The brake light switch is connected directly to brake lever through a spring. The switch is placed around the fender. When the lever is engaged the spring pulls the switch and triggers the light behind. If you are unlucky the brake switch could be damaged. In most cases, if it is damaged the light would not function at all. Surprisingly in your case the brake light would not go away. I reckon the brake light switch gone kaput (i.e) it is not bouncing back to its resting position.

    Hope that helps !

got it right today morning, since it was Sunday i decided to find out what was wrong
i finally figured out that while lowering the pedal the spring got stretched in the same way as what happens when we apply the brakes!!!
so i adjusted it and now everything is fine

As I understand it was not bouncing back properly and you adjusted the spring tension???

Just wanted to share this with someone, and who better than you guys. I closely follow this thread and understand the zeal and passion for a NS.

Came back after a long solo ride, still feeling excited and happy. This bike never ceases to amaze me!! It munches miles like no one cares, its like falling in love all over again.

I so wish I could do a group ride, if anyone from Delhi/NCR interested drop me a PM

A very brief 19000km review of my NS

bought on 05/09/2013, completed 16000km by march 21,2013. took rest till about july and till date completed 19000km

                  Like:
                  1. bumble bee, looks. bought the bike just within 3 hours after seeing it for the first time.
                  2. superb handling.
                  3. comfortable seat and seating position, good for highways and within the city. had a long ride of 500km ride and felt as fresh as when I started from home(except for the hard clutch). no back pain or fatigue at normal speeds of below 90.
                  4. petrol cannot be stolen so easily.
                  5. good mileage of around 45 in city and around 50 on highways even after completing 19000km.
                  6. cheap spare parts in the sense of price.
                  7. awesome acceleration.
                  8. good hard compound tyres which have good resistance to punctures and wear.
                  9. sturdily built frame and other hardware.

                  Did not like:
                  1. hard clutch.
                  2. vibrations that loosen the screws at some places which need tightening atleast every 5000km.
                  3. below average performing crash guard.
                  4. console buzzing. hard to get completely rid of.
                  5. eurogrip tyres perform worse in cold and humid and wet weather. no feedback at all.
                  6. ugliest, malfuntional/almost non functional mud flap.
                  7. dumbest svc mechanics with dumbest possible explanations to their mis-diagnosis of simplest problems.
                  8. dumb dealers that service the bike at bajaj svc instead of the bajaj probiking svc.

                  Would like:
                  1. if bajaj could make the bike vibe-less if not vibe-free.
                  2. give better training to their mechanics.
                  3. provide better stock tyres.

Guys just found out that the 39/13 ratio is too much undergearing. Haven't tested it personally. I'm planning 40/14 and will keep you updated!

Just to give you an idea, you might already know though. Increase one in front is equal to decrease in 3 at the rear. You can consider doing the math on the change in top speed before going for the actual change.

Guys,, I have a couple of questions on my new bike which has run for 150 kms: A) There is a very very faint chain rattling sound which is heard near the engine case on the left side of the engine whenever the rpm hovers around 2.5-3k , is this normal or is this something which I should take up with the svc team immediately? B) I also feel that when I am riding at 35-45kms in 5th or 6th gear, it feels like something is holding the engine and releasing it immediately, but I am completely sure it`s not the disc brakes since this issue does not exist in the first 4 gears. Someone, please advice on this as this getting my really tensed as I do not want to spoil this wonder machine by ignoring the problem if any. Also advice from someone who have faced such issues earlier during the running in period and have resolved them is hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance.

about the 5th and 6th gear, your bike may be knocking. try shifting to 5th after 45 and 6th after 55

39/13 will give the duke's ratio of 3 right ? And you told in earlier posts that you experienced good acceleration and had descent mileage.
What happened now? Like is it getting too revvy for the cirty rides ? I was about to get the Karizma's front 13T , just the way you did.

Also, which bike's rear sprocket of 40T are you considering ?

The rattling noise, I also get it, it comes from the front sprocket. I have tried many times to remove it, even SVC guys couldn't (or wouldn't??) remove it. Tired refitting it and putting lots of greese, oiling etc. But it just goes for 2 days and comes back. i hate it. Its really annoying.

                              @Others:
My bikes left RVM is broken. I thought this is good opportunity to replace the flat mirror RVMs to better ones which give wide angle view of rear side. Please suggest some options.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

City rides are fine. I meant highways and drag strips. Stock gearing takes over!
                                I'm considering karizma's 40T rear.
