  • Re: Pulsar 200 NS

Hey, this would be my first post on Xbhp..After almost a month and half of deciding on a bike I've chosen to go with the NS..
Being a college student I was looking at VFM, performance and looks and around a 1 Lakh budget , couldn't find a better option..(I'd be happy if you guys let me know the major issues with the machine if any from throughout the thread )

I was advised to get the bike from Trichur, Kerala ( Hometown ) than from Calicut ( where I'm now..college) as the registering the bike would be a pain with address proofs from an other district..(advised by the bajaj dealer in calicut )

Anyway i wanted to know if it would be safe riding the bike from Trichur till here (around 170kms approx ) within the first week of delivery as long as i keep the RPM's in check and take regular breaks letting the engine cool down..Ive always liked long rides and this ride would take a chunk off the 2000km run in period..( cant wait to get over with it !)
I read somewhere that long distances cruising at a constant speed might be harmful during run in..if someone could clarify..

    Thanks!

yes, in the initial 1000 kms approx. try to avoid it, if you have to do it....keep on varying speeds and take 5 min. stops every 25-30 kms.

            Ya, 'technosysthese' means semi-synthetic.
but 3100 was mineral, don't know about this. Maybe new addition.

            Ride safe and have fun.

I'm surprised that most OF the fellow xbhp brothers are unaware of this 3100 gold 20w50 technosythetic whatever, it seems like a new/recent addition to motul range of OILS
              3000 15w50 is MINERAL OIL(this blue bottle

I see, then it's a suitable oil for run in period. Btw, I thought I've located a Petronas dealer here in Delhi but alas he doesn't stock it anymore. I'll search more to find another if possible as my next service is about a month away. You still running on Petronas oil right ? Also as you've got like 3 HID in your NS, could you suggest me on what to look for when getting one for myself. I'm just looking for a stock bulb replacement.. a shopkeeper was selling me a chinese HID for Rs 1100, thought of getting it but changed my mind. I know nothing about HIDs but I read 35w 7000k something on it's cover. How much should I be willing to spend for HID setup ? without projector only.
Also, got a picture of your NS ? xD haven't seen it in a while.

At PUC test they test the CO% after the catcon AFAIK, you are getting a value of 2.402. It is indeed high in my opinion. The CO should remain between 1.5 to 2.5% before the catcon.

Do not take my post for granted though, I'm quite stupid some times

If you are getting H4 HID kit which you need to get since you would install it without projector, it should cost you around 1,500 to 2,000 rupees depending on where you get it done and what kit you use. Stay away from no name Chinese kits, also do not go over 4300K, anything over 4300K is just for show-off and a pain in the butt to ride in fog or rain with them on due to decreased visibility. Anyway, Chinese HID bulbs do not actually stand up to the color temperature they are rated at, a 4300K bulb is often around 3000K. If you are going for projectors, expect to spend around 3,200 rupees to 5,000 rupees for an average quality one. Keep in mind that HID without projectors cause glare to oncoming traffic and you can not use the "flash to pass" function with HID at daytime when the headlamp usually stays turned off.

I see, thanks for the info on this Cleaner. I'll probably look for a good H4 HID kit under 2,000 Rs then.

friends suggest me which one of this lights will be having more life span as pilot lamps for my NS? Which can last for about a year or so.. Do my NS have some problem with connectors of Pilot lamps? One of the stock lamp also got fused. So I changed to LEDs.

In past 4 months I have changed two sets of LEDs just because they got fused or got some weird problem like blinking or producing low light than before. Here is the pic of previous LED which I have bought from a local auto shop which is now not working at all.

Loose connection might be the cause of blinking.
When you replace with new set make sure that it is seated properly.
Those white 5smd LEDs will work fine. Properly check if all 5 are working before purchasing.
These are all sensitive and should be handled with care otherwise their terminal wires can break easily.
I am using a total of 5 such LEDs since a year. All working fine.

Hi I have been getting weird sounds from my read disc brakes for a long time now after I had my first service like 15 days ago. Went to the service center for like 5-7 times and they brush the brake plates everytime and the sound goes for some hours. After riding for some 5-6 kms it again crops back. Last week he changed my brake shoes but again I am facing the same issue. Can anyone help me with this ? I mean where should I go and what is the issue exactly as the mechanic is telling its because of dust. Its kinda weird. Is anyone else facing the same issue ?

I am from Bangalore and I am going to the Khivraj Whitefield Service center.
