as a incident happened with me yesterday night...

I was coming from a friends party at 11:45 from korgao park pune...

the speed of bike was around 60 suddenly at some distance Honda city took a immediate U turn from the other side. AS they where at marginal distance i Applied the brake slowly,

What I noticed was like the Bike was slow but the rear tier was skidding towards the car........It was like the bike was stopped no acceleration clutch was Pressed...the rear wheel was not moving but the bike just skid too much....without any dis balance ....

I have noticed it several times... if you are in speed and apply sudden brakes....

the bike just skid a lot but the best part is i do not let you loose your balance....maybe because of weight...

What can be done on this ???

By the Way I have a question If we Put a Broader tire in the rear....

do we also need to change the rim...or the stock rim can be used to fit the broader tire.... ???

    Thanks

Hey Man I am doing fine....How about you???

Well as you said about the skidding...that is one of the main reasons I changed the tyre....
I am really not confident about the zapper Y....the problem is the zapper y is made of a hard compound...and therefore does not have a good grip on the tarmac....especially is a bit of sand on road....it s worse when it is on wet tarmac.....
You can change the tyre to a broader one....but do not change to a too much broader one...like for example....the Yamaha FZ tyre...for that you will have to change the rim....
You have some choices from which you can choose from....

You can go for Michelin....Pilot Sporty....which I have changed...the specifications is the same....100/90 18"...but the road grip and wet raction is excellent...
Or you can go for M45 Michellin...it has a cross tread and is usefull for off road also....
or if you want to go for MRF you can go with the Zapper Q...it is one of the best...and you can have choices in the size....you can get 100/90, or 110/90 or even a 120/90.....
all the three sizes fit in the GS...the more the size...the better the grip,....but also means less milage....
So if you want a little bigger one...you can go for zapper Q 110/90 it will do good ...check the MRF site for more details....

1- when i turn the handle bar to the extreme right side, bike engine stops!!

2- sometimes the signal buzzer (sound that comes when signalling for turning right or left) sounds like the battery is low. Any suggestion for the cause??

Is anyone else facing this problem too.

Also, i want to get a few changes done like lowering the clutch lever as the current position is giving me some pain to the palm of my left hand. Shud i approach the SVC?? My bike is just 7 days old and its not time for the 1st service yet. Will they do it or shud i visit my trusted mechanic for this.

Bro the first query really sounds strange....I never faced anything like that...probabaly some loose connection in the engine kill button....I am not sure...that seems a probability....

for the second query...I too face the same problem...the buzzer sounds...correctly sometimes...and sometimes....it acts as if the battery is low or comes with long intervals...
I am not sure what is the reason...but I am OK with it...actually personally i do not like buzzers...My P150 never had it....here iit was fitted with accessories...so I took it....
Also I rarely use my bike horn....I am bit of allergic to sound pollution...

finally I got some more discount and got is for 200/-...It think it is OK...just 10 -20 rs difference wont be much .....
200Rs I think is really good deal....considerring it is MOTUL and keeps our GS running so good...for atleast 2000kms....

Buddy...generally I check the tyre pressure once in a month or so....It is like I fill the tank once...I check the trye pressure in the petrol pump....after that....it is the next time....when I come to put fuel....so it is around...3 weeks to 1 month...
Ya in my case to it is the same....the pressure starts from either 20 or 18...depends....
I thnik it might problem of the pressure check valve.....beacuse while he starts to fill the air...a little air is coming out....and at that time it shows the pressure....it might not be so accurate....can't say..

Anyway....guys I changed the back tyre this weekend....was not much happy with the zapper Y....so I plonked in a Michellin Pilot Sporty Tubeless....got a good deal....
the tyre price was around 1800 and I exchanged my Zapper Y with it....I got a discount of 700/- and finally got the tyre for 1100 including the exchange and fitting.....the tyre is excellent....
anybody who wants to go for a change.....I would suggest the Michellin Sporty.....
Looks like you got a nice deal for the tyre, ya zapper Y isn't very good, even i noticed fishtailing when i apply rear brakes, but after buying GS i got used to front brakes so i hardly use back brakes these days.

Ok, nice. i'll be changing the oil in 2-3 days. lets hope the JASO MA2 makes gear shifts smoother.

        Cheers
Buddy, the indicator buzzer is connected to the battery, my indicator and buzzer work fine even when the bike is not running, it might be something else related to buzzer/battery. (or may be the showroom connected the buzzer to the wrong place while delivering the bike)

It is not easy but not tough. You cannot connect the head light to the battery as it will drain it in a few minutes because the stator coil do not supply enough current to keep the it live.
To get rid of it, you must rewind the stock coil and replace the rr unit. To rewind it, get in touch with any auto electrician or any one capable to do it. If you have any electrical engineers or engineering students as friends, ask them. They may be able to help you.
Then the rr unit. I don’t know which RR unit can be used. You can try ape’s unit which costs around Rs. 1300/- but before that consult a good mechanic and ensure it by checking the connections. Here too you may have to change the default connections.
I hope the battery is of 7 amps. It may not be sufficient and a replacement of it with a 9 amp one may be inevitable. However, its long life also cannot be guaranteed.
The stator coil of our bike has no separate coil for recharging or headlight or starter or plug. So to do all these, a wiring diagram of the bike may be necessary. It is not available outside, I think.
If you are ready to do all these, you can convert the bike to a full DC one. But, by doing all these, what do you expect to get? You will get a brighter light, but its focusing depend the reflector and lens of the head light. The reflector cannot be replaced with another one because it cannot be detached from the assembly.
Remember that altering or modifying the electrical system will nullify the warranty.
Now, if you are ready, contact a good mechanic, someone to rewind the stator coil, collect copper wire, suitable RR unit etc. and start. If it turns to be a failure, you can revert to the default position. Our stator assembly costs about Rs. 900/- including taxes. All the best.
These are the pictures of our bike’s stator assembly.

                  1. Get all the cables starting from the handle bar checked by the mechanic.
                  2. As falcon pointed out, the battery may be weak or the buzzer may be faulty. Firstly check the buzzer and then the battery. If the battery is weak, get it recharged and there after ride longer distances to keep it charged.
                  3. You can lower the lever yourself by loosening the screw of its clamp. Adjust it to your convenience and tighten the screw.

Applying clutch while braking is the balance sheet of our bicycle days or gearless scooter days. When the clutch is disengaged, the engine cannot function as a brake even though the rpm is decreased. So, do not keep the fingers on the clutch lever and disengage the clutch while braking. At the same time, try to downshift while braking, even if it is a clutchless downshifting. Clutchless downshifting or upshifting does not cause any damage to the transmission.
Changing to Michelin is a very good suggestion but it is costly and its life is shorter because it is a soft compound tyre. Considering its cost and life, the total expense will be nearly 5 times of our stock tyre. Yet it is better because our life is more precious.

Seems to have nothing to bother about it. Check the valve for air leak by applying a drop of soapy water – saliva is commonly used by the mechanics – and replace it if necessary. At the same time, check the pressure more frequently, especially in hot climate.

                        • Thanks for the info on converting to DC. I dont think I would be doing that in mine.

Pics will follow soon! Too tired for the day. Just one more teaser..

                            • Hahahah Vishnu!! Well if you go through my previous post again(the one where I had asked about DC) I had clearly mentioned that I am happy with the headlamp, but a steady beam would be a boon to teach a lesson to the morons who dont know what a low beam means and always ride on high beams.
