  • Booked the bike today! I had taken the test ride 2 months back and I missed the ride so much that I took a test ride again today (even though I went there to book it :P). It felt even better than last time! Gears felt smooth and vibes were fewer compared to when I rode it last. Told the dealer I do not want a bike which they have in showroom. He said he will call when the vehicle from go-down will come. Should get it by early next month. Can't wait !

How much did the philips bulb cost you and what is the colour of the light?? Is it normal like the stock bulb or the blueish kind??
It cost me Rs575/- at reliance mart here. IT is normal color but much brighter. just remove the stock bulb and replace it with this. No electrical mods needed.

Just got Osram 100/90W bulb.. Cost me just 90/-. Don't know if its a good company or not but only this was available. Got back and fitted the bulb by myself. The light is really bright. Just goin to observe it for some days. Will see if it drains the battery or not.

        Hopefully not.. fingers crossed..

The reflectors will get fried, and so will the Electrical wiring, battery, and switch. Do not exceed 50/60 watts of headlight power..

              Exactly...
Using 100/90W is double than that of Stock. So, of course, it will take up More power, and will release more heat..
Better go for Philips Blue light, 55/60W. so to the max you can go for a HID of same watt

              • Guys, About to get my NS this Monday from the South Mumbai Bajaj Showroom. Can anyone tell me whether its safe to take the Delivery of the Book on TC no.? Or should I wait a few more days till I get my Permnt number and then take the bike?

                Thanks

                • i'd say wait for the permanent no. r ask ur dealer to give u a "temporary" no.

Riding on TC no. is not allowed and if a cop catches you,you will be fined upto 5000 rupees and if u fail to pay the fine the bike will be taken by the police till u pay the fine...this is what i have heard...also if some unfortuante event happens and u might have to claim insurance it might create a problem since you dont have the permanent number
not sure abut the last part since the insurance is done before registration and the insurance papers carry the engine and chassis no.

i have requested the dealer to get the permanent no. as soon as possible and give me delivery on dushera but i dont think i will get my bike on dushera as the dealer says he needs 4 days for registeration and he has only 2 days now

                  @others
since this is my first buying experience apart from the PDI of the bike for any damages and checking everythign working properly...what should be done?

what all documents and papers are to be checked and what all papers will i get from the dealer?

Well , i can speak for the way things are in my state(kerala) here once you buy the bike, it is temporary registered from the RTO, no expenses involved i think, the dealer itself gives you the number, you can double check it at the Kerala RTO website and then you have one months time in which you can ride with this Temp no, for one month, regardless of the kms covered, the only thing is that you have to get it registered within one month, I recently took delivery of a fz and did the temp registration and rode with it for 1k kms and then registered the day i gave for 1st service.

                    Cheers

Nobody is going to fine you or tow away your bike if there is a temp no. What do you think the temp is for??

                      Section 43 of the MVA:
                      (1) Notwithstanding anything contained in section 40 the owner of a motor vehicle may apply to any registering authority or other prescribed authority to have the vehicle temporarily registered in the prescribed manner and for the issue in the prescribed manner of a temporary certificate of registration and a temporary registration mark.
                      (2) A registration made under this section shall be valid only for a period not exceeding one month, and shall not be renewable
So don't worry if you get a temp no. because you will surely get a permanent no. within 1 month. But don't forget to keep all the documents with whenever you ride with a temp no.

Temporary no. and TC no. are two different things

TC is for the manufacturer and showroom guys to transport from godown to showroom or to rto for registration

please correct me if i am wrong

with temporary u can ride ur bike but not with a TC no.

the rto doesn't temporarily register your bike till it allots you a permanent no.

why would the RTO do double work of allotting and keeping records of 2 numbers for a single bike

there is a separate procedure involved in getting a temporary number

PS. this is what i have read from the internet and some knowledge from friends..please correct me if i am wrong since i too want to take my bike asap and i don't think i'll be getting the permanent no. soon

I have a very similar thought about that! TC No. and Temporary No. are two different things. PS: Mumbai residents, correct me if I am wrong I aint sure myself.
I just wanted to know ki should I take my bike on TC no. and ride on the TC no. till I get my Permnent No. or should I just wait a week more and take the bike with Permanent No. only? :/

Agreed...Temp and TC are two different things. I mis-read TC as Temp in @mayankjames' post.
As @mayank.travadi mentioned...TC is for transporting the vehicles between the showroom and warehouse. Its not legal to ride it on your personal vehicle.
So don't take your bike wthout a valid no.

P.S. I took my bike without ANY no. Used "A/F" for ~130kms

if u are super excited as i am you can take your bike first thing from the dealer when the showroom opens and drive straight home and avoid any problems and cops

u can keep ur bike at home till the permanent no. comes and then u are free to roam

if u want to play safe...wait for a while for the permanent no.
