Pulsar 200 NS Owners Review and Experiences

  • An instance where the handling of the NS saved the day for me.

    Well as with many owners, during the first service the AFR was screwed a bit too lean and that resulted in the bike just shutting off abruptly, specially when the bike was not fully into it's operating temaprature. So, there I was doing a full lean (as per my standards) and midway the lean... bang... it was just dead. I was officially into a crash, but had it not been the amazing mass centralization, weight distrubution and the firmness provided by the premimeter frame, I would have been down, very early in the morning (5:30 am to be more specific). All I had to do was to quickly transfer my on the other side of the lean and even though there was no power coming from the engine, the frame itself held it's line. As soon I was back on the seat, the bike just went off the lean, got vertical, in the mean while I thumbed the started and I continued without a single scratch and moved on.

      If you look at the swing arm near the axle bolts, you will see graduations marked on it...this is for ensuring that the rear tire is fitted in straight line to the chasis....The single marking on the chain tightener should align with the same number of markings on both sides ...ie., if the left side marking is at the 3rd mark on swing arm, then the right side marking should also coincide at the 3rd mark.

        Asking because the left side drift is there in my bole also... but it does not in any way affect my riding.....

        • The max i rode was for 2 hours straight (with a pillion) with a 10 mins break. It was all city riding. And i would prefer using the word tire instead of pain. Its was fatigue which led to a li'l bit of pain in my arm.

            IRC is the brand and model name of the Tyre is Road Winner RX-01, this is the same one that comes with Ninja 250 as stock. It is a soft compound, rounded profile tyre. Gives excellent grip on most conditions like dry, sand etc though wet road performance is not on - par with dry, nevertheless much better than MRF grip any day.

            If you are into leaning around curves & love to exploit the handling capabilities of the NS, this is the tyre you should go for. Next option is obviously Pirelli PSD costing a good 1000 bux more, which i was not ready to spend at the moment.

            The cost of these tyres varies with every shop and usually between 3300 to 4100/-. I bought for 3300/- after searching around for 4 days in most shops and finally ending up at a store in JC Road, who was giving at the lowest cost. Since it is an imported tyre, no warranty will be given but i dont think we need one anyhow.

            The shop is near JC Road, on the connecting road between Lalbag Main Gate & JC Road/Kalasipalyam Entrance signal. He also stocks Duro, Yoko, Pirelli in addition to IRC. Yoko is priced just as much as MRF Revz-s and looks like it is a good performance tyre, though i haven't used it personally. PM me if you want help/more info

              In-city rides tire you more than highway rides I feel, i dont think that it can be attributed to the bike staright away, although I agree that it might have be somewhat responsible... check by doing some ride on NH2... Go to Durgapur once....

              • idling increased on itw own....

                guys since yesterday i am seeing that my bikes idling (hot) has increased to 2.1k rpm and then subsequently within 10-15 seconds it decreases to around 1.8 -1.9..... it will be like as if somebody is pulling the accelerator.... this is happening on its own... what is the issue here? Is the accelerator cable getting pulled/stuck somewhere? Shall i reduce it myself or get it checked at SVC?

                Earlier the cold idling was around 1.2 and hot was around 1.5-1.6 k.....

                      Yea in-city rides do tire more. But still i'l have mine alignment checked. NH2 is definitely on the cards but not so soon...in a month or so

                          Durgapur is where my Father is currently posted. Have Already made plans for a trip there in the later parts of Nov.
                          After the 1st Service, the engine has become Smoother, and the Flat Spot has been completely removed by the Guy.
                          In fact the engine sound just Invites you to rev hard(even to me, who generally rides slow), and the Bass-y sound is felt at higher RPMs.

                          @Myth - Give some time to get adjusted. The 1st time I went for a 5hrs ride with the bike, in city, it was very tiring. Wrist pain, back pain, butt pain, and what not!!
                          But now, All is OK. Even the trip to Diamond Harbour wasn't tiring at all.

                            Saree guard is not the reason.
                            I've already removed the sareee guard , the rear mud guard , & the frond mud-guard extension...seems to me like a fork issue...or maybe a tight cable which pulls the bike to the left...

                            Plus , have a look at this : 375cc Pulsar confirmed by Rajiv Bajaj himself !!

                              Bike goes to the svc whenever required... office keeps me busy entire week, so no time to wash it and weekends I ride... so again no time....
                              The exhaust is not the only underpart thats left out, the other part appears washed because of some oil spillage during the recent oil change..... My bike these days is washed daily... thanks to my idle watchman... :P

                                Almost all NSes sway to the left. But it should only happen at slow speeds (<20Kmph). It does not affect the handling or riding comfort of the bike any way. If your bike does sway even at higher speeds only then, one should try getting it sorted out. SVC guys should be able to solve it. And NO, its not because, of Saree, Crash guard, and any other such fitments, and actually is not considered an issues.

                                Confirmed. Bajaj working on Pulsar 375
                                375CC with 33Ps?? :O


                                I'm now running on Motul 7100, post second service. Vibes are there, but the bike feels more composed.
