.

Instead of Michelin Pilot Sporty, use Michelin Pilot Street Radial.

Michelin Pilot Street Radial offers superb dry and wet grip. Use it - front and rear...and you will simply love it.

• Re: Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences

Logging on after a month. Sad to see so many tyre queries still going around. Eurogrips are quite decent. Of course it's quite below standard when one wants to do hard cornering or quick direction changes. For daily commute they are perfecto. I frankly feel the guys who have just bought the 200NS should keep their current set of eurogrips and use them til they go bald, learn its limitations and practice cornering, braking & control on them. It doesn't matter if you encounter a fall, you'll become better riders. I used the first set for 20k kms and within this period I could shape and polish my riding skills.

I stand against my current michelin pilot sporty front tyre. It's okayish in dry but absolutely sucks in wet conditions. Ah I guess I'll take it as another opportunity to practice till it wears out. Keeping the MRF Zapper FX1 as the next option for front.

Ownership review after 33k kms:

Bike runs fine, no glitches faced except for a cooling system leak. Fixed it in a jiffy though. The engine stays a gem even with the modifications. I say, more and more owners should enter the aftermarket scene. It's not a sin.

Had to replace the carburetor diaphragm recently. But this time I realised the new slide (cylindrical part of the diaphragm set available at authorised spares) is slightly heavier than the one used on old bikes, and the spring in the new set is longer. Using this combo on the 2012-13 models will result in throttle lag after engine braking (which gets severe at high rpm/high speed), power feels muted and low end torque feels bad. After applying some high school concepts on permutations and combinations, I came to the conclusion that the new diaphragm (soft rubber attachment to the slide) is detachable and can be used along with the old slide and spring. With this combo the bike was back to its full glory.

Plastic quality was evident after a month of ownership itself, nothing new there. Vibes creep in and disappear randomly and in random places.

But I'd like to mention the engine once again. It's nothing short of epic. Highly reliable high performance engine even after a lot of belting about and following normal periodic oil changes and valve adjustments. The colors on the engine case may fade but not the power. The bike stands testimony to the punchline otherwise unrelated to bajaj and not quite synonymous with other pulsars "fill it, shut it and forget it".

So here's a pic from a recent ride into my desktop wallpaper.

Guys, this highlighted bolt in my rear sprocket keeps getting loosened and causing lot of annoying noise when I shift gear and accelerate. Any idea how to get it tightened permanently?

Thought ill share my Experience.. Initially went to the Mysore SVC [Star bajaj: Steer clear of them, mechanics are ok.. but most service attendants aren't so they end up not doing many things], since i knew a guy there.. But the new manager there was seriously retarded and said no freaking way to me bringing my own oil.. He was so rude that i told him to SOD off and directly went to my trusty mechanic, Mr. Chand..

Went to the mechanic said i had noise issues.. and viola, he said he'll look into it and so i left it with him.. Went a bit later, and i saw this

And then the major work began... Since the cam chain was the suspect, we had to open up the head.. And i'd already done 30890kms so i thought ill de-carbonize the head too..

So out came the oil, coolant etc.. And down came the engine..

For someone whos not seen an NS engine, they knew how to take it down pretty neatly and fast!... Of course knowing that he's worked on bigger engines was one thing that was making me breathe fine... He knew how to dimantle the engine better than even Auto service in bangalore.. [Ive seen them scratching and boiling their heads when i had to change my rocker arms, they didnt know jack shit about the engine, 3 mechanics where huddled together, with the ninja mechanic telling the other two how bolts might be placed *facepalm*]

While the engine was coming down, i went to admire the bike kept inside for some minor work..

then i saw this!

It was a friends bike. Front tyre had bent it seems.. this was the temporary replacement.. [just for it to stand :P]

Anyway after a while the head was out, so was the piston.. While the head had gone for lathe [de-carbonizing] I saw the condition in which all engines work

The piston was covered in hard carbon deposits. But this is actually how normal pistons look right out of the engine..
A bit of acetone and hard wiping later, this was the result,

Meanwhile the head had come back, along with Mr. @niladri [ Who had been observing during his (many) breaks from his office nearby], who had gone off to the lathe with chand bhai. It was done in one of the best lathe works in Mysore..Even super bike heads come from Bangalore for porting here it seems.. [ don't remember the shop name, sorry :P]

[could not take 'before' pics, as they had already sent it for lathe while i was out for parts..]

There was a very satisfying POP noise as you ram the valves into their ports.. Workmanship was amazing..

And then out came the cam chain.. It really was the culprit.. The slack on it was crazy, makes me think of what quality check bajaj did on these.[fingers crossed for the next one to last longer]

[held parallel to he ground]

By then it was nearing 9.30 PM, so we packed up for the next day..

Next day, everything came back together pretty fast.. The engine was put back together in the same speed.. they cleaned everything they could find too.. Checked and tuned carb.
Got new coolant, new oil put in..
And by evening, she was back together!

One thumb, and she just roared to life.. A light purring audible and happily for me no rattly sound! It sounded as if the engine was brand new!
One test ride done by Chand himself, he gave me the thumbs up..
My turn, and boy how the thing leaped! She just flew from a standstill, smooth as ever! Came back, fixed and adjusted clutch and break levers to my liking, and finished off the rest..
And then onwards to home.. Very fast.. :P
You should've changed the piston or atleast rings since you opened the engine. Boring not required at 30,000kms
But rings will always have some wear and so will the piston.
Looks like you got new valves
How much did they charge you totally?

Dont think so, the mech said the piston and rings are in good condition..[ i said fine considering hes more experienced than i am, and along with the fact that my wallet was gonna be empty after this and didnt want to add to it ] And now after 5000kms, bike still feels like new, up on power too, and apart from a lag due to the carb diaphragm, revs very freely...

And the valve sets are the old ones.. The lathe guy polished them.. The only thing new was the cam chain, and the normal packing and seals.. Valve oil seals were custom made [same lathe guy] since the one bajaj had was for the other pulsars.. And my head cover bolts were completely useless, but since no bajaj showroom in the city had one , had to get a make shift, Scooty streak's head cover bolt, plus a washer and another rubber washer... Done! No leaks.. Now head cover is a bit oily, but this is after 5k kms.. So its holding up, oil levels are still the same.. The mech also said this is temporary, so were still looking for those bolts.. [ bajaj people said their normal " Two weeks, we'll definitely have it!" so i knew itll take a couple of months]

Whole thing cost me around 2.5k including spares... Plus engine oil and coolant though...so plus another 750 for motul 7100 [had an extra half can already] and 280 for 1L of castrol radicool. so around 3.5 k overall.. And for me, the best value for money.. coz revving that engine just plasters a smile on my face..

Yeah, currently running on them.. Its good, but the light wont look any different, its just brighter, im telling you now itself that it does nothing aesthetically to the bike, if youre thinking of that also, If you want looks+ better light go for the crystal vision. But for me, visibility is way better now..

The specification you should look for is the same for any bulb youll need- H4 socket, 55/60 Watt bulb...These specs are for cars normally.. [Most bikes have 35 Watt bulbs, so look at the packing properly to find the wattage. Itll be useless as an upgrade otherwise..]

PS [ for those who didnt get it properly]: The specs of the bulb is stock specs only. There is NO modification required.
