    Hey,
I checked the bolt.It is tight.
I was looking at the Pulsar 220 gear shifter, and I found it has an adjuster. Why doesn't the 200NS have one?
Or is it hidden inside those two joints that are enclosed in rubber(looks like a ball).

    • Ola Amigos!!!!!

Firstly sorry for this delayed post.. I got my bike and jumped into this thread only bombarding question on how to set the time?, where to find idle screw?? blah blah blah.. So here goes my end of the story

      8th Oct 2012:
Finished Booking and Payment of the yellow fellow

      9th Oct 2012:
First day of my life where I was having mixed feelings of both being super happy and super sad as well..

Reason for being Sad - Had to give away my bike (Pulsar 180) after being with ME for 3+ years. This is when I realized that you and your bike do share a bonding.. The memories of the day I got my bike, all the trips, all the falls and the safe get back to the safety of my home comes right in front of me.. Goodbye darling I shall miss you real bad

Reason for the Super Happiness After the first look online , After the first look at the flesh, After the first TD, After all the immense discussions and contemplation, After all the mullah related calculations; comes the day when I lay my hands on the Yellow Fellow thumb the starter, twist the throttle and rejoice with joy yaba daba dooooo..

      There it is..

Impatient me.. can't wait to get on it and vroom vroom

Ah.. finally a smile .. not for posing but happy that the photo shoots over and I jump on

      13th Oct 2012:
First small ride to Nandi Hills.. A total of approx 150 kms.. Did this ride to get a feel and response of the bike.. Kept in the rpm range of 5k and was slow on the curves (damn it was painful to ride so slowly). Few pics from this ride

      16th Oct 2012:
Wanted to get extra kms on the ODO asap to complete the run in so woke up at 5:30 AM and rode out till the airport and back directly to office..
A total of 100 kms .. rode within the 5k RPM range.. took it to 5.5k briefly..

      22nd Oct 2012:
Left the bike for its 1st free service @ Khirvraj, Indiranagar.. odo read 640 kms.. I intended to drop the bike for its first service around 500-550 kms but for some reason couldn't.. Thankfully I reached on time for service as they took only 20 bikes for service that day due to less number of mechanics and they wanted to close early.. The next 2 days they were closed on the occasion of Dussera.. I got Motul 3100 Gold (mineral oil) poured in & also got idling sorted out as I was facing issues with the idling until the engine got heated enough..
Apart from this there is or was no issues that I was facing with the bike..

      Today:
Haven't done much of riding off-late and the odo reading stands at ~750 km and I am loving every bit of this machine.. Today I got the main/center stand fitted from the SVC.. had to pay 520 (item cost) + 225 (labor cost).. That is about it..

      Ride report:
I've been loving every km run on this bike.. The engine is refined and I've not faced any rough engine sounds..There is very much audible sound while changing the gears apart from that all is well.. Haven't checked mileage yet.

      Few pics:
      Changed pilot to LEDs

Don't worry....I'm just 5'4" tall.Riding my beast for past 1200 kms.You can balance the bike with one leg when at stand still.Rest is a matter of your confidence and passion.
Before buying the bike,I also had this same concern about the saddle height. One of our seniors here gave confidence to me then.
Do you see moto gp races ? Dany pedrosa is just 5'2" tall. Also Andrea Dovizioso ( 5'4"),
Toni Elias( 5'3").You need not race like them. But if they can race such sportsbikes, why can't we ride these sport-commuterish bikes?

It would be a little awkward for you in the beginning, since you were used to riding a pulsar 180 before. For me NS was my first bike.I learned to ride bikes in my NS...!!
        Anyways.....be confident.If you desire a NS...GO FOR IT..

This is exactly in my NS too. Friends told me its leaner mixture. Am am always getting around 50kmpl. Always. That's why I told that.

and u said let the bike idle with choke for 15-20secs but with the choke the RPM shot upto 6k and was increasing...is it safe? for running in such high engine speeds(following the conventional method) is not advisable right?

