An ffe can harm if the exhaust angle is not same as stock exhaust and i think it depends on the engine's dependence on back pressure, that whether an ffe will effect the engine or not. As far as Same angled ffe is considered for NS, i think it seriously reduces the vibrations, to such an extent that you may think that half of the vibes were produced due to the under belly exhaust only, and if someone has actually used a decent ffe like me, he would surely appreciate the change in the engine responsiveness, it becomes so free reviving compared to the stock. And if someone is on the crappy bajaj 10000 oil, he wont mind the ffe for its many positives.

Though the biggest negative i find is the exhaust note, for a good ffe with a good exhahst note, a lot of money is required

same thought. The Biggest Con of this bike is its exhaust note

I dont understand how a free flow slip on exhaust (a good quality properly tuned one) will cause quicker wear out. The same gases are coming out from the engine albeit with better flow. Did you know some slip ons are intended to improve the life of the engine by taking away the back pressure caused by those nasty stock baffles. I repeat its a risky gamble with full systems with our desi bikes but not slip-ons. +1 to the guy who said he feels reduced vibrations with an ffe. Its a notable change indeed.

And a correction in your statement: not all engine mods reduce engine life. A cylinder head with properly polished and matched ports (refer port matching on google for more info) improve the flow rate of the air fuel mix and exhaust gases thus increasing the effect an aftermarket exhaust has on the revving nature of the piston. A high lift type camshaft (again properly tailor made) will improve the midrange and top end with compromises on low end and fuel efficiency. In short, as long as there's nothing dirty going into the engine and all mods and installations are done reliably enough, rest assured, the engine is safe!

But port polishing needs hours of time and brickloads of patience. This is not feasible on each and every cylinder head a manufacturer makes, so they use the cast head with rough ports in our engines, even the best of which have pretty lousy flow rates. Aftermarket exhausts dont meet emission and noise norms and that's the prime reason for using noise cancelling baffles. The whole point of performance mods are to improve flow and nothing more.

Just clearing out a stereotape on engine modifications.

Aditya, what nadz said is true, any kind of improper mods will lead to more strain on the engine, let me explain what i have understood from the mod works, in case of a ffe, if it is not properly tuned, it might run lean, lean means more heat and more heat means quicker wear and tear, also now the engine parts are running more faster than they are intended too, the revs climb up quicker , and inherently having a ffe will make one live in the higher rpm band more than often, then again , causing more effort on the engine and with a lean mix, again more heat and the problems just keep compounding,
then comes the engine mods, you go for a bigger bore, you need to adjust the relating parameters accordingly, you go for a different cam, the timing and many stuff which is left as stock must be changed accordingly, and what not.

I agree about head porting mod, that is a good modification to lift off the pressure a bit.

              Cheers

And i forgot to mention: a bigger bore than stock will always stay off my list simply because its a big replacement and not a modification to existing parts. Stock bore-piston-rings quality and fit can not be matched currently in the country. Not much idea about elsewhere.

Today i switched to moutul 5100 t 15w50 and there is not even a slight difference in terms of vibrations, engine smoothness etc. Downshifts are hard as they were, there is a strong thak sound whenever i downshift, is it normal ? There is no false neutrals or problems in upshifting or downshifting but downshift happens with a thakkkkk sound. I drove for 10-15 km and didn't feel any difference may be i need to drive long to spot real difference. One more thing, engine oil filter was not available so i am using the same oil filter which i changed on 200 km ( i did first oil change on 200km).
I have some queries, what is the life of moutul ? Is it wise to use the old oil filter ?
                      I am loving my NS

It is not wise to use old oil filter with new oil, the oil filter is there to filter the dust out of oil, so if you use the old dirty filter with new oil, the new one will get dirty even faster.
And regarding the smoothness, you are still running in, so you won't feel much of a difference for a about till 1000kms is over or so.
And also, with motul , always give it a 100kms or so to break in and you will fell the difference quite evidently

                        Cheers

5100 can be used for about 4000kms , after which it starts to loose its properties.

                                I'd suggest change after a 400kms .
And from next change on-wards, change the oil filter with each oil change.
