Had the crash on a ride itself...got myself a DSG Evo Jacket and some Scoyco MK23 Gloves the day before the ride...did not buy the knee guards cause was running a bit low on the moolah...so planned on getting the knee guards when the next salary was deposited...

Will get the guards now..

Damn!! 1.7 Lakhs for 200 NS!! I did not have that much budget else would have gone for the KTM Duke 200.
It was 1.49 lakhs here. And, I swear. Its rear tyre and rear looks were far more appealing than the 200 NS.

Well but the price difference being almost 150% higher the Duke 200 did not provide anything much.

• Newbie Bike Owner: Questions around biking

Hi Guys,

I am a newbie owner of a Pulsar 200 NS and I have some questions around Biking. Although, some of the questions were well answered in some Threads, there are a few more. Hope you guys can help me out. I love to ride distant places and explore far off always. So, a few things need to be known before having safe and long trips.

I just bought my 200 NS 3 days ago from Dewan Bajaj, Delhi (Lajpath one). I am very excited to get my first service done at 500 kms and so I am riding too much. Not exceeding above 60 kmph for the time until first service and so on as the Dealer guys have explained to me.

1. Ok, for the first one. The Coolant Liquid of my 200 NS is just somehow touching the MIN level. I asked the dealer Mechanic to top it up but he said that it would be done at first service. So, I just want to ensure if he was right? Or if he was not what should I do?

2. I have just spent 1 year in NCR and stay in Noida-Ghaziabad. i am not aware of all places and Google Maps had been the only way I have commuted to all places unknown. While biking, it is impossible to hold your phone, look at it and drive. I even tried voice navigation my plugging my headphones and keeping the phone in my pocket. Well it works for the first few minutes, but then either the screen turns off due to pressure on the power button while in pocket and all.*
So, whats the best way to use GPS while biking?
I have heard of Mobile Holders mounted on bike handle but that seems unsafe because no holder could hold my phone in position when I am in a jerky Ghaziabad Road. I some type of Mobile holder strap available for holding my phone with the Petrol Tank? If not, what according to you is the best way to use GPS while biking?

3. My Temporary RC will come in 10 days. Until then, can I get my PUC done? Because, that's one of the mandatory documents to carry.

4. I need a bike cleaning kit, like the brushes and wax and all sorts of foam and cleaning liquids shown on Youtube, but those brands/products not available in India as per my knowledge. Where do I get to buy a proper Bike Cleaning kit in Delhi NCR (Noida/Ghaziabad preferably)?

5. Regarding Biking Gear like Knee Caps etc. Thanks to you all, I already got my answer from one of the posts here.

6. In Delhi NCR, Bike getting stolen is pretty common. What should I do to prevent that?
Like, I got a disc lock and the normal bike lock. Apart from that, is some GPS based tracker or alert system available in India?*
I was imagining of a GPS based Tracker and an Android App to alert me or some digital lock that can alert me if I activate the lock? Sorry, these are just guesses, but I felt that something of that sort should be fool-proof.

Thanks a lot guys, looking forward to a lot of long rides and waiting specially for the Ladakh Trip on the world's 2nd highest motorable road.

Btw, my best trip was from Pune to Dajipur during my 3 years of stay in Pune. It was a 950 km (up-down) journey covered by me and my friend (only pillion rider) in 1.5 days (just the weekend). And also, I did it using a rented Pulsar 150 (round headlight). But, although all of you would know, Dajipur Bison reserve forest is the only Jungle safari where Bikes are allowed. Its a rough rocky terrain to the core area and back. The funny part is that while watching Bisons from a distance was fun, while returning from the core area, I almost froze when I spotted a Bison around 10-12 feet from me while I was riding. Damn!! Will post a long episode of that someday with Pics. But, i still know it was one of the most adventurous, best, thrilling and in the end tiring Bike ride of my life till now.

My xBHP sessions starts here and I hope I will just rage with my 200 NS and have a lot lot and a lot of safe long thrilling rides across the length and breadth of our country. Happy and Safe Riding!!!

