I never cruise at speeds more than 50kmph. Only 2 times reached 70 that too for few seconds. In short bursts i take bike to 60+ for like 4-5 seconds. RPM always kept below 4k and not less that 2k. Only 2-3 times went beyond 4.5k. I do not keep constant speed and keep varying speed and rpm both. Never stress the bike on gradients. In fact i run it much more gently than i did with my passion a year ago.

If this is hard riding, then i am guilty as charged.

Jokes apart..Seriously I do not think i rode it so hard that the engine went out of the rhythm. And a point to consider is many others also facing this issue.

@Nilesh : P200NS fuel indicator has 10bars so 1 bar = 1.2ltrs approx. The orange light glows when you are nearing your reserve thus reminding you that you are low on fuel. Just like in old indicators there was a red area before reserve.
          Hello Chintan,

dude, there are 8 bars on the indicator. I had checked it. And then rechecked after seeing your post, its 8 only.

The other problem which adds to confusion is, the indicator is steadily going down 6 to 5 to 4 to 3 and then suddenly drops to 1. Like yesterday i had 4 bars in the morning and today the bike is on reserve. I generally check the indicator by keeping bike vertical only.

I mailed BAL regarding this. They said go visit SVC for the same. LOL I doubt even they know it...

In rainy seoson I look to park it under a shade but if I don't find any then I spend my time thinking that if it rains then my engine will be flooded(I seldom use it during rains).

In my P150 the water always accumulated on the inner rim/socket of the tank, and if I am not careful while opening the lid, then only water enters the engine.

@sandy and @sumit - This time I have thought of placing a Sponge on the inner rim/socket of the tank, so that it can absorb the excess water. Just opening the lid at frequent intervals and squeezing out the excess water from the sponge during the rainy season will do the job. However, Bajaj should have looked into it, as it's a known issue in Pulsar segment.
i have a P150 UG3 and my bike is always parked in open, be it rainy season or not, a ride a lot in rains, never faced these issues, if you look closely there should be a hole to drain away water, in case any gets accumulated.

Never looked carefully enough to find any drain hole.
I am not 100% sure what UG version my P150 was, but it was the one which came with silver alloys.

                    • Hi everyone,

Got my Panthera onca (aka Black Panther) yesterday from Dewan Bajaj. Already so many things have been said for this amazing bike. But my brief version and some pics are as folllows:

Reached Dewan Bajaj around 1230 hrs, asked the guys to take me to the showroom (they were trying to 'chepo' me the display bikes (test ridden all of them) but i insisted on selecting one from the show room. Went there there two of them, the first one that came out was good and we saw each other. Did all the necessary checkings - tyre condition, engine oil level, coolant level, scratches, rust etc. only 2km on ODO. Went back to the showroom made the payment, signed all necessary documents, waited for almost 4 hrs, installed the Center stand (Rs. 510), went to the nearest petrol pump and got Rs.600 worth of Speed.

                      Running-in

The person at the showroom told me not to cross 50 km. But i am following the policy of not to cross 4k on rpm. At this rpm the bike reaches around 60-65 km.

Yesterday only i reached 100 km on ODO.

Varying the speed in all gears in between and also reach the speed of 75 for a brief moment.

Till the moment i rode this beauty even i thought of not speeding. but this beast wants to ridden hard. you can hardly feel the engine getting stressed. Cruising at 70 will be bliss.

Guys please advise if the way i am riding is ok.

Went to Karol Bagh and bought a rain cover for Bullet (Rs.350) and Motomax dashboard polish (Rs.90).

This morning went to drop my son (2.7 yrs) to the school along with my wife. All of us sat comfortably. Though my wife had struggle slightly (lack of the foot-rest on saree guard. height wasnt a problem and she said it was slightly higher than the cbz but ok.