6K is not safe. Mine is goes upto 4K in cold starts. Choke. Take it to SVC.

and if it is lean AFR shud i go to the ASC to make it richer? i am facing no problems at all while riding

Don't do it yourself, if you don't know about it. take it to a good SVC.

the manual mentioned idling as 1.35-1.45K but that is my cold idle and hot idle is 1.6K rpm

It's okay. Don't bother that. Must be under 2k.
+1 Don't mess up with AFR settings.
i guess i'll wait till the first service to get the issue ironed out...it dont face any problem in normal sarting and bike behaves properly in normal riding...

still will check it out tommorow again when i go to ride

and yes i have never experimented with any carb tuning and wont touch it on my bike as well..ASC all the way

          • hi guys,

i got my Pulsar 200 NS and it has been over a month. The first servicing is done, but i have certain doubts about this. I had read that before the 1st servicing the RPM is limited to 5K.. but later the limiter is removed. Is this true ? because i feel that my bike is not reving above 5-5.5K rpms while driving.. . I took a ride on the Gurgaon-Delhi highway but once try to go over 80 kmph it feels like this is the max i can hit... I showed this to the Bajaj guys, they did nothing much just tuned the throttle (actually made it worse). please reply if i am mistaken somewhere.

Start ripping it slowly....let it vibrate...it will get smooth after you exploit that rpm range frequently.... Maybe u'll get tappet noise but trust me, engine will be smooth as usual... And i knw about souvik's plan...maybe he will stay there at night while me, sayank and some others will return.... @santo: go to any local mechanic and he will disconnect the speedo. Simple...
Refer to page No.36 of the manual: it says "It is strongly recommended to use only "Bajaj DTS-i 10000" Genuine oil. In case any other engine oil of same specifications is used, the frequency of Sr. No. 4,5 & 6 will be every 5000 kms."

the 4,5&6 refers to engine oil, oil strainer, and engine oil filter respectively.

              it gets better and better...

i initially didnt like the turn indicators but today discovered there is a push button which cancels the indicator when pushed....nice feature

i finally found where the choke is...
there is a problem with it(or may be not but heres the issue)

i guess pushing the level in is choke off and pulling it out is ON

so with pulling out the level the bike doesnt start(strange bike not starting in choke)

but with the level pushed in the bike starts in 1 push of the start button...(also strange because it ddint start in choke but started without choke)

now i tried to start pulling out the choke lever and twisted the throttle...the bike started and then shut off as i left the throttle

now i started the bike pushing in the choke level and it started just fine

              what can be the issue?

If the engine is warm it is supposed to do that or even when the carb setting are just right(you may not have to tune the afr). try doing the same after running the bike and you will know what I mean

next after riding for 2-3 mins i parked on the side and with the engine on i pulled out the choke lever and the rpm shot to above 5-6k(still increasing) and i got scared i immediately pushed it back...

next part of he issue is the idling is abount 1.3-1.4K when cold...after the engine gets hot..the idling is at about 1.6K
shud i reduce the idle? if i do will it have problems for me in starting?

set the idling at 1.5k when it is warm.

i dont know which screw is the idle screw but i'll have to look up in the pages of this thread for that picture..
infact looking at other bikes i see almost everyting in the NS is hidden inside..the choke, the carb...
i guess i dont want to mess with the A/F screw just yet

              • thanks for the help guys...i guess i'll not touch the carb till a couple of services done on the bike by the ASC.

btw is it safe to remove the tapes from the pulsar logo?
they really dont look good at all..
i ddint check properly but on the RHS of the tank the P was not fit in properly...i mean i could press it and it went a bit in and on removing pressure it came out a little and normal as it was..

and is kerosene or turpentine oil safe to remove the sticky marks left by the tape? i read not to use aceton as it will mess the paint...

One of my friend who owned a p220 erlier said the pulsar logo is delicate and the R of the "pulsar" breaks and comes out very easily(of the p220 offcourse)

There is no such rev limiter at 5k rpm. The only rev limiter is at 10k rpm. So get your bike checked.

Check the 1st free service coupon...its says "Warranty is null or void if Bajaj Genuine Oil & Mandatory periodic parts are not replaced"

The logo on NS is not made of a metal (as in p220)...but it may come of as it is stuck with an adhesive. So avoid poking the corners of the logo especially the "p" and "r".
Yes, remove the tapes now or else they might leave a mark later. Even if the do, try using kerosine/diesel. Don't use acetone.