Thanks,
Chandrajit Rudra

Use disk lock every time , GPS tracker won't work if they take out the battery. And use shampoo for washing and waxpol for shine, or Robert polish (hard to remove after applying but far better than waxpol) and wear a helmet. 200cc deserve respect in 50cc roads, so ride safe.

1.They fooled you ,it should've been done free of cost while taking delivery ,now they'll charge 100-150₹ for the same .
2.no solution to this in Indian scenario ,you can just take a break ,look.at.map or ask someone .
3.legally not possible and not required .if someone stops you ,tell them your rc is yet to be delivered ,BIT don't stretch for more than 100kms.
4.don't know, I use dove shampoo and some polish I got from petrol station..
5.okay.
6.just a disc lock will do the trick ,if your bike is in.eyes of theif ,then.it will get stolen .

I do not think you need a puc for a new bike (at least for the duration of which a puc is normally valid )
You would have got a small sticker for the emission control along with the form 22 (its greenish is color i think) -- i got one with my duke a month ago and a few years ago a similar thing was provided for my honda dio.
for example: In hyderabad a puc is valid for 6 months. So for a new bike, i do not have to do the puc for the first 6 months. You will though need to have the temporary registration document, insurance and your drivers license.

Well.. ummm.. I am a newbie so cant discriminate between jokes n serious stuff so early. But definitely will give it a try on a certain part.

Hi,

My NS has done 42000 kms and i recently got my camshaft changed along with the valves. I am geplanning to get the engine oil changed. Any suggestion? I have already tried the Motul 5100 semi synthetic and the results were disastrous. power loss, lower top speed so drained it in a week and went back to Bajaj 20W50. But Now wish to get back to a semi synthetic. Some people sugggest Castrol Power1 Racing 4T. Anyone tried it?

Get Motul 7100, performance is too good. 5100 calms ur engine down, 7100 makes it roar

chandrajit1988 You do not need PUC for 3 months from the date of purchase of new vehicle in Delhi.

Do visit the car accessories shop in your area for the bike shampoo and polish, you can buy the car wash shampoo if you don't get anything particular for bike. If you don't get car shampoo, feel free to use any other shampoo that you use to wash your hair. No need to buy any particular brand. Just make sure to not use any strong chemicals like detergent or soap. Any mild shampoo is good enough.

Do invest money for some good polish. Best would be wax polish, though it takes more effort to apply wax polish than a liquid polish. There's one silicon polish by waxpol available, very convenient to use and the results are good as well.

I personally not in favor of using disc locks because if someone tries to move your bike with disc lock engaged (which happens quite normally in public parking lots), then it can damage your disc as well. If you park in a place where you know nobody would move your bike, you can use a disc lock. Also, don't go for cheap locks, get a branded one even if you've to get it from abroad/online.

there are some cheaper GPS trackers available online, though i am not sure how reliable they are TK102 4 Band Mini Car GPS Tracker, GSM GPRS Tracking Device For Vehicle Person Kids Pet Elderly Security-in GPS Trackers from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group.

For dusting, I highly recommend Jopasu dusters. http://www.ebay.in/itm/like/110825976962 and http://www.snapdeal.com/product/jopa...dorCode=a8b90f It has got wax coated cotton threads which clear the dust very easily without harming the surface. Very convenient. I've got both the bigger one the smaller one. I use the bigger one for my car and the smaller one for the bike. Do a bit of googling for a better deal on this duster.

• Hi has anybody tried any aftermarket slipon on ns.
I visited mxs motorsport karol bagh (read about this shop from xbhp as well) and they are charging a fixed price of rs 7500 for the range of exhausts they have got!!!
I just want something that has a softer exhaust note but i dont want to that high amount for something that hasnt been engineered for ns, has no warranty, no performance gains
Whats ur say on this folks??
I am fed up the tractor-ish exhaust note, especially at low revs.
Also can anybody guide me to shop in delhi where i can find a decent sounding exhaust for 200ns??