                      My review

                      a. Engine? Butter smooth, low on engine vibrations

                      b. Gears? smooth, though i had a lil tough time on a few occasions from shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. I think got stuck in neutral but the neutral light didn't go off. I guess this is what you call as 'False Neutral'? Also i need to adjust the gear lever shifter as yesterday i had got the center stand fixed for which the svc guy had to open gear lever.

                      c. handling/balance- Amazingly balanced and stable. When i started from the showroom while turning the bike tends to come back to the center at that time i thought it was due to the handle which have a low steering profile. but by the time i reached home i understood it was the center of gravity and not the handle. Though i did not corner or lean much as i am not much into corners but yes with practice i can lean a lil bit more while turning.

                      d. brakes - front is just perfect. The free play on the front brake lever is very comfortable unlike the CBZ that i used to ride. The rear however was not so effective. Also i noticed at home that when i press the rear brake there was a lil movement (around .5 cm) in the brake assembly and it was also pressing against the rear hugger plastic. Do not know if this is normal or needs attention. Guys please advise here.

                      e. headlight - perfect for day-to-day usage (my point of view). When i reached home it was around 0730 pm and still getting dark hence could not assess the full potential of the headlight, but way better than my old bike.

                      f. indicators - hard to reach when turning to the left as one has to take the thumb all the way to the right. It seems to be a bit stiff but i think with time will get used to it. And i am used to having an indicator buzzer so am thinking of getting one but do not want any local person to touch my baby .

                      g. horn - when the helmet is on the sounds really is funny and you can visualize Khali with a female voice. but still it serves the purpose. The way this bikes electricals are built i think bajaj intentionally put one horn. But a higher capacity battery and dual horn could have been better. Higher capacity battery - because it is a self start only bike and a higher power or dual horns do not drain the battery. Anyways for the moment happy with it.

                      h. Tyres and mug-guards - For my purpose these tyres are perfect and will do the job. I am not into cornering so the stock tyres will do. couldnt get the P220 lower attachment for the front mud guard hence a lot of slush on the front but nothing on the radiator. The rear hugger though it does do its job but a lil bit slush (powdery like) does slip in and falls all over the pillion seat and rear - top portions around the pillion seat. I think a small fibre sheet between the taillight and number plate will help in protecting the tail light from such debris.

                      i. riding position / comfort / seats - riding position is comfortable not very sporty but not upright also. though i had a little back pump and my a lil pain in my wrists. On one occasion i fingers on the right hand went numb, but that was totally me as i was getting used to the new riding style hence my entire body was like concentrating on holding on to the bike.

                      j. Body panels / paint finish / vibrations - Black is pretty difficult to maintain. slightest of scatches, smudges are clearly visible. I feel the need of a good scatch guard for the tank as that is the most scratch prone part of the bike.

I do not want a tank pad but can anybody let me know if there is a possibility of installing something similar to mobile scratch guard ?

Quality of the panels is good. Vibrations are clearly felt in the 4-5k rpm range before and after that it is not noticeable. Do not know if they come from a particular part/panel.

There is a drain hole which lets out the water. The drain hole is connected at the bottom of the tank to a plastic tube.

If water is still getting collected then what you'll have to do is check if the drain hole is blocked with dirt or grime. It needs to be cleaned once in a way. If there's no dirt then in some cases the tube gets pinched at the bottom not letting the water drain out. Get the fuel tank off to check.

The easiest way to clean the drain hole is to remove the standing water. Take it to a washing center that also has pressurized air for cleaning electricals after a pressure wash. Point the nozzle at the drain hole and Fire!

BTW, after owning a Pulsar 150 for 4 years, the Pulsar 200 for about 4.5 years I got the NS last week. The ride has been fun uptil now. A few niggles here and there, none that couldn't be fixed. Love the refinement. Too refined to be called a Pulsar I say. With very little common to it's predecessors I wonder why Bajaj still called it a Pulsar. It should have been given it's own identity IMO.

Changed the engine oil at 200 KMs to Mobil 20W50.
                        Haven't checked fuel efficiency yet.