Now, that does not mean that you should replace the bajaj oil with same bajaj oil.

It should be replaced, and may be replaced with another brand oil with same grade and specifications.

Now i have a doubt,so can I give the SVC a better engine oil with same grade & specifications as DTS-i oil & will they use it? Is that possible..i really don't their DTS-i engine oil in my bike...so will they accept any other engine oil that i give to them during my first service?

Thanks...will post a review of my bike along with some pics soon.. Didn't get time to do so... I think there are plenty of people buying P200NS in kerala...but most are buying Dukes..there are about 5 P200NS & just 3 Dukes in my area...There are quite nof guys who own P200NS here itself. The DTS-i engine oil seems bad for P200NS,i really don't want that in my bike..since most complaints start after servicing...will ask the mechanic there.

see its basically a trick by the svc's to earn money...buy the oil from them and they will tick mark the coupon...they dont care if u pour it or not...just buy it and sell it to some other people...this is the bottomline... You buy oil from them, they earn profits.... Some svc allow to pour motul coz they are not bothered to sell their products... Either way, bajaj wont come to know anything about it... But if the engine oil box on the service coupon is not ticked, then your warranty is void.... They do it only during 1st service...after that pour whatever you like..... Btw today did some speed runs on rajarhat expressway and did some fair drags with four 220, two r15 (one of them had the dagrex daytona kit installed) and a NS... I was with a pillion and smoked each and everyone but couldn't get past the other ns since he was solo but once past technopolis, smoked him too on the corners...thanx to the tremendous grip provided by the new tyres, i cud lean on and on while he had to slow down everytime because of tires (roads were empty)... But i found a strange thing... No matter what i do and how much i rip it in everygear it wont go above 125-126 in 6th gear at around 8k rpm with a pillion both in full upright posture... Didn't tried solo yet... Might be because i run extreamely lean...but not sure... I know a small drop will be there because of the tires but this is too much...any other ideas? Btw i am feeling the lower power output while accelerating after i made the tuning quite lean for mileage coz i generally dont rip my bike but i do ride fast... Did anybody else try to check topspeed with a pillion? Anyways i am 1315 on odo now...quite fast na @shiba?

                            • HeroHonda goes as far as to record that you either avoided an oil change during service or filled your own oil on their service-record and void your engine warranty . They specifically say so in their owner's manuals . Read what your's say about it .
I have always done what is best for my bike , filled my own oil and didn't tell them about it . Several times during free service I let them change the oil and record it on their computers , and drained the new oil to fill with my own as I reached home . That keeps the warrany and the bike , both happy . Other than yamahas, because yamalubes are very good oils . IMHO , use the best 20w50/15w50 grade mineral oil you can buy on your 200NS . Do the first oil change within the first 500kms , and then at 1000 and every 2000kms thereafter and you'll be fine . Drain the old oil hot and dispose of it in an environment friendly way .

As I said , every service/parts-change etc work that is done at any HeroHonda(Hero) service sation is entered into their(ASC's) computer and then updated to the Hero's main national servers daily . Hero provides the software for it to the ASCs . It even records the values given by every emission-tests(smoke-tests) you get done there . So wherever you may approach an Hero authorised service later on(even years later) they access the national servers and know every bit of work/complain/service/parts-sold to your bike ever . Bajaj should be having the same setup so just be wary of it , this is the digital age .
@ Rahul , discipline your throttle hand and ride safe ... that road is not even good enough beyond 100 . What's your hurry bhai ?

                              • 1300 kms done on my NS.. I dont know if I am still in run in as I have ripped it to 120+ 5-6 times but generally the speed fluctuates around 60.
I had pulsar 180 2007 model previously and this NS for first 1000 kms sounded entirely different but to my surprise from past 3-4 days the engine is roaring like my old 180 specially when the engine gets hot. During cold morning rides the engine is silent but the engine starts roaring like a bass tube after sometime with vibration and noise from fairing. I am little concerned about the sound and engine is running with bajaj oil from past 800 kms. The fairing noise irritates me like hell.
Any suggestions to lower the noise????
Should I change the enigine oil to motul or any other. If yes then please specify the full name of the oil. As mentioned I am at 1300 kms so specify accordingly.
